GLACIER NP IN THE FALL IS INCREDIBLE: FISCHER CAP, REDROCK AND BULLHEAD LAKES ALL TO OURSELVES

The fall season is an excellent time to visit Glacier National Park. Especially the Many Glacier Valley area! On your way up to Swiftcurrent Pass via Swiftcurrent Pass Trail be sure to stop at Fishercap Lake, Redrock Lake and Bullhead Lake. In autumn the crowds are minimal and the views are abundant. During the summer these lakes will be overcrowded with people enjoying the beautiful weather and scenary. The shoulder season means low tourist numbers and a chance to enjoy Glacier National Park in complete solitude. Although the weather can be tricky, Glacier always delivers. The autumn colors near Fishercap Lake, Redrock Lake and Bullhead Lake will be exploding if timed correctly in mid to late September and early October.

Absolutely love Glacier! I've been there six times and never get tired of going back! Been to Banff and Yosemite; Glacier is still my favorite park. Nice reflections you got on Bullhead Lake with the fall colors. Glad the weather cooperated enough that you were able to start up Swiftcurrent Pass. Highly recommend going back to complete the hike someday; it's one of my all-time favorites. In early August of 2022, my sister and I hiked the Highline to Granite Park Chalet, up to Swiftcurrent Lookout (summit), then down Swiftcurrent Pass to Many Glacier. *We had a ride waiting at Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, and had taken the express free shuttle to Logan Pass that morning from St. Mary. An amazing 18 mile day! 😍 And we avoided much of the elevation gain going down the Pass rather than up, with the Highline being mostly flat. Hiking up the Pass to Swiftcurrent Lookout --while brutal for most-- would still be pretty tame by your standards 😉💪🥵 I'd share some of my own photos and videos of Swiftcurrent Pass and the Lookout, but don't have a KZfaq channel. 🤷‍♂️ But this video inspired me to hike it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nMx0i6eqnbbeiI0.htmlsi=2CDZPrw_nVLprwlp ^^The section around 4:50 at Devil's Elbow = must see! 😲 I also recommend hiking it in late July if possible, because the waterfalls coming down that massive cliff wall have much better flow earlier in the summer, which really adds to the amazing! Great content as always, Matt. Favorite channel on KZfaq! 👏

Awesome! I was able to get out to Idaho in October. I checked out Pioneer Cabin and then Alice Lake as a day hike. Both were great! @@TheMountainMatt

It's a great quick trail to those beautiful lakes 👍🏼 No wonder it's so popular during the busy season.

Did that hike back in August and Bullhead Lake exceeded my expectations. Like almost everything else in Glacier, pictures just can’t capture how beautiful it is in person.

Absolutely spot on! Everywhere there is the best 👍🏼 . When I make these vids I get frustrated at how the camera isn't given the Glacier its due justice.

Is that a new hat? lol!! Love all the vids man! wife and I were just there for two weeks. Sept 26th to Oct 10th. And yes the weather was tricky that last week of sept! But then it cleared to blue bird skies for several days in a row! so we hit Avalanche, Grinnel glacier, Hidden lake and Two Medicine south shore trail up to the swinging bridge. Do you fly into Kalispal every time you go? we fly into Missoula from south Florida with only one stop in Dallas then pick up our Motorcycle from Storage. Just curious how the logistics are for you coming from Minnesota. And what day did you do this hike?

I need new hats they're all disgusting from hiking 🤣 I appreciate you watching and glad you enjoy the videos! That's awesome you got a good string of days so late in the season! If we are planning on the westside of Glacier we'll fly directly into Kalispell from Minneapolis. If we are targeting the eastside we'll fly directly into Great Falls. I actually like Great Falls better because it's MUCH less busy over there. That video was actually from fall 2022 as I'm almost always 6 months to a year behind. I do all my editing in the late fall and winter months since it gets so cold here. Can't wait to share this past summers adventures starting in January! Cheers Dan!

I use a GH5. I have an extra IPhone 14 Pro Max that I give to whoever is out with me. I also have a couple GoPros for POV shots or if there is an extra person who wants to get some shots.
