I remember when Dad got his first Gleaner. I was about 10 or 11 y/o. It harvested three rows! By the time he retired, he had an eight or ten row!! 😊

Gleaner builds top notch combines. 3 rows was hood size in the 60’s. It’s amazing how combines have grown over the years. Now 6 row is small and 18 row is big.

Can't beat the 8820 igot in 1978 I loved that combine from 78 until 84 idid about 30,000 acres corn and soybeans it was pretty much used up repairs every day it was a pleasure to run

Wow gleaner is back ( Cummins diesel)

Gleaner used the Cummins engine into the early 2000’s. The current S series uses a 7 cylinder inline AGCO engine. It’s very reliable and runs much quieter than the Cummins in R series.

Sure is different than the old days, use to have to keep adjusting the corn Head hieght or you would get a snout in the dirt

awesome combine harvester # as i understand it separates corn grain ,leaves & stems #👍🇵🇰

The corn head snaps the ear from The stalk and tramples down the stalk and leaves into the field. A rotor in the combine separates the cob from the grain. Some leaves run into the combine but mostly you see the husks and cob spit out the back of the combine.

Gleaner needs to Lengthen the Wheelbase on those Combines and Move the Rear Axle further back to help Balance those Combines Out, so there is Not So much Bouncing going on with the 12 Row, 40’ & 45’ Headers. That Rear Axle is just too far forward, they have been using that wheelbase for 30+ Years, it needs to be updated on the S97 & S98 Combines just like everything else has been updated. Lengthen the Wheelbase would also give it more Cleaning area in the Chaffer & Sieves. It’s balanced just Fine for a 6 or 8 Row Head, but not for the 12 Row’s & 40/45’+ Headers. Still a Fan of them along with the Twin Rotor New Holland & Claas Combines.

Class 6 and larger Gleaner transverse rotor machines have lifted 12 row cornheads with zero added ballast since their inception in the late 70s. Seems pretty balanced to me...

@@rborneman It’s not whether the Combine has the Hydraulic Ability to Lift the Head (because it does), but the Balance of the Machine. Every Other Manufacturer has Lengthened the Wheelbase of their machines over time to help with the Balance and Ride of the Combine. That is why you see Zero Bounce and Bucking in their Combines compared to these Gleaner Combines which are using the Same Wheelbase since the Inception of the R Series Combines 35+ Years ago.

That wasn't my experience with the gleaner m Actually the old MF 750-760s were really bad for throwing it over the strawwalkers Gleaner has those MF beat big time
