Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

11 жыл бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US. Recorded Nov. 2011
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This was an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Hello. I’m not here to make assumptions but I hope this might help. From what I can tell, and this might be a leap, you used to be Christian but you are now atheist, and quite a proud one given your profile picture. My life went the opposite direction. I grew up in a godless household. Being gifted with an exceptional mind, I took my atheism seriously. It destroyed my life and my soul. The reason I am a Christian today is because of two things 1. I cared about truth more than anything 2. I dared to prove Christianity wrong once and for all by going even farther beyond Aron Ra’s Biblical studies ALL of the evidence, scientific, historic, experiential, metaphysical, Biblical evidence points towards God and Christ being the truth. For quite a while I messed around with God, one foot in one foot out. Only when I went all in, in faith and heart rather than intellectual acceptance, was I given the certainty I’d been missing. Please continue to doubt your own doubts.

@@D1sc0rd- "ALL of the evidence, scientific, historic, experiential, metaphysical, Biblical evidence points towards God and Christ being the truth." How does this point towards Christ being the truth? When do you think Jesus fulfilled this prophecy? And he will be our peace when the Assyrians invade our land and march through our fortresses. We will raise against them seven shepherds, even eight commanders, who will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrians when they invade our land and march across our borders. (Micah 5:5-6)

I grew up as a white boy under Apartheid in South Africa. My family and I went to church every Sunday. In fact, most white South Africans went to church at least once a week. I am a rehabilitated racist. But here is the funny thing, it was not the church that changed me and South Africans like me into racists. It was social engineering by evil human beings that knew how to manipulate opinion through radio, TV and yes, religion. But deep down we knew it was wrong what we were doing. In fact, it was the church that help bridge the gaps and heal the wounds after it all ended and still does. Even the guild wound of white South Africans. So please stop saying that it was the "Church" that did all these evil things such as slavery and oppression. Do not mistake the "Church" with man and his greed for wealth and power. Jesus definitely did not support our views.

Cliffe is no fool never seen him lost for words against any argument that smart Uni people make Thank you cliffe for your service to our Lord and his truth. 1 corinthians 1 The Message of the Cross 18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” 20Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Romans 10:9-10 English Standard Version 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

I'm a black man. If anyone should be offended by the Bible and Christianity it's me and my people. Now, I can't speak for my people, but I can speak for myself. I...AM...NOT! Why? Well, for many reasons, but, concerning SLAVERY which everyone seems to continue to bring up (but I'm pretty sure those same people don't think twice about human trafficking which is modern slavery)! Here's the thing! CHRISTIANITY HAS NEVER CONDONED SLAVERY!!!!! Also, IT WAS TRUE CHRISTIANS WHO STARTED THE MOVEMENT TO ABOLISH AMERICAN SLAVERY! However, how do I surmise that the Bible, and by default Christianity, does not condone slavery? 1, one, uno, nye, один verse: Exodus 21:16. Yes, I said that one verse dispels the myth and wrong thinking that slavery is supported Biblically. What does Exodus 21:16 say? Glad you asked: "Whoever kidnaps someone and sells him, or is caught still holding him, must surely be put to death." What happened in the 1600s to many of my people? They were kidnapped and sold and then the person to whom they were sold, that person held them. Or, in many cases, the kidnapper held on to them... All those people deserved to be, ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE, to be put to death!!! And you know? If any of them went to their grave without having repented of their participation in slavery... THEY WILL BE PUT TO DEATH...2ND DEATH... WORSE DEATH... HELL. I digress. With the presence of that verse everything else mentioned about slavery in the Bible is regulation. Why? Because 1. Slavery is a human invention and 2. Humanity, because of our flights of fancy and our penchants to living above our means and subsequently getting into DEBT, brought on ourselves the human rationale for slavery! In short, we [humans] are the reason we made slavery in the Bible necessary. Because most of the time there was slavery (or what would equate to indentured servitude in more modern times) was due to a person having to pay off a debt, but not having the means to do so. So they had to work off the debt. However, the distinct difference between Bible-recorded slavery and American slavery is, slaves/servants in Jewish society maintained the full rights of a free person. They had full citizenship and if any harm came to slaves, their masters were punished accordingly, up to and including death, if the slave died. But there remains the specter of Exodus 21:16. What it mandate, however, cannot be carried out (which is very fortunate for us) because we all, in some way, shape or form are inextricably tied to debt and potential enslavement. It's because of God's grace & mercy that we are not. In short, stop believing the hype and drinking the Kool-Aid of slavery being Biblically-condoned.

This comforts me to hear. I've seen so many of our people stop the walk as a result of finding slavery in the bible and after being made aware that the book was used too often by slave owners to justify their crimes. Continue the faith brother. I want to encourage you in your biblical historical studies. If you haven't I encourage you to trace the lineage of the the "Afro-American" back as far as you can as well as do a deep study on who the Israelites of the bible are today. You might find some commonalities. May the father guide you in all of your search for truth.

Very well said, easy to talk the talk but no 1 walks the walk. Its impossible to live as if morality is relative, its so built into us that we respond then think 2nd. I would also add, why when we are upset at real wrong do we feel the anger in our guts and not our mind? This is something i only recently stood back and thought about. Real love comes from the gut, not the mind, evolution can't explain this, and yet there it is, right out in the open!!

Its the logical conclusion of atheism. Even Richard Dawkins admits this, Dawkins admits to this and says that he does not want to live that way. Its odd that Dawkins does not see the logical contradiction, making fun of Christians for believing in things not seen, then tries to believe in purpose value meaning, also non material un seen. The difference is non material things point to a God, because we have to have a purpose to live, its as if its built into us. Animals dont need a purpose.

But life goes on, death's Angel stands and bides, they age, Their victims age, In later years recall, the memories are not sweet The fate's of all their lives today and yours of vile deceit You're weighed with regret, from thoughts that haunt your days But there's an answer that you grasp, a story you'll believe. The story hides away the load, Confessions a requite With their help we cheat ourselves, pretending absolution pure But now and then it all comes back, our guilt we cannot cure Life's a shadow box of lies, this God's a God of spite The peace he offers isn't there, entrapment is the play He loads your mind with guilt and shame, He makes your life a blight. But now convinced a future fine, depends on Heaven's gate Forgiven by the Holy Ghost, a million rules observe This new life it goes against, the nature that you know You're weighed down more with this new life, a life you don't deserve They fill your mind with bible lore, confusion, guilt and fear Your only life is now controlled by others who are chained To Jesus, God and superstition, your life now dull and drear The price of Christ is much too much, it cannot be sustained. Escaping from the Christian life and all that it imbues Takes character and courage, your new chains hard to break But freedom from the Christian life, a life you must refuse Will give you understanding of Mankind's largest cult The evil of this Christian God, the lies, a big mistake But we will give your nature back and show a whole new way To live your life, a life of joy, The Sabbats give and take. And when you've cast away your chains and moved towards the light Your life's returned, that evil bond, forgotten, left behind The tricksters with their sweetened words now turned wrathful blind No understanding why they failed, they look to blame with fright The Spirits of the Netherworld, control within your mind The Jesus cult you've trodden down, your llfe now on, is right.
