Global phone number from Skype, MagicJack, TextNow or Google Voice provides awesome convenience when we are traveling the world. In this video I test several several of these virtual phone number options to see which ones really work the best when we are out traveling the world.
WHAT IS A GLOBAL VIRTUAL PHONE NUMBER?
* Only needs an internet connection to work
* No SIM card or E-SIM needed
* No expensive international roaming
* No connected to any country's phone plan
* Just a way to call and text from any where in the world
A MUST HAVE FOR GLOBAL TRAVELER
Anyone who wants to explore what the world has to offer, whether for short duration or for longer time, very soon realizes that much is tied to our phone number, especially the 2 Factor Authentications for financial matters. I highly recommend everyone to have a virtual phone line, which is global phone number setup that works with 2 FA calls and texts.
A second phone number is provides convenience in every day life when we do not want to give out our personal or primary phone number. If the secondary phone number is a cloud based pone or voip phone, it just adds a level of convenience.
PHONE COMPANIES TESTED:
* TextNow : based in Waterloo, Canada
* Google Voice: based in California, USA. Owned by Google.
* Magic Jack: based in Florida, USA.
* Skype: based in Sweden. Owned by Microsoft
I have tried several phone companies for more than a year and finally settled on four. I have four different phone numbers from these four companies and tested them all for voice calls and texts. The video shows voice call section only.
Skype provides phone number for 26 countries!
MY SUGGESTION:
Skype is my #1 recommendation. It is paid service, about $50 a year but totally worth every penny based on the convenience it provides. It's amazing feature is the Caller ID mask that I can overlay on any phone number - more on that in separate video. Skype is what I now use for 2 Factor Authentications for my personal accounts.
HOW TO GET THESE PHONE NUMBERS:
a) TextNow
