“It has become almost impossible to say, ‘I don’t care about future generations,’ ‘I don’t care about poverty in the midst of plenty’ and ‘I don’t care if there are 200 million climate refugees in 2030. Altruism should not be relegated to the realm of noble Utopian thinking maintained by a few big-hearted, naïve people. On the contrary, it is a determining factor of the quality of our existence, now and to come. Do you know where I can contact or get a message to any of this board? I am studying the third factor Holiness speaks of here. I am not a scientist but a meditator. I am really exploding from within to get this information to the scientific community but said scientist would have to preliminarily understand karma and how consciousness gives rise to an appropriate body for its karmic learning. I am figuring out what cells actually are and what DNA actually is by looking at karma cause and effect and I need to tell someone. It could change everything. Thanks

The world has been run by conmen for a looooooooong time..They permeate the 'culture' from within.. "Mathematics has the completely false reputation of yielding infallible conclusions. Its infallibility is nothing but identity. Two times two is not four, but it is just two times two, and that is what we call four for short. But four is nothing new at all. And thus it goes on and on in its conclusions, except that in the higher formulas the identity fades out of sight." (Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe)

I was raised in the midwest.I did not ee anyone in the Tibetan monk's robes or lay teacher's culturally standard chuba (skirt and jacket ensemble). But now, after 15 years I do not think twice about it. And though the cultural differences were so sharp to me at first, I spent three days a week with a teacher who was raised in and lived a monastery for 25 five years. By the fifth or sixth year of my attending his advanced-degree Buddhist college I completely acclimated. But I not know how I would react if I came upon him in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

The scientist asked about how the brain, after death, could maintain consciousness that is then reincarnated. I think that there is a misunderstanding of the brain in Western culture. The brain is physical. What if, ike the Buddhist scholars say, the mind is subtle energy -- moving consciousness -- a part of the subtle energy body? Then it cannot be destroyed through the death of the brain and body. Like the other scientist says later, it would explain phenomena like clairvoyance, past life memory and the like. In psychology, it's known that people can disassociate from their body due to trauma. On the battlefield, there are stories of men who flew home, then back to the war, all through spirit. What about when you can feel someone is looking at you? These types of things make perfect sense if the mind is a subtle energy, rather than housed solely in the brain.

The concept of rebirth is astonishingly true. I don’t know if god exist or not and that’s for another debate/discussion. One of my neighbors had a baby daughter and when she turned around the speaking age(3-4), she started saying things she never learned from her family. The blurry names of where she came from and her previous life in a subtle way. Later, after few years they did a research and found the names, locations, things, and everything she mentioned before do exist and they all met and are very close now. It was found out that a Grandpa passed away and born again as that little child.

The subtle-most substance of the phenomenal world is the world-soul (wheel of samsara) fragmented into individual souls as an ocean is to its waves. Alan Watts posed the question, "What is the difference between dying and being reborn with no memories of previous lives, and dying and someone else being born?" The implication was no difference.
@ericklopes4046
@ericklopes4046 5 жыл бұрын
This question along with the realisation that all of your memories are in your brain just like everything that makes you alive are results of biological processes should be enough to kill any belief in an afterlife or reincarnated souls. Shit's so simple to grasp yet such beliefs still linger. The only possibility left for the afterlife is the Matrix one, maybe quantum suicide to test it, but I wouldn't bet on it. When I was a kid I had a similar question, If I changed souls with a newborn baby when I was born, would it make any difference as in who I am today? Where do souls come from and when do they become human? And where do they go? What are they made of? What do souls do anyway? Do they begin? Do they end? I got to the conclusion that if there is something that we can call soul, then there is only a single soul on Earth, and it began with the first life form as a simple proto cell and got more complex in both number and quality as it evolved through billions of years, and it will end when all of its descendants die off. Not very comforting, but more realistic.

@ericklopes4046
@ericklopes4046 4 жыл бұрын
@@hellboundtruck123 I didn't know that, that is interesting. I looked it up and it seems like they believe in energy, but it does not retain memory and it's not an essence of self that survives physical death. It's like you're made of/consumes a cup of energy to live, but when you die that energy is poured back to the energy pool from whence it came so other cups are filled with it again. Again, not very comforting, but more realistic. What's even more interesting, if you define religion as a faith based belief system that involves belief in a supernatural essence of self that survives death and/or belief in one or more gods, then Buddhism doesn't fit in that definition. We're not used to religions being like that here in the West. If it can't help you with death or give you definitive, supreme, unquestionable, personal guidance then it's not worth it.

