That nurse's management and staff need to be at minimum notified of the unprofessional conduct. As someone myself training in the medical field (Medical Imaging) the first aspect of medical professionalism is to act NEUTRAL and IMPARTIAL towards the patient. Story 1: It’s not violating a medical professional’s consent to talk about things like that, it’s literally their job. I went to the gynecologist to get an IUD. IUDs are extremely painful as it is but my doctor ended up putting mine in wrong which caused me to black out and vomit. I didn’t even ask for medicine but the doctor rolled her eyes at me, said that I was faking because “the pain wasn’t that bad” and told the nurse “oh great another college student wanting narcotics.” I have been afraid to ask for any kind of medicine from a doctor in fear they will think I just want drugs. I have never abused drugs in my life but she is not the only doctor to treat me like an addict. On that note, they shouldn’t even treat people with substance abuse issues badly to begin with. But yeah, it was a really terrible experiencing and when I went back to her a couple weeks later after severe pain, she refused to take my IUD out and prescribed me the birth control ring to go along with it. She also said that I had endometriosis and wanted induce early menopause on me when I was just 18. She gave me a bunch of pamphlets and I went home crying. My IUD ended up falling out a few days later and I was perfectly fine afterward. I never ever went back to her.

My take on the baby wearing white to the wedding - the mom totally wants extra attention for the baby & her on the wedding day. She's 3 AND the only grandchild? The baby's mom might be too passive to wear white to someone's wedding, but she could totally achieve some 2nd hand attention from having the only grandchild/baby at the wedding. Especially if she makes her a "tiny bride".👀☕

the 3yo is already going to be getting attention being the only kid, that’s one of the reasons why some people have kid free weddings. the little girl is going to be dancing and talking to people, she’s probably going to be fussed over. like she will have enough attention, i think the mom wants some “oh she would’ve made a perfect flower girl” comments. like OP’s wife wants attention/attention for her daughter so badly, knowing that she would upset the bride and groom, upset her husband, and for what? to make it known she wasn’t picked as a flower girl?? definitely ick behavior. if i was the bride, i would strongly consider uninviting the wife, tell OP that he is welcome to come and she can’t wait to see the little one’s yellow dress. or straight up uninvite the daughter as well, because the three year old isn’t going to care about not being at the wedding, and it would make it clear to the wife that she does not call the shots and her desperate grab at attention is not being tolerated in the slightest

Recently when my cat died (cancer) I couldn't be there for him, it happened really quickly and I was at school 75 minutes away and I wasn't in a position to leave until later in the day. Could be the case that he needs medication so he can better manage his behavior or a therapist can help them learn how to redirect him when he is sexually inappropriate. Very sad that they don't care about their child's comfort and instead turns it into a competition of who has it worse. Fast forward to now, I’m married to my husband who wants to adopt my son. The court made me hire a private investigator to find this man so I could have his rights terminated before the adoption could take place, despite me having proof of the texts that said he was blocking me and no contact whatsoever for over 7 years. There’s virtually no chance this woman would be able to keep him away from their kid, especially when he wants to be there and is willing to pay the child support.

The wedding dress story happened at my wedding sort of and im still annoyed by it. A woman in my husbands family brought her 3yr daughter in white dress and veil and then proceeded to parade the kid all over and interrupt the wedding photographer to take photos of her daughter with me and my husband and every person and item in the wedding. It was so narcissistic. I then found out she does this at other ppl’s weddings too. Once she interrupted a bride’s walk down the isle to take a pic of the bride with her daughter

I was cuddling with my bf and listening. He grabbed my body and told me “I love your body, I’d never ask you to change it” it made me cry. I’ve had weight loss/gain so I have some saggy skin on my thighs and belly. I’ve considered getting surgery but dread the idea of the pain and money of it. I said “you don’t think I should get my fat removed?” He said “of course not. Didn’t I lay my face there yesterday? I love you for you. Don’t pay money to change yourself when you don’t need too” 🥺💕 I can’t believe assholes like the guy in that story exist. But I feel so lucky to have my bf. I have had the same piercing for 10 years now and have had 3 kids and was never treated like this. I forgot to take it out when I went into labor with my first and the nurse just reminded me that we should probably remove it but it was up to me. There is nothing that fazes OB nurses in my experience, this nurse was out of line. For anyone that wants the advice, TAKE IT OUT FOR BIRTH! I tore both directions with my oldest and my cliterous was involved 🥴 it was easy enough to put the barbell back in after a week with it out. I personally wouldn’t use a retainer in case of tearing or someone hitting it or accidentally yanking it out. Childbirth can get pretty hectic and no one is watching for jewelry.

