She is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Loved her growling, snarling, feral feline command of the role of Gudrun Brangwen in "Women in Love." Her other work, of course, is magnificent too. 🎹❤🎆

I remember sneaking into a local movie theater at age 13 to see Ken Russell's WOMEN IN LOVE. The entire film enraptured me but it was Glenda Jackson's performance which stopped me dead in my tracks; it was love at first sight. John Dickerson, with his Intelligence, Sensitivity and Tact, was the perfect interviewer for Jackson. He was able to pull out her essential qualities in a way few other interviewers have done.

What a mistake to let go of John Dickerson, he and Nora were the best on this morning show, and now they are gone, John is just a superb human being...

I saw that it was on Britbox and I want to give it a watch. The only problem is I’ve seen a mini series of the prime of Miss Jean Brodie, father Brown and Lord Peter Wimsey series from 70s British tv and they are horribly filmed. After watching a few clips here on YT I see Elizabeth R looks the same. Everything was staged as a play. I don’t know how many cameras they were using but the coverage is not what we are used to now. Basically they are a struggle to get through because the direction is so static and the feel of it is so stagey that no matter how interesting the topic is I have a bit of trouble focusing in on it because the production value isn’t as good. The BBC really fixes this by the 80s however. Miss Marple with Joan Hickson are very well done. They look great and the direction is much more modern and engaging.

@@calebcostigan2561 well, if you can’t get over the production model, it’s your loss.

@@DeepScreenAnalysis oh, come on now that is harsh. I subscribe to BritBox I am a huge fan of their television but you have got to admit the 1970s was not the heyday for quality as far as direction went. There’s no need to be snippy and rude about something that neither one of us created but we can both enjoy. Criticizing something doesn’t mean it’s worthless. They are basically filmed plays. And also out of the 10 father Brown‘s which are available here on KZfaq, there are line flubs in every single one of them. I guess no one called cut since the takes are so long because they’re basically filming a play… The “old days” doesn’t always mean it was better.

@@calebcostigan2561 there’s nothing wrong with filmed plays. Television at its root was live theatre. If you can’t accept that, it’s your issue.

@@DeepScreenAnalysis not when it’s advertised as such. No, I don’t have a problem with that. However, the BBC had much better material to work from than their American counterpart ABC, CBS or NBC but they did eclipse them in creativity and direction. The 70s model of the BBC was antiquated by the 1970s. They did bring themselves out of it by the 80s. Thank you for admitting that they just filmed everything as a play. If the stuffiness and stagy quality doesn’t bother you -good. A good example of a filmed play that work is 1987s (?) Ghosts but Ibsen starting Dench, Branagh and Gabon. It’s fascinating but so is the radio version with Leslie Manville.

Why do some women think the solution is all women? Haha Aren’t we all people capable of making the same mistakes in the same job? Shouldn’t the person who is best fitted for the job, male or female get said job? This shows socialism for what it really is. Authoritarian tendencies exist on both sides. Use common sense. Don’t be afraid to meet people in the middle. Don’t be a “one size fits all”, party line person.

But the best person isn't always getting the job because it's not a level playing field. Women don't get the same shot. And she's not saying it should be all women, just more women, the same number of women as have something positive to provide. Due to the fact that they don't get the same opportunities (copiously documented so give up your inane position that it's currently equal) they are not able to have the same input and say in how things are run. This has nothing to do with socialism, it has to do with chauvinism. Male chauvinism. How ridiculous to assume all things are equal so advocating more access for women is somehow unfair. It's unfair currently, HENCE the advocacy just so they can get the same chance.