Dear Carol, I totally understand. The Dalai Lama has written many books. So, if you have difficulty understanding his spoken words you would probably enjoy much more his written words. If you are interested in the topic of this video, I would suggest you have a look at his book 👉👉👉 "The Universe in a Single Atom: The Convergence of Science and Spirituality" You can have a look inside the book for free here: amzn.to/2KELLPV Here is what Amazon says about the book👉👉👉 "Gallileo, Copernicus, Newton, Niels Bohr, Einstein. Their insights shook our perception of who we are and where we stand in the world and in their wake have left an uneasy co-existence: science vs. religion, faith vs. empirical enquiry. Which is the keeper of truth? Which is the true path to understanding reality? After forty years of study with some of the greatest scientific minds as well as a lifetime of meditative, spiritual and philosophical study, the Dalai Lama presents a brilliant analysis of why both disciplines must be pursued in order to arrive at a complete picture of the truth. Science shows us ways of interpreting the physical world, while spirituality helps us cope with reality. But the extreme of either is impoverishing. The belief that all is reducible to matter and energy leaves out a huge range of human experience: emotions, yearnings, compassion, culture. At the same time, holding unexamined spiritual beliefs-beliefs that are contradicted by evidence, logic, and experience-can lock us into fundamentalist cages. Through an examination of Darwinism and karma, quantum mechanics and philosophical insight into the nature of reality, neurobiology and the study of consciousness, the Dalai Lama draws significant parallels between contemplative and scientific examination of reality. “I believe that spirituality and science are complementary but different investigative approaches with the same goal of seeking the truth,” His Holiness writes. “In this, there is much each may learn from the other, and together they may contribute to expanding the horizon of human knowledge and wisdom.” This breathtakingly personal examination is a tribute to the Dalai Lama’s teachers-both of science and spirituality. The legacy of this book is a vision of the world in which our different approaches to understanding ourselves, our universe and one another can be brought together in the service of humanity." Thank you for all you do Carol to contribute to a world of global well-being 🙏 May we, and all sentient beings, live in peace and harmony with love and respect, righteousness and justice, loving-kindness, mercy and compassion for ourselves, each other, the earth, and all that lives, throughout time and space 😀

Start at the right end. Forgett understanding soul and god. Your starting point is ateism. There is no god and there is no soul. Just drop it. And you should focus on your self, your moral, how to live happy, you need to practice this first. Do some yoga and basics of meditation. And from there you will slowly work your way up. Be dicipline and dont quit. Practice this at least most days of the weak more or less. Find your inner peace or at least try to. Quit alkohol and other drugs like nicotine. Start working out. Take care of both body and mind. Work on beeing humble and so on. And just dont do it becuse its expected. Belive in it. Point out your flaws, your urges, your fears, try to understands the concept of letting go on controll. And I mean real think on what it means in the deepest way you possible can imgine. And very inportant always work on improving how to love your surrounding, and appriciate thoes Who loves you. Dedicacte a whole evning by your self just meditating of what love means to you and The People Who loves you.. Just really dig in it.

At a yoga retreat I attended in 1974, I overheard yogi Baba Hari Dass telling a young couple he was counseling, "The soul enters the body at 21 weeks." Therefore, consciousness is not in the embryo at conception, and rebirth, in that sense, doesn't start at that time. I have studied this subject for 50 years. I am amazed at the guesswork being done by famous religious figures on this topic.

Cause becomes effect. Things originate from a very similar source. There is only transformation , no new creation as such. With this in mind, understand that consciousness originates from consciousness. Body originates from body, mind from mind, soul from supreme soul, and so on. Universe itself has originated from a previous universe. And we even though are composite beings in a dynamic state, we must have existed before. Reincarnation is clearly believable phenomenon.

How to understand: grandmother in Toledo believes in Jesus and his meeting her in the sky, so she sees due to proper practice and paradigm. Buddhist practicing in Burma, herds cattle and strives with Bodhisattva heart, believes in reincarnation and humbly approaches death with Bardo visualizations. How does 'belief' play a role? Without a central belief regarding one's own post-death due to a lack of belonging 'tradition', for one who believes in the multitude of beliefs due to a person's decision, (a respect for difference and integrity; a sort of selflessness), one who approaches death in wonder and mystery, what might be revealed?