Hey for the last story, the guy did a final update in May; "It's quite a long story so the more condensed version is that I've met my daughter, my ex and I handled the custody and support agreement ourselves (still signed off by the court), we're both committed to making this co-parenting thing work and it's been going well so far. My wife and I are back at home and both excited about her nearing due date. We've decided to move on. The longer version: The last update ended with my ex threatening to fight me in court. Well, the lawyer I'd arranged suggested we give mediation a try and set that up with her lawyers and this mediator. Overall the mediation went quite shit and seemed to be more detrimental to us ever cooperating. We only had two actual sessions and both were just filled with unnecessary fighting and no resolution. Funny enough it was the chaos at the mediation that kind of proved to both of us we weren't interested in fighting each other indefinitely and she reached out late in the evening after the 2nd mediation asking to meet up the next day. In that meeting, we talked things out and listened to one another. Sorted through some baggage from our relationship as well as spoke about what exactly had been going on the past 5 years. Hours long conversation but it was totally worth it. We agreed that we'd make it work and put our daughter in the forefront. A meeting was arranged for me to drive over and see my daughter face to face and I did. At the time I wasn't introduced properly to her as her father and she obviously was cagey around this random dude around but it was still great seeing her that first time. She was/is seeing someone to help with my transition into her life and i've since been properly introduce to her and she's started calling me papa so things are going stunningly smooth and she's coping really well with it all. Plus my ex has floated around the idea that if she could find a job/better job where I am she'd consider moving so distance isn't too big of a problem though that's still a big if. For now, I'll just keep driving up to her until we're acquainted enough to allow her to make the trip to me. The last update on my wife left things at my sister posting about everything and my family fighting with my wife. My sister has removed the post and apologized to my wife although not sincere but still an apology. Still ongoing but attempts of reconciling my family and wife are going more or less well. My wife momentarily moved to stay with her parent to get away from everything for about a month but has since moved back to the house with me as we're soon expecting the birth of our child in the up and coming weeks. All extremely excited over that and we've worked through our issues. I'm sure most of you will be disappointed by this but I do 100% believe my wife and trust that she isn't some conniving person. She's still the woman I love and we're all to blame for the circumstance that led to this whole situation. All we can do is focus on the future. Big thanks to everyone who's offered their support and wishes as well as advice. I truly do appreciate all of it. And that's it. Signed off- a happy dad of (almost) 2"

I wasn’t the first or the last and it has been 10 years since he actually assaulted me, let alone the grooming, and I have told many people in my family exactly what he did to me, including cyber bullying and blackmail, and they don’t care because “he is family”… GIRL GO NO CONTACT. Agreed. My sister was sexually assaulted by one of the uncles and he's always been a creep and trying to touch our thighs and make jokes about our clothing etc. So we always wear less form fitting clothing around him because the rest of the family won't stop inviting him to events. He works a lot so it's rare he's around at events but when he is there, we stay away from him and we don't stay long. No one in our close family (parents/ siblings) like him and we all make sure to look out for each other but other family (aunts/grandparents) pretend it didn't happen. It's so stupid.

For the baby in a white dress story It's not about being upset that the baby is wearing white to your wedding. The baby(like you all pointed out) would be happy in anything. So for the 1st story, as a nurse myself, that’s is an absolutely unprofessional and disgusting response from the nurse and it should be reported. As for the friend, there is a reason she is ‘studying to be a nurse’ and not an actual nurse. You learn the most once you have your license and are out of the floor yourself and anyone who is an actual professional in the friend can tell you that was completely inappropriate. As for the wedding dress story, I will be wearing a black dress but only my closest friends know that and our wedding invite will explicitly say no white dresses despite that. I’m fine with simple black dresses for guests if they want, since they won’t know what I’m wearing, but EVERYONE knows that the automatic rule is don’t wear white to the wedding. The OP handled it so well, however the wife is completely in the wrong. Yes it a child so I would not be threatened, however the bride was appropriately asked prior and said no. They reason it’s not ok is because the child at 3 doesn’t care about what she is wearing and the mother KNOWS that rule of no white dresses and thinks that her opinion is more important than the actual bride’a and her event.

