If there is one kind of Filipino Food that I would like to let my Dutch family try it is sinigang na baboy so in this video I will be buying the ingredients, cooking the dish and let my family try the food.
#pinoyplanet
I will give them a surprise food as well ;)
Sinigang is a sour soup from The Philippines and I used a hot sampalok mix (tamarind) with water, kangkong, eggplant (talong), White radish, pork meat (baboy) and onions.
Let me know in your comments what dish I should cook for them next time!

Good job! For sinigang, add 2 chopped tomatoes and 1 big onion to the pork pieces when you’re boiling them and the pork will be tastier as they get tender... If you can find taro(gabi) or Knorr sinigang mix with gabi the soup will be thicker and really creamy/tasty aside from sour... A good substitute for the kangkong(water spinach) is the Korean baby bok Choy that looks like our pechay with bigger leaves that makes the dish better... add a few pieces of whole chili peppers to give it a little kick. And ALWAYS serve it hot... You try big shrimps instead of pork. You cook the soup and veggies and add the trimmed shrimp (with head and shell) last and Leif it boil like 5-10 min. If you use fish sauce instead of salt, then the taste will be more authentically Pinoy....

well... may i suggest that everytime you let them taste...is you have to pair it with rice... esp. the filipino dish (viands-ulam)... all filipino or most of filipino ulan is very savoury, tasty and sort of salty... its a delight when you pair every ulam with rice...❤❤❤ love from the Philippines.

@Springtime101
@Springtime101 3 жыл бұрын
My parents grew up in the province. Do you know how they cook traditional Sinigang na baboy sa sampalok? We seethe the pork first til they become really tender. Dad always insisted to use unripened tamarind fruit. They don't like the commercially prepared mix. We seethe them until they get really tender (?). Then we crush them and collect their juice. We mix the juice with water to make the sabaw or soup. As for the gabi or taro, dad preferred the "gabing sungsong", the small size type. They're delicious compared to the typical taro. My parents' Sinigang is so delicious. It has this kind of sweet-sour taste unlike the artificial mix that stings the tongue and you know that it's really unnatural. Oh and yes, I agree with the other comments, it's supposed to be eaten with rice (rule of thumb). BUT still, I am so happy that your parents appreciate filipino foods. Maraming salamat and God bless you all. 🌼

I know this is one year ago, but have you tried Sinigang sa Miso? You cook it the same way, except you sauté the vegetables first (tomatoes, onions, garlic, etc), then add Miso paste. Then you add water. The meat used is typically fried fish, and you add dahon ng mustasa as the leafy vegetable.