Correct me if im wrong or clraify it for me, but with my limited view having not achived Arahant in this "life" i see reincarnation Like a modal change in a musical piece , in my view reincarnation sheds light on something in a new way, making what happened contrast what is happening now, so it is seen in a new light ir mental state, i feel once you have a deep realisation and success on the buddahs path, you are reincarnated in a sense. You look back on the life you had, the thoughts you had, the way you acted and its as tho it was another life within your own time here on earth, this is "heavenly" to say the least and if not realised with the correct intent or view still holding fetters it is very "humanly" of you, the new person you have become is one step closer to enlightenment. Now looking down at the layer of conciousness you came from, you see you are on a ladder of mental deaths, diminishing fetters and supressing hindernaces till your physical death and what would be the complete and total liberation of all fetter and hinderance carrying personas possible in your life

I didn't die... tried to.. feeling like something the cat dragged in ... but I came back in as you were talking about mind and energy.. and I think we use the word energy and imagine there's more than one kind... and I am not sure there is.. it's looking like I can fit everything together with plain old magnetism... magnetism is the chicken.. electricity... and everything else.. are the egg... light is magnetic... when it interacts with something else the electrons are excited.. and give off a photon... or an electron as beta radiation.. but the electrons are not passing through space or atmosphere.. they are already there.. called the photo electric effect by Albert Einstein.. which changed my ideas about what a superconductor is... they pass magnetic energy with no resistance... in the case of carbon.. diamond passes heat, magnetism... as well as light.. with no resistance... our bodies work in real time because the nociceptin in the cells of the blood brain barrier carrying a standing magnetic field from each part of the body to and from the brain 🧠... our brains are... a little warmer than room temperature superconducting computers... and as we travel round and round with Planet Earth... we are traveling in spirals around the Sagittarius arm of our galaxy... through the quantum foam created by the passage of light through vacuum... new stuff is forming continuously all around us all the Time... and our thoughts and ideas... our words and deeds are indelibly written on the very fabric of reality... and we are leaving a you shaped groove through Space Time... with a permanent record of all your thoughts, ideas... words and deeds... karma... it's not make believe... it's quantum physics... and.. presumably.. it follows us around... for as long as we need to figure out... that being nice is... ok... heavy physics... simple philosophy... be nice... you will be glad you did Peace ✌️ y'all thanks for letting me share Your Holiness... so.. the next man asks about what is called chi.. or qi... in Chinese medicine... very mysterious until you know about neurotransmitters and their function facilitating the passage of magnetic fields along each pathway to, and from, the brain... nociceptin is the catalyst that is responsible for this passage of energy... a standing magnetic field along each pathway means what happens on one side of a magnet happens to the other at the same time... that is how we can respond to the environment in real time and avoid hungry lions and hot stoves long enough to pass on our genes to the next generation... neurotransmitters are not extra.. or optional in any way... our bodies and all the other bodies on the Planet require those neurotransmitters to function... they don't work without them.. they are the foundation of Life itself... no magic involved... looks like it is done with magnets... a unified field theory... but simple.. nothing new... chi.. energy ☯️

Let me take a stab at the scientist’s wondering from my different observations in single sentences: There can only be so much of something before it repeats itself on this planet. Things are here and everywhere at the same time. What if diversity is only an appearance and appears infinite? We stem from a similar kind. People can have doppelgängers on opposite sides of the planet. Attitudes can be identical in two different looking people. We all know a single personality we can’t stand being around and luckily these are few and far between, but there’s always one. If bodies are measurements, reincarnation is not?

But until now science still don't understand what is consciousness ? If they do, they will come up with a second version of QM and Qm is still now at the foundation after 100 years.

Max Planck regarded consciousness as fundamental in the universe. Everything in the universe is made of energy. Maybe consciousness is energy and energy never lost in the universe but only transform from one energy to another. Some scientist says the brain created consciousness but then how come meditation can reshape the brain ? meditation is NOT physical exercise but only mental thought.

Karma its the continuos main rool of us here (on earth) or other realm. its to the mind, the soul, and the self, to get it trought it. At "purgatory" you will be stronger to the next life. there are demons... on our heads,... on our hearts , trying to make us captive and not to see the light. Even then... they make parte of the world and, its upon us to clear or, accept it all. blessed are the budisths.

ālaya-consciousness [阿頼耶識] ( ālaya-vijnāna;  araya-shiki): Also, storehouse consciousness, never-perishing consciousness, or maintaining-consciousness (ādāna-consciousness). According to the Consciousness-Only school, the eighth and deepest of the eight consciousnesses; ālaya means abode, dwelling, or receptacle, and vijnāna means discernment. Located below the realms of conscious awareness, it is called the storehouse consciousness, because all karma created in the present and previous lifetimes is stored there. It is also called the never-perishing consciousness, because the karmic seeds preserved there continue even after death, and the maintaining-consciousness, because it maintains the life and body of a sentient being. The ālaya-consciousness is regarded as that which undergoes the cycle of birth and death, and determines the nature of individual existence. All the actions and experiences of life that occur through the first seven consciousnesses, such as sight, hearing, touch, and mind, are accumulated as karma in this ālaya-consciousness, which in turn exerts an influence on the workings of these seven"