Yeah, I think it's a little weird that the wife got really mad about that. I'm sure there's something going on, but I don't want to think that she was purposely doing it to be petty. The second story makes me so angry. My uncle SA-ed me when I was little. He has bipolar and it really pisses me off when they bring up the fact that he has mental illness and life is hard for him. While I can empathize with him and what he goes through I am always reminded of the fact I have PTSD now because of him and his actions. (I also have Borderline Personality Disorder from other familial trauma). I have made the decision as an adult to stop seeing him, since he is also violent. This might be my trauma talking but F*ck OP’s family. It’s ridiculous this whole mentality of “well let’s just wait for something bad to happen.” And even when something happens people turn a blind eye. I only know of ONE person who established boundaries and pressed charges when their child was SA-ed by a family member, AND their family refuses to see THEM not because they pressed charges. Family shouldn’t equal a “free pass” to SA. NOTHING should ever equal a “free pass to SA”

About the flirty uncle story: It depends on what kind of mental illness is present. In cases of hypersexuality or sex addiction or a mental disability that affects the recognition of boundaries, it would make some sense why he’s very sexual/flirty in general interactions - *BUT* if those traits influence the people around them negatively in a „not feeling safe“-way (not in a „I’m uncomfortable with seeing symptoms of mental illness“ way) then the caretakers are *obligated* to guide them and talk about boundaries and consent. This should already be a part of their treatment as well. Having a mental illness is a reason but not an excuse for the caretakers of the affected to not do their job.

I agree. My stepdad's father had actual delusions (this was just before he was diagnosed with brain cancer) and one time thought I was a waitress at a bar in Cuba. He flirted with me as if I was that woman because that's what he saw me as. It wasn't malicious, it was a delusion. OP mentions in her post that she thinks the flirting from her uncle is because of his delusions, so I'm wondering if it's a similar thing? There is a big difference between uncle having depression and delusion. But the parents are huge assholes.

I agree completely however OP sounds like she is an adult. I KNOW times are difficult but if the reason the uncle is doing this is mental illness ( that we are unaware what it is and how desabling it is) then he probably needs lots of help. We don't know if grandparents are still around and may be the reason the dad feels responsible. Being an adult if I don't feel comfortable I remove myself from the situation and figure it out.

But even if he did read the message I say that the ex would just want child support and not him based off the fact he said he was a terrible boyfriend to her.

I literally was on the verge of tears hearing the story about the guy and his dog. I have had to experience my husband putting down his dog, who he has had with him for 13 years. I had to hold back my own tears to allow him his time to grieve and hold her as she passes. A dog/cat or any animal is not just a pet, they are family as you both put it. Loss is loss, pain is pain and I'm so sorry that man did not have the support he needed at that difficult time.

Alejandra supremacy!!!! Love her takes and also how she talked about her first initial response vs validating afterward. I always talk about how your first thought is what you formed from society (“eww”/second hand embarrassment) and your second thought (no they’re able to do that/validating the choice/action) is what you yourself formed!❤️

White dress to the wedding one: A) how stressful keeping the kid clean all day in white. B) it's a hand me down dress so it's not that big a deal to get another C) it's polite to ask and if that's how the bride feels that's how the bride feels 🤷‍♀️ Personally I wouldn't care but the husband 100% did the right thing

The first story GRINDS my gears. When I was pregnant it was peak Covid-19 and during the boom of pandemic babies, my doctor was always busy, but you better believe if I had a question they would do everything in their power to answer! This is a time of vulnerability and what you need the most is support, especially from your OBGYN or whoever is taking care of you during that time Also edit: why does a piercing, tattoo, or anything on your body dictate if you’re a good/loving mother😭

I took my cat into the vet when he was choking, literally struggling to breathe and I was a complete MESS. When they took him into the back my heart started racing and everything went black for a few moments. I was taken to the far back room, had a full panic attack with the kindest staff giving me hugs and water and checking on me almost every 30 seconds with updates on my boy. For anyone wondering, he is perfectly fine now, he has an obsession with plastic and my house is now on such a lockdown that I cannot even have plastic trash bag liners because he went so crazed not having any sort of plastic around that he might be able to find that he started eating things he normally would leave alone - including trash bags. It’s been a weird change, but pets are family and you cannot blame someone for how they react to their diagnosis or injury. The AITA Reddit says accept your label and she CLEARLY refused to accept she is TA.

