Beautiful area. Question: how do you guys support yourself while you do this?

Tasha is a free lance writer, and we make a tiny bit of money from KZfaq/Amazon Affiliate sales (usually around $100/month total so it's really not much). We originally planned to live off our savings for a year, we saved for 2 years before vanlife, in that time we saved around $45,000 (we budgeted hardcore during that time). $20k went to the van & build and $25k went to our savings. We're still working on becoming financially sustainable while living on the road honestly. But a lot of people will work on the winter time and travel in the summer. Or find gigs on fiver/upwork/etc.

Just wanted to add - vanlife can be incredibly cheap. It is for us. We spend around $900-1100 a month on bills and that's it, for 2 people. When we lived in the apartment we spent about 2-3x more. Our biggest expenses are groceries ($300-500/mo depending on if we eat out any) diesel ($80-300/mo), rv insurance ($125/mo), and our phone plan ($40/mo for 2 phones unlimited everything through Visible),

@@projectvagrant8197 Thank you for responding! How hard is it to find cheap places to park and stay?
@projectvagrant81973 жыл бұрын
Everywhere we have camped has been free other than 2 places we've stayed for just a night or 2 ($20/night at one place and $12/night at another). We use iOverlander (app) and the website freecampsites.net usually these free spots have no or little (vault toilet) amenities.
