You can tell Quinn's mom did know she was pregnant, she was just trying to pretend everything was alright.

If Ryan Murphy wanted Quinn to remain unlikeable, unredeemable, and unsympathetic he shouldn't have included meeting her parents. It really gave insight into why Quinn is how she is, her motivations, her views, why she is how she is and just how big a change she really went through

With Quinn’s backstory, as a chubby girl who wasn’t particularly pretty, I wonder if that’s why her mom made the comment about weight. It’s obvious Quinn’s parents are superficial and probably didn’t show Quinn tons of affection until she was thin and pretty. I can only imagine how many comments were made at her anytime she didn’t fit their mold of beauty. Quinn also has an older sister. I wonder if she felt compared to her too?

I love This scene, it shows so much about what her parents were like and gives an insight to how Quinn was treated. The scene implies she has built walls because of the way she was brought up, the strict Christian values(“the chastity ball”), how much appearances matter (“you know how important this is to your father”) ,how Russel was the controller of the house(“I’m your wife”), possibly the expectation of Quinn to marry and be a house wife(“speaking of marriage”), the emphasis on her weight (“you don’t burn many calories singing show tunes”), her parents are possibly drinkers as it emphasises Judy picking up the glass resulting in her not being open with her parents due to fear of not living up to their expectations which would result in them, her church and the community turning their backs on her. As it is a short scene however this probably only scratched the surface of what her parents were like and for her to fear consequences of her actions she must have experience with her parents attitudes and know how they would react. Which is why she knew she couldn’t tell them. This could also explain why she doesn’t feel loved (“I just want somebody to love me”) later on due to the restrictions and pressure to seem perfect (“if you don’t talk about it it doesn’t exist”) which probably made her feel a forced unnatural kind of love. Added with them kicking her out and losing Beth consequently making it difficult for her to form lasting relationships as she doesn’t want people hurt her or to leave her as most of the closest people to her have (Finn, Judy, Russel, Beth).

I find it funny that it's a dress for a dance that's about waiting till marriage.

I think the way she was hugging her and playing with her hair was he trying to give an ounce of comfort because as much as she didn't want to talk about it she knew the kind of shit Quinn was gonna be in

As much as Quinn had her bitchy moments I feel so sorry for her! Due to her highly religious parents she wasn't able to tell her parents about her pregnancy and I believe her dad to be very verbally abusive from the way her mum is so scared of him in future scenes xx

Quinn was such an underrated and under developed character. Yeah she did a lot of crazy things, lots of cheating and boyfriend switching, obsession with popularity and prom queen but you can just barely see why in this episode. I really wish her family dynamic and back story were explored a little more so she could be more sympathetic
