6 жыл бұрынBack in 2005, Giovanni Hidalgo came into the Latin Percussion Studio in NJ. He built this symphony by recording one pass on top of another, every pass was a keeper, no retakes. Enjoy!

El problema es que este duende es como la vieja Botica - tiene de todo - La voz de Africa el swing de la salsa - el calor del Caribe - La humildad de la gota de agua que gota a gota rompe la piedra - De lo mas humilde de Puerto Rico escuelita de lo ritmico y spiritual. Lo mejor de lo mejor, al dia de hoy, y la envidia no le hace meya..!

I remember this one. This one came out when I was in high school. Because of this video, I saw that there is higher level of playing Latin percussion. Giovanni Meñeguito Hidalgo took it to that level and started learning his techniques. This has to go in the hall of fame!

Aprecio mucho a Giovanni, por su talento al igual que a su padre y porque su abuelita y un tío invidente, eran mis vecinos del mismo edificio donde yo viví en el Viejo San Juan. La tristezas que me da es que ya no puede hacer lo que más amaba y eso lo derrumbó. Perdió varios dedos de la mano por no cuidar su diabetes.

Sorry about those who don't know that Hidalgo Giovanni got few finger amputated. Sadly, he no longer is the ONE who can make congas talks the way he used to. His past was blessed, May his present and future be blessed even better!! Para los que hablan espanol somament: Dos o tres dedos de ambas manos a Giovanni Hidalgo fueron amputados por razones de una enfermedad que le ha acompando por toda su vida.El ya' no puede tocar como lo hacia antes. I know. Very sad. He can only use a stick with one hand and is compromised with loss of fingers on both. I heard it was diabetes. It breaks my heart to see him play now. Does anyone have the whole story?

They'll never give us credit tho. Latin dance is heavily African from Salsa to Bachata......., the food in Latin America has a heavy African influence too. Sadly, in my experience, tho some Latinos proudly embrace their African heritage, I've too often experienced Africa not get the credit deserved. Folks from that part of the world (PR, Cuba a lil bit, DR) where this style of music is prominent mainly credit the indigenous peoples who the Spaniards basically wiped out prior to bringing captive Africans over, and the Spanish with influencing this culture, and of making up the majority of their ancestry.

sin mas detalles a mis hermanos congueros eviten cueros sinteticos aunque parescan inofensivos dañan las manos el rebote que crea el plastico golpea doblemente los dedos puede ser muy peligroso si algun dia sentiste calambres al tocar cueros plasticos ya sabes reresa a lo organico y nunca tendras problemas.

En PR esos instrumentos se hacen con cuero de chivo. Nuestra tradición de hacer congas, barriles de bomba y panderos a lo tradicional, está muy arraigada. Somos fiel a nuestras tradiciones.
