For the good part of the last 10 to 12 years, this beast of a truck spent most of its life being used as a spare truck across all Solo contracts over time. #1613 started its life as an Onkaparinga contract truck over in Adelaide and originally had a finger plate lifter on it too! Although when it became a spare, it was later converted to a grab lifter. It is a 2006 model with a big Cummins ISC05 engine under the cab which always provided good sound and power when on the road. Most of the time, it was the main spare truck over at the Clayton yard and was always mainly seen working in the Glen Eira contract and it would sneak out to Monash on the rarest of occasions. I have spent many hours in this truck riding around in it when it was being used in Glen Eira and would make my day when I was able to spend a full day in it.
Over to the video, we look at #1613 handling one of the old weekly garbage runs on a Friday in Glen Eira when the drivers full-time truck was off the road. I had gotten videos of this truck in the past but was never happy with my results, hence why I saw this opportunity to get a really good video of it with a gun operator behind the wheel. #1613 was a grouse truck to cruise around in and as many would like to say down here, it was a lovely old girl to drive.
In the last few years, it was being used in the Baw Baw Shire contract and just recently I was privileged enough to be given the opportunity to drive it up to Adelaide where it was going to be used for spare parts and finally retired! I can say that #1613 flew up to Adelaide and the Cummins ISC05 didn't skip a beat. Cheers to the legendary driver for letting me get a video and I hope you Enjoy!!! ;) ;) ;)