When I first read the little girl white dress story, my first thought was that the wife wanted her to look like the flower girl. Since there are no other kids attending, and they’re specifically not having a flower girl, I feel like her reaction to him asking makes her intention obvious. If it really didn’t matter, why was she so upset that he asked? Why is her wearing white such a big deal….. Unless she wanted it to be one. The wife must have wanted the child to stand out more, as if thats not gonna happen already being the only child there at all AND the only grandchild of all of them. I don’t blame the bride for not wanting it, even if to some its a bit much. And I would be very wary of the wife who seems to have made this her hill to die on.

No wtf. I’m a nurse and first of all you have a legal right to speak to a provider. Second of all if you’re going to be uncomfortable or judgmental about people’s personal choices with their bodies, don’t go into healthcare. Thirdly, not that she needs a reason to justify seeing a doctor, but if something goes wrong with this piercing it can lead to infection and further complications with pregnancy, and a serious infection can lead to death. 100% that nurse was in the wrong

As a student nurse, this first story made me LIVID. It’s literally the job of the nurse to be nonjudgmental and maintain a therapeutic relationship. If she wasn’t comfortable, the nurse should’ve said that she doesn’t know and gotten a second opinion from either the doctor or another nurse.

(TW for mentions of SA) For the first story: the nurse was completely in the wrong. But I’d like to add, while this piercing IS a sexual piercing, not all genital piercings are done for sexual reasons, for example: I got my nips pierced after I was assaulted. It was extremely healing for me, and not sexual at all. I did it to reclaim my body as my own and I felt incredible and confident and brave after, knowing that it was my body for me to do with what I please.
@faceofvision
@faceofvision 2 жыл бұрын
I know that's not the point, but nipples are not a part of genitalia, therefore the piercing isn't "genital".
@CamDollar
@CamDollar 2 жыл бұрын
Why is it sexual? You think nipples are also sexual piercings? Just because it's on a part of the body covered by underwear doesn't make it sexual. If someone has a tattoo in those areas are they also sexual? This concept is so weird.
@mars4541
@mars4541 2 жыл бұрын
@@CamDollar also, if you’re asking why a CHP is sexual-it’s because it actively aids in the achievement of orgasms for people who have issues orgasming. But yeah, you just ignored the whole point that I made which is that: it’s not sexual for all of us? Breasts are erogenous zones. That’s science. But… again… my point was that it’s NOT SEXUAL FOR SOME OF US
@mars4541
@mars4541 2 жыл бұрын
@@faceofvision yeah, you’re right. That wasn’t the point. A woman opens up about being assaulted, and her healing journey there after and your first thought was “gotta fight semantics”. Read the fucking room.
@faceofvision
@faceofvision 2 жыл бұрын
@@mars4541 it literally wasn't a personal attack or an attack on your trauma. I'm sorry for what happened to you, and I myself have nip piercings for non sexual reasons, so I relate on some level. I'm just correcting one word, and you're acting like I invalidated your assault. Nipples/boobs not being genitalia doesn't invalidate whatever happened to you and in no way was I trying to do it.

as a soon to be new grad nurse, the first story blows me away!! the purpose of medical professionals are to be there for support and to answer questions, about anything! the fact that the nurse called her trashy and the friend said she was the one who was being rude… unhinged!! i would never want my patients to feel uncomfortable with me and people like that give nursing a bad rep!
@cnb19
@cnb19 2 жыл бұрын
I work in the medical field and have seen and experienced situations where the medical staff was subjected to something they did not consent to, but those times were explicit and intentional by the patient, support person, etc. There are lines and boundaries, but a question regarding your body in an attempt to do the right thing by it is no where near “subjecting” someone to something they didn’t consent to. The patient didn’t pull down her pants and show her, she asked. She didn’t request that the nurse remove it or touch it, etc. I do think there are a lot of instances where medical prof experiences unnecessary and unwarranted situations, but how they react is very telling. Neither the nurse or the friend who wants to be a nurse should be a nurse 🤷🏼‍♀️
