The Gino Girolomoni Cooperative was born after the idea to grow wheat and turn it into pasta, all in one place, and to rebuild a rural world with its people, thus creating a new economy linked to local area.
It was right here at Montebello, in the hills, just a few kilometres from Urbino, that in 1971, Gino Girolomoni began to write this story, simply by planting the seed of this idea.
Today we grow wheat, grain, and legumes on some 400 farms in Italy, and over 70% of these are in the Marche. Our pasta comes from a wholly organic agricultural supply chain, which we manage. We have played a part in the birth of organic farming, and we continue to support it, seeing it as a starting point, and not as a finishing line.
We see organic farming as a way of life, which takes shape in the form of pasta, of hospitality and catering, education, and of a Foundation that nourishes the cultural aspect, together with Gino’s message.
