Yeah, I too was there....... Many years later watching the London Olympics closing when Queen performed and they played a tape of Freddie playing with the crowd, and the live crowd responded, my wife just quietly said " Oh my God, he can even do it when he's dead"

What gets me is when Freddie says "all right" and the crowd responds with "all right" and he smiles because he didn't expect that.

I was 24 living in Dallas Texas when I watched this concert live. Queen was the stuff of dreams and fairytale. God bless Freddie Mercury’s soul for bringing so much joy to our lives.

I was there in that crowd. Queen were the absolute highlight of the whole concert. Freddie lifted the atmosphere from low to ecstatic in 15 seconds, it was electric. I'll never forget it. I only bought the ticket to see Bowie, then I discovered it was a whole day. 🥳

Fun fact. The Sound Engineer at Live Aid in UK show was a dear friend of Freddie & Queen. He engineered the sound system fully to certain specifications. He also the sound board. Per Queen's request he had a switch taped off. When Queen took the stage he flipped the switch no one knew about except for him & Queen...to make Queen the loudest band at the event! True story!!

OK I'm old, I saw Queen live 5 times. Live Aid, to this day it's the largest concert ever held. It was in aid to raise money for the Ethiopian Famine in the early 1980's. At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded be the horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who I had fought along side in a war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is one of the two worst memories I have. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears.

The best thing about his absolute control over that entire audience is that it wasn’t even his audience necessarily. They didn’t all go there to specifically see queen. But queen is what we all remember. That’s epic.

I remember this, the other bands came out and played a couple of tunes, almost half heartedly. You almost could see Bob Geldof twisting their arms behind their backs. Then Queen came on and treated it like a paying gig, gave their all and left the stage. The rest, as they say, is history......

I was 16 during Live Aid. The concert started at 8pm here in Australia, and I sat in front of the TV for about 15 hours waiting for Queen to come on and I was not disappointed. It's 30 years since Freddie died and not seeing Queen live in person is still my greatest regret in my concert viewing life.

I think one of the most amazing things about this, is that most people gathered, merrily singing Queen songs, were fans of other groups. This was Live Aid, charity, and a lot of people were secretly waiting to see how well Queen would do without a fan base, without flashing lights and theatrics. And they just went in there, ruled the stage and everyone turned into a fan.

No autotune or pitch correction back in them days, just let that sink in for a minute !

I was born in 1944. And when rock 'n' roll hit the scene in the mid-50's, I had no interest in it. It all seemed so childish, or perhaps it was self-centered pubescence. Whatever, I paid very little attention to rock through the 50's and 60's. The Eagles got to me in the 70's, along with some others. But by and large, music for me was the classics and show tunes. Then, in 1985, I was living in Germany teaching English as a Second Language. After a long Saturday morning, I came home eager to enjoy what was left of the weekend. Once I got home, I turned on the little black and white TV I had been lent in hopes of finding something I could understand enough to enjoy. What I came across was the Live Aids broadcast from Wembley Stadium I shrugged and watched. Almost immediately, Queen was on stage. For the next 20 minutes I was glued to my seat, absolutely dumbstruck by Freddie Mercury's performance. In the wake of this extraordinary experience, I learned to appreciate a good deal better just what rock had to offer. My horizons were most happily expanded. And I still think of the Wembley experience and Queen as an epiphany, my own little satori. It's a memory I treasure still and always will.

That Queen was probably the most educated rock band ever. Freddie Mercury - degree in Art & Graphic Design, Roger Taylor - Biology, John Deacon - Electronics & Brian May - Astrophysics (& recently completed his doctorate after a 30-year hiatus).

I don't think I'll see a showman control an audience like Freddie did. He was a ONCE in five generations man.

I was lucky enough to see Queen four times live when they came to Kansas City. I remember each one fondly and as I age with a sense of reverence.

Freddie was suffering from a throat infection and they told him not to come out and sing but a few shots of vodka got him on stage and he blew the audience and everyone outta the water cuz he knew this was going to be one of his last performances! I get so emotional watching this and the set list is so foreshadowing. I remember watching this on tv when I was young
