Hello My FAVOURITE POTTERY PEOPLE!! If you’ve been following me over last couple of years you definitely know that I was not very consistent with uploading video’s… sorry! @@kdwalters4146 it's a great effect if that is what you are looking for, but a shocking result when you expect a smooth, svelte glaze.

@@CarettaLynn agreed, and I never intended to get the Warts, and try my darndest to get rid of them. I have re-glazed and applied a really runny glaze for the re-galze. Mostly successful in getting rid of them. Very curious what it is with the darks clay bodies that produces that. I too thought I just didn't get to a high enough temp.

Hey Sweet Sarah, I love your combos. I will say, I have had The Warts on many of my pieces as well, most times the dark clay bodiies. Mine have been mostly the Winterwood and I thought it was the glaze, but I am thinking it must have to do with the heat not getting high enough. I have often thought I should get new elements, but other times my glazes come out nicely, so I understand the ache in the noggin from trying to figure this out. As always we love love love your videos, and are so blessed you take the time to share your journey with us.

I am not pottery person but I find your "epic" failure with warts actually lovely. Sure, you have to resolve the warts issue 😂, but glaze combination on the outside is lovely. I also love the pink on dark clay and pink is my least favourite color. 😂 Also, the last two cups are just gorgeous - they bring Arctic to mind. Overall, I would say great results and failures are only learning opportunities. Congratulations on retirement from day job and starting on this pottery adventure full time. And bring on the website!

Love it ! The opening and then the before and after 🤩👌 question: how does pink sunset look by itself without the other glaze? I love the color combo but I’m afraid that other color will cause too much drip. I need it not to move 😅

Thank you!! 🥰 I love getting feedback and it’s good to know that the B & A is liked!! I also appreciate your support of my channel!!! As for your question, Sunset Pink is brighter, none of the milky-ness that the Archie Base gives, but it is very stable on its own and really doesn’t move. 😁🥰

I'm just now learning pottery and haven't even fired my first ones yet, but how do you get that speckled look on the bottom of some of your goblets? I'm love it
@SarahWaltonPottery
@SarahWaltonPottery Жыл бұрын
Hi! And welcome to the pottery world!! You’re gonna love it!! the speckles comes from the clay body I use 2 different but I think the one you’re referring to is Laguna 606, which has lot of speckles and I also use PSH 455 which has a more subtle speckled. Both are beautiful!!

Hi Andrea! Thank you, I'm so glad that my videos help. Ceramics can be such a humbling experience I don't think that non-potters fully understand all the things that can, and do, go wrong along the journey from clay ball to finished ware. So when things are successful we are extra pleased!! I use PC-45 Dark Green. 😊

does the movement depense on the multiple layers, or are there special tipes of glazes that runs?
@SarahWaltonPottery
@SarahWaltonPottery Жыл бұрын
Well that really depends. Some glazes will move when thicker layers are applied, sometimes they are stable and don’t move. Some glazes are runners and give beautiful drips and movement… sometimes you can have 2 glazes that are both stable but when layered you get gorgeous drips…sorry that there really isn’t a yes/no answer…it takes lots of trial and error

Thank you so much Robbie! I appreciate your kind words. I agree, failure is a strong word, and I always try and learn from my mistakes or disappointing results. And there is a lot of that with pottery! haha xo

The black clay is stunning but I’m told it’s not microwave safe? Have you had any issues Sarah?
@SarahWaltonPottery
@SarahWaltonPottery 11 ай бұрын
Hi Betty, It gets REALLY hot in the microwave so I also do recommend doing so. It has a very high iron content and especially handles could burn hands. I have a disclaimer on my website on pieces where I use the darker clay bodies to not use in the microwave, and I place a card in the box that states that also. If selling at a market I have little tags with care and size etc that I attach to all my pieces. But thats all you can do, or just make pieces that are not for the microwave, like vases and bottles etc. I'm very excited for you as you embark on the new journey of pottery! it's a very humbling hobby...cheers xo

I use alabaster on red plainsman 390 clay a fair bit and find it actually helps some glazes fit the dark clay in combination. Just don't put it on too thick or expect it to cover completely opaque.
