@@TheMirolab So I've heard. What's the source of the hate? It's not well publicized like Waters and Gilmour. Me, I was in high school when Famous Last Words came out. I found it to be a big Drop off from Breakfast and teh superlative Paris. (The latter remains one of my favorite live records ever).

I had heard Roger tried to push his religious beliefs too much and it made the band resentful. The fact he had most of the hits probably didn't help because their deep cuts are great, too.

The lines that, now, most deeply hit me in this song are ones I didn't really notice for years: "See the man with the lonely eyes/Take his hand, you'll be surprised." This is more than just the romantic love song, or even the feel-good anthem, that I once thought it was. This song is *challenging* all of us to genuinely take the time to reach out to people when it might not be easy or comfortable. I need that challenge!

I am 53 years old. the first album I bought was Crime of the Century when I was eleven. Then Breakfast in america, Even in the Quietest Moments, and all the others. Since then I have been a fan of rock, hard rock, new wave, jazz, funk, classical, French songs, and many other things. Tastes pass but my love for supertramp never faded. And despite all these years, I still discover new details with each listen. Supertramp is part of my worldview. I would certainly not be the same if I had not known this music.

This song has memories attached to it. The first is, I'm taken back to my teen years at an arcade, surrounded by others like me just to hang out and find fun, that song playing out through the speakers, another, listening to this song and thinking of how much a friend of mine who had just passed away, loved it. This song also has a strong sentiment to it, because my late husband, back when we were teens, wrote a letter to me and he used the part of the song that says "see the man with the lonely eyes, take his hand, you'll be surprised" as a part of it. It almost brought me to tears, we weren't really a thing back then, but, he was always there when I needed him. Well, thank you for this video, it was great!

Everytime I hear this song I'm reminded of a scene in Superman (1978), because it's playing on the radio in Lois Lane's car as she pulls into a gas station during the earthquake in the finale. ♪♫ Give a little bit.... give a little bit of my life for you ♪♫ (honk, honk). And then she honks her car horn. It's quite prescient really because she's about to die. I wonder if it was deliberately chosen that reason. Probably. It's awesome to see you doing more Supertramp! You definitely must hit "Even in the Quietest Moments", the title track form this album! A nice cut.

Yes! Supertramp is always an S tier. Can’t go wrong with them at all. Keep the songs coming… you’ll never be disappointed. 👏👏👌👌❤️❤️ I saw them in concert at Alpine Valley Wisconsin years ago doing the Crime of the Century album. Best concert I’ve ever been to. ❤️

A brilliant song, and it sounds so easily done, despite how complex it is. You should hit some of the songs on "Crisis? What Crisis?" - "Lady" would be a good one to react to.

This is a great album! I would recommend the title track, as well as "Babaji", and the epic "Fool's Overture". Cheers!

Next up for Supertramp: "Breakfast In America". It's the title track from their #1 album of the same name, released in March 1979.

I came to age in the 80s so Supertramp is a little before my time even though I was familiar with all their hits from classic rock radio and I even had BIA as a kid. In the last year I’ve come to really appreciate how good this band was mainly from your reactions to several of their songs.

That's a really really good song.... "there's a PUB on the CorNErrr...... And ToNigHt he will Go THeRrre" Love the squelching guitar on the end of that song. ALSO... I wish the lads would react to Don't Leave me Now, that's a very powerful song!

"Give a Little Bit" is one of the songs that inspired me to pick up the 12-string guitar. It was written by Roger Hodgeson, although it is credited on the album as "by Supertramp". Don't talk to the band, talk to Roger, as he wrote almost all of their hits, and when he left the band in 1983, Supertramp never had another hit song. Roger's solo material, though is excellent, and he has had a a few hits as well. I was privileged to get to speak to Roger for about half an hour about 12-string guitars back in the 1990s when he was promoting his RItes of Passage album. He was singing autographs at a record store, and when I got up to get my CD autographed, I mentioned that his 12-string work had inspired me to pick up the12-string guitar in addition to the 6-string. So he asked me what 12-string I played, and I said "Ovation", one of the models that has the full back, not the slender back...and we chatted away about guitars for about 5 minutes, then he says we are holding up the line, and he can chat while he signs autographs, so just scoot around the table, grab the other chair and we chatted for about half an hour while he finished signing autographs. Lovely person to chat with!

I agree 100%. Roger Hodgson is Supertramp for me. His songs, his voice, his guitar. Saw him locally a few years ago. Such a great concert. It is unbelievable, his voice is still the same all these years later. I never got a chance to see Supertramp in the 70’s. That night made up for it. They need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Recorded at the storied and legendary Caribou Ranch studios in the mountains of Colorado (see album cover!) Check out who else recorded there: Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and on and on. Sadly it burned down in the 1980s. S-tier track for sure!
