Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

10 жыл бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a good dialogue with students at Texas State University. Recorded in October 2013.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

@anneduke4876- I found this ministry by accident and continued watching because we have 20-something year old sons. I ask them questions about their beliefs as well. I totally agree that the seed has been planted in this fist young man’s heart/mind. In fact, as I was praying and asking God about our own sons, the Lord’s still small voice said the seed was in the ground. I am encouraged and I pray that our next generation comes to know Christ.

I feel justified in making this sweeping generalization I’m about to make because I’m a former atheist. They don’t get it from anywhere. They hear the idea, think, “yeah, that sounds good”, and add it to their repertoire of vague bullet points defining their VERY OWN PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY! It’s like picking out clothes. I’m convinced that most atheists and new age/spiritualists would agree with this single statement: Perception is reality. When you believe something as self-centered and disassociated as that, you aren’t limited to customizing your physical appearance; now you can customize your very being, and even customize your own reality. To people who are evading God it is the most appealing thing to be able to simply believe in science fiction/spiritualist renditions of the afterlife.

Another point: She says “I choose not to believe in anything specifically” Well, obviously she does believe a lot of specific things… She says her alternative is a big question mark… once again, this just leaves her in a spiritual Macy’s. I did it before and once you did it it will give you a sense of "enlightenment" telling you everything is equal, theres no evil or good, we are all one, there is no religion. Up to the point where it will make you feel there is no God, we are all Gods. God is an energy just like us... And I almost went in and dive in this ludracris.. Its the devil tricking your minds once you take these psychedelics. It would rather have you believing in other thing like oneness, higher energy etc than to believe in the lord Jesus Christ.

I think once Cliffe changes his apologetic to the pressupositional route it will be too powerful for the atheist to stand against. Even though I have seen traces of him using this apologetic he seems to always take the "probably God" route which is actually against scripture which is an apologetic that William Lane Craig uses in debates. We shouldn't put God in the dock and make the unbeliever the judge. I believe that's what happens in nearly every Give Me An Answer video and I've watched everyone for the past year or so. Evidence is a great thing that God has given us and we can use it many ways to strengthen our faith but even using evidence to prove something biblical to an atheist means we are still putting the unbeliever in charge over God's revelatory word. So this is an encouragement to Cliffe, adopt the pressupositional apologetic as it's the most biblical and will destroy the world view of the Atheist etc. God bless and in love :-)
@joshjeggs
@joshjeggs 10 жыл бұрын
i see what you mean. i can't imagine the disciples arguing for the "probable God" back in those days. but i think its mainly because Cliffe is using the holy cow of logic that atheists hold high, against their beliefs, as common ground, so he has to hold to the logical models

Was that to me? If it was, I Didn't realise I mentioned a 100% success rate for using Pre-Sup! This, my friend, was an observational comment. It's the Holy Spirit who convicts and regenerates not the apologetic but I was merely stating that the presuppositional route is a more devastating blow to the atheistic world view. I didn't realise you had to have your own apologetics videos to comment on KZfaq nowadays?! Do you have any of your own videos on apologetics? Perhaps you have some good teaching to show the Christian brethren to help them engage atheists and other world views? God bless :-)

The Euthyphro Dilemma implies that goodness or morality has to have as its source or standard a non-living abstract entity. It assumes that this standard can't be a living being or entity because the pronouncements of any living entity must be arbitrary and have at their root an ulterior motive. The Euthyphro Dilemma never gives a reason for this, but my suspicion is that it is at least in part because it emerged from Greco-Roman polytheism, the gods of which were as morally frail as any mortal. It was difficult for them to imagine a morally pure god. But not only is there no reason to think this is true, there is a very good reason to think it's false: Goodness requires intent. Any "good" thing that happens to you without intent behind it is actually not good but just dumb luck. If goodness requires intent, then its source and standard must be filled with it, and only living things can form intent. Only the God of the Bible qualifies for this position. On the other hand, if it is impossible in this philosophy student's view that God could be morally pure and therefore God's moral standard is necessarily arbitrary, then there is no reason to think that an abstract non-living source or standard of morality isn't also just as arbitrary, for the same reason or reasons he gives for God's moral standard being arbitrary. There is nothing magical about being an inanimate abstraction that makes any moral code that somehow proceeds from it pure, and nothing about consciousness that makes a living source of morality necessarily arbitrary.

