I have to say that I watch most of the main KZfaq chess content providers: Eric, Levi and Daniel included but, yours are so accessible and accommodating to someone of my level. Fabulously instructive and a reminder to me that there is no rush....control the centre, develop your pieces, castle etc. Brilliant. Thank you so much👍

the London can be quite challenging against the Dutch… I’ve been trying the Leningrad with an early d6 to blunt the London Bishop and putting my bishops on g7 and b7. I definitely don’t recommend the Stonewall lol

Finally a GM who also seems to play the greatest 1100s who ever lived as I do. Every other speed run series the 1600s lose on move four, making me wonder where my automatic title is. Good to see the tactical genius beginners come alive and make a pro sweat it out. I still hate this game, but I feel a little bit better about myself. Not a lot, but at least a little. Thanks, GingerGM

Can confirm for whatever reason 95% of players around 1200 blitz out every single move in 2 seconds without any thought whatsoever. I'm the opposite where I play too slow, get to a winning position but have 20 seconds left vs my opponents 4 minutes. Moral of the story is bad players like us shouldn't be playing blitz lol
@ghostface1818

Playing good positional chess should take most of your time unless your opponent blunders. Your opponents are simply playing to quick.
@FredPlanatia
@FredPlanatia 2 жыл бұрын
yeah, same here. Against similar rated players I tend to be behind on time but my position is often better. Then i speed up a lot and make blunders and its hit or miss whether i win or lose. So Blitz is entertaining but not great for my chess development. Longer games are more satisfying but then you need to commit some time, right?

24:12 Missed Checkmate. what do you think about bishop h3? His pawn cant take and if he does rook f3 you can queen g2 checkmate. If he doesnt move his rook or anything after you play bishop h3 you can knight f3 check and if he takes queen g2 checkmate. If he moves his king to h1 you can play queen h2 checkmate.

4:06 Why not block queen with e6, so both rook and queen are attacked. You don't lose a piece.

Still worse for him because his opponent can get knight, bishop and pawn for a rook, but yeah, definitely better than what happened in the game. 1. e6 Rxd3 2. Qxd3 exd6 (2. dxc7 Rxd1+ 3. Kxd1 Nxd7)

You can split a chessgame in three stages. It starts with opening theory. Second stage is the ability to calculate. Third is technique. Having a plan or a strategy is just a fancy way of saying what chess is all about; taking your opponents pieces/King.
