Funny how a rocker like me actually loved this song when i was 5 yrs old. Still do actually. If Country music had stayed this good, I might have followed it more. Sadly, 90% of it over the last 25 yrs just plain sux!

That was just what the Doctor ordered! That was a beautiful tune penned by the great Jimmy Webb & I still love it!! Glen Campbell was an awesome guitarist and an even better vocalist. Someone should do the country a favor and re-release his music so a new generation can get a dose of something ever so excellent!

Heard a recent interview with Glen Campbell on the radio. When asked what he liked most about fame he said being able to help his mum and dad get out of the grinding poverty he was brought up in.

I was a rhinestone cowboy for a 70s dance. They played it for me at the end. Didn’t have such a beautiful horse though. I did have a beautiful dark bay horse back then. (2022). He died in 2023, and around my birthday.

I was 12 when i heard this song and in America for the first time. My family and I were driving along when we came accross a Policeman directing traffic with his gun whilst singing, whilstling and doing tricks. We kids got a huge thrill out of this and just loved it. This evening for some reason the song came to my mind again and it brought the sheer joy of seeing and experiencing America through the eyes and ears of a child on that marvelous day in L.A. right back to me. Thanks.
