Gir lion safari: Gujarat
We visited Gir during November 2018. We couldn't get the early morning slot hence opted for 9-12 slot. The Park was maintained well and safari took more than 2 hours to cover the National park. Still not everyone will get a chance to meet the majestic lion. We were lucky enough to see it from very close distance. It walked past our open jeep and it was right next to us. It was an amazing experience. There are many other animals in the park but it's famous for lion safari.
"We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love, and then we return home".
Please don’t ruin this pristine paradise by leaving wrappers and plastic bottles. Let's do it for ourselves and our next generation.

Hi, The place is sasan gir. Very popular safari destination in Gujarat. There were 3 safari slots. You can book online to avoid last minute confusion. It costs around 5k per safari for 6 ppl, guide included. We didn't take any package. We stayed in junaghad, it's almost 2 hr drive from there. You can also get accomodation nearby.

The reason lions were placed in the genus Panthera, which is Latin for pardal, is because their skulls are similar to those of both pardals and jaguaretes. By pardal, I mean a “leopard” and that word came from the Ancient Greek word pardalis, which is one of the two roots of the pard in the word leopard with the other being the Koine or Hellenistic Greek word pardos and yes, a pardal is the pard in the word leopard. By jaguarete, I mean a “jaguar” and that word came from yaguarete, which is what that cat is called in Tupi-Guarani and it means real or true beast. Jaguar on the other hand came from yaguara, which is Tupi-Guarani for a carnivorous beast. Its species name leo is Latin for lion. Can you believe that?
