Coffee with April

3 жыл бұрын

This week, we are experimenting with a new edition of our April Brewer, this time made from glass, and directly comparing the performance with the latest ceramic edition.
We have received many questions about the material choice of our April Brewer and in this video, we explore how the materials can affect different variables during brewing such as temperature stability and brew times.
If you're looking for more detailed recipe information, we suggest looking through our video history as we have multiple videos highlighting different methods and techniques to use when brewing our coffee.
If you're especially curious about the content that we produce, make sure to check out our Patreon as we have several different ways that you can join our community: / patrikrolf
We're always interested in hearing what topics you're most curious to hear us discuss, and Patreon is a great way of reaching out to us if you would like to make a request.
We welcome your thoughts and feelings on the topics raised in this week's video, as well as other ideas you would like to see us discuss in the future. We really appreciate your feedback and support.

I like the look of this glass one but I think I still prefer my ceramic one (and I prefer it being 1 part). Actually I would be more interested in cup/glasses made like this glass brewer ! And also being able to buy more of the ceramic cup without an extra brewer, they are nice and I'd really like to have a set.

Nice vid. Are you not pouring as close to the brewer as possible anymore?

looks nice but I found out I dislike brewers that are not one piece ( base is separate). Idk for me it just feels awkward to move around and clean and just disrupts my flow when I make coffee which may sound weird haha. Ill probably pick up a ceramic one though, it looks great!

How would you know if you have a 1st or 2nd gen ceramic version? My package says B8420001.

I am curious too, having not long bought one. I assume buying direct from April, it was 2nd generation. When I bought I was not aware more than one version.

You can see it on the inside of the filter. There are two different sizes of the three filter holders on the inside. Smaller = new, Larger = old. Both are equal in terms of performance.
@keithpp1
@keithpp1 3 жыл бұрын
Smaller or larger holes. Unless had one of each, would not know which one, as nothing to compare with for relative size. If no difference in performance, why two versions? The only rationale would be if the second version easier to manufacture or fewer rejects.

I would agree not designed for origami, but would be useful if could be used for origami as otherwise unstable.

@@coffeewithapril thanks for your response. I guess I've always been curious why the quality of small dose brews can't be replicated in larger doses by changing the brew bed (brewer size/shape) and water flow dynamics (kettle neck and or drip device such as gabi b) But I'm no physicist!

@keithpp1
@keithpp1 3 жыл бұрын
Please no, not plastic. We should be moving way from anything that is built of plastic. Tooling costs very high, production costs very low. Not cost effective for low production runs. What of a 3D printed version? This would enable those who have a 3D printer to make their own? Charge a small fee for use of intellectual property.
@dylanbeschoner

do 3D printers not use plastics?
@keithpp1
@keithpp1 2 жыл бұрын
@@dylanbeschoner Yes, 3D printers use plastic. But missing the point. Should not be producing a plastic version. We should be drastically reducing our use of plastic.
@ezer0923

Single use plastic yes But for something to be used for years? Plastic won't break when I drop it, glass would, ceramic would.