It's not that all things in existence need an explanation or a creator... we are saying that everything that suddenly comes into existence has a cause...babies don't just pop into existence without cause a baby comes into existence when it's parents caused it to, the same thing goes for the universe...science says the universe isn't eternal 2nd law of thermo so our universe just one day suddenly came into existence who or what caused it??nothing ever just pops into existence without cause. The christian claim about God and what we believe God revealed to us is that He didn't just pop into existence as we know our universe did. God has always been so therfore His existence doesn't require a cause He has always existed outside the dimensions of our universe.

To be looking down on the concept of believers "Referencing a book" denigrates the sacredness of its contents...& purposely so. The swaggering posturing of Cliffe's challenger from the very beginning made it hard for me to watch him beyond a few seconds. It's embarrassing, the behaviour that the Pride Spirit causes to manifest in its captives, trying to turn them into irritating buzzing flies...

+diybunny Yes, it's annoying how he keeps getting up in Cliffe's space & making with the fake "I-surrender-all" gestures...I keep expecting him to fall onto his back on the grass like Iggle Piggle, lol! It would be comical if it weren't so concerningly Hitleresque! I'm concerned for his soul! Let's all us believers start praying for the poor dude...

This is awesome but it's really hard to turn these people's hearts and minds with just talk. These talks just keep going in circles. Our words need to be backed up by signs and wonders. Romans 15:19 - They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God's Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum.

I genuinely and sincerely, from the bottom of my soul, believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, God the Son himself. I therefore take his warnings about losing our individual souls very very seriously. Because the simple truth is that Jesus is EXACTLY who he says he is, namely God himself and the consequences of NOT believing in him are very serious indeed. Jesus said if we do not put our faith in him before we die, we will be separated from him forever in a place Jesus himself called Hell. Just think of the shock at the moment we die when we find out Jesus was indeed God, and the die is cast. There will be no second chances. That is why I send these messages in the hope that they help someone to find the truth. Jesus is the Son of God, believe and be saved

"How does a self defined semi-evolved ape win a debate"? Or more importantly how you lose one proving u have no credability! 1) Ask yourself are you honestly pursuing the truth, or are you merely out to win an argument? * Do u start by ridiculing your opponent, his character, qualifications, background gender etc? * Have u read more than his first sentence and tried to clarify your opponents' strongest position, rather than attacking his weakest point, then strawmaning it? * have you attempted a facts-based, point-by-point rebuttal or as a substitute for a cogent response, merely quoted from a list of irrelevant logical fallacies? *is your normal strategy to resort to an insulting tone to demean and disrespect your adversary? *Do you ignore, or try to shout down an opinion you disagree with? *is your ego in a kind of intellectual prize fight, trying to land a low blow or sucker punch, by deliberately mis-representing the opponent's position. * worst still, if someone offers a personal opinion on politics, religion, morality or lifestyle that you disagree with, do u often call it out as "hate speech" when it isnt.? *is your typical strategy to spin or dumb down an argument by quote mining it i. e. Inferring a meaning or conclusion that the author never intended? Over the past decade of doing apologetics, I've come to realise from deniers' typical one-liners, ipse dixit assertions, often laced with profanities show they don't care, don't understand or just want to shock. Free speech is about the free exchange of ideas, respecting your opponent and seeking the truth, based on appropriate evidence and verifiable facts.

superbeedge The bible does not say if a man rapes a woman she has to marry him. That was something that got twisted up and spread. Read the actual scripture my man. It talks about a couple having consentual sex, they must get married after. It says if a man is caught having sex with a woman and she doesnt cry rape(meaning she was actually doing it with him on purpose) then he must pay the father and marry her. Stop taking out of context.

How else would you interpret Deuteronomy 22:28-29 “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days." Do you believe seize and seduce are the same thing.

SuperSlartibartfast Hebrew uses a different word for forcible rape. We see that word in other passages where the context is very clear. You have to remember that the Bible was not written in English, so even if "seizes" is a good word to use in the translation or was a good word to use in the translation previously, we shouldn't read too much into modern connotations of that word. For questionable Bible verses, it's always best to look up a detailed translation. One reason that the word "seizes" and even "rape" were used in translating this passage is that having consensual sex with a virgin was in older times considered to be somewhat similar to small age difference statutory rape. The guy took advantage of a presumably younger girl, and so he has to honor it by marrying her (else she would not find a husband).

12:10 you’ve been given enough evidence in creation and conscience , you’re just like the rest of us, no one seeks after God. Some might think they are, but there’s people who spend decades studying Scripture just to find “arguments” against it
