I just bought the G40 over the weekend. Was a little unsure about it because I've never shot a 10mm, or any pistol of that caliber before. All I have to say is that I absolutely love it! Put 100 rounds through it over the course of about an hour 15. Would have kept shooting, but was starting to get low on ammo and we were ready to get out of there. It's a very smooth shooting hand cannon

I couldn’t decide, so I bought the 20, 29 and 40! I carry all three with no problems concealing!

I appendix carry the glock 40 for the looks

Good presentation! I have both and wouldn't part with either. They just fill different niches. The 20 is all purpose: range, hiking, home defense, car gun, etc. The 40 is a dedicated precision target gun/hunting gun. The 40 is really more for shooting scenarios where you can really take your time and focus intently on the sights. They're both winners!

In my neck of the woods, the 20s sit around a bit, but the 40s, whenever they come up at our local dealer, gets sold in the blink of an eye........no sitting around for the 40. They call it the Glockzilla.

Great review! I just picked up a new G20 yesterday. My wife and I are heading up to Glacier National Park in Montana and I wanted something for bear defense besides bear spray. At first I was thinking I would just pack my Remington 870 Tactical pump with 00 buckshot and slugs but I don’t want to carry a heavy shotgun the whole trip so hopefully the new G20 will alleviate that. I’ll carry the G20 and my wife can carry the bear spray, maybe my Gen 5 Glock 17 as well.

I bought the glock 40 because really the only downside is concealablity. Concealability doesn't matter to me in a gun like these

Great vid! Just a note though: Gen 4 guns have the RTF4 texture, and not the RTF2. That texture was more aggressive, and only came on a limited number of Gen 3 G19/23 and 17/22's (the ones with the crescent moon shaped rear slide serrations).

The G-20 is for the bad guy behind the refigerator. The G-40 is for the bad guy hiding behind the refrigerator in the neighbor's house across the street. lmao! I love my G-20 however I can only effectively conceal carry this firearm at the 6 o'clock position due to the size. Dara Holsters makes an impressive IWB rig for this application.

I have the glock 20 gen4 & glock 20 sf & I love them both...gonna get a 29 & just may get the 40...I love 10mm.

Having a hard time deciding between these two... I own a 19, 21 and 48, so I really don't need it for conceal. Think I'm leaning towards the 40.

I carry my Glock 40 MOS with a Trijicon RMR at apendix carry all the time. Fits nicely. I'm a trim 180 lbs and 6' tall. I use a MIC holster. Which is a clip that goes over the trigger guard. Ive also done a caliber conversion to 9x25 Dillon.

I have the best of both worlds, a Glock 20 and an extended 6in Glock factory barrel for it, $160. This effectively converts a Glock 20 into a 40, but much better balanced. You could also get a Glock 40 slide assembly for the Glock 20 frame.

I have a 21 gen 4 with a 10mm oem barrel and extractor so I can go back and forth between 45 ACP & 10

I went with the glock 40 just because we have a lot of bears here on Kodiak island and needed all the power I could get. It has the same ballistics as a 357 and the holds clips holds 15 + 1, also I got a 30 rounds clip just in case but I would have the glock 10mm over 44 that only has 6 shots.. it’s all about well placing your shots and I love how fast and accurate I can shoot my glock 40 and able to reload quick as well. G40 lighter ? As per Glock stats, the G40 is 35.45 oz and the G20 is 30.69 oz........40 being roughly 5 oz heavier than the 20. This makes sense, because the 40 has a longer barrel.

I handled a G20 today and compared it to my carry G19 and there is no god damn way your going to conceal carry that.

Longer barreled G40 is more than a quarter pound heavier than G20. It's 4.77 oz heavier without magazine. So I think you were wrong about the weight. G40 is 32.28 oz without magazine and G20 is 27.51 oz without magazine. Thanks.

I've carried the g20 for yrs when "boondockin" style camping (using generator for power supply) up in N Mn . Blk bear, coyote and wolf territories . Only used once to pop off a warning shot at whatever was sniffing around the popup at night . Carry it fully covered in a dropleg holster with inside button release . I customized a safari land dropleg with water resistant material and 2-3x'd stitching .

I own a G40 and reload for it. I still use Iron sights on mine. 7.6 gr of Power Pistol can give me 10050 fps for a 180 bullet. Sweet shooting load.

Been looking to buy a model 20 10mm for over one year. When I ask the gun stores to get me one they just laugh .

the difference is availability I've seen a dozen g20s in my local area in the last 4 years, but I've only seen one g40. at the time I couldn't afford it :'(

Making a Glock 40 pcc in either a Flux Defense or Recover tactical brace. Perfect for off-body carry in a bag or sling. I normally carry a LCP Max for conceal carry.

these guns remind me of my G34. Was my first glock and appendix carried it, tried to conceal but it printed so bad 😂 looks to be about in between the size of the 20 and 40

The weight is wrong on the 40 MOS. It's a mistake printed on the Glock website.My manual states that the weight is over 35 ozs , there is also a video ( I forget by who ) , that shows a guy weighing both of them & the 40 MOS is indeed over 35 ozs & heavier than the 20 by around 5 ozs. These are all unloaded weights with empty magazine installed.

Putting an aftermarket barrel and muzzle brake on the,G40 takes alot of the recoil out of this gun but if they are not high power loads they don't cycle the slide well with it on.

I have both + I can put the KKM 10 mm barrel I purchased into my G41 which shoots great with this barrel.

Gen four or newer are better than the old ones. I had a Gen one or two G20 and part of the plastic on the inside broke on me from the recoil. The inner/outer slide spring works much better, and recoils better than the old style. Guess that's why Glock changed the spring on all their guns now.

just a heads up I the frames are not co.pletely the same. the 20 slide will fit and function on the 40 frame but not vise versa due to the larger dust cover on the 40 slide. It hits on the 20 frame frame due to it now being releived for it. same with say a 17 and 34 same situation.

G40 for asteroids protection quite handy these days.

You got the weights wrong on the glock 40, its 35.45 oz, unloaded, vs the glock 20 at 30.69 oz unloaded.

Carry a G20 on daily base, i still waiting desperatly for a 10mm Glock sized between the G29 and the G20. I would call it G49.

Get the +2 Pearce grip extensions for 17+1 or the Kriss mag extension for the .45acp for a total of 30 some rounds if you don't think 15+1 isn't going to work.

I go gen3 on 10mm because it is easier to use varying spring weight to tune it for super hot loads without openning the breech too early.

Um Gen 4s do not have RTF2. Some Gen 3s had RTF2. The rough texture on the Gen 4s is very different than RTF2.

I was going to go with the model 40 prior to seeing this video, but think the model 20 will work better for me, as i won't be using it for hunting wildlife. Good review.

You can rock with the 20, in pocket, but you have to have some jeans on and a pretty sturdy belt.

ladies just get the 460 rowland conversion kit, you can shoot. 45 ACP, 45+P, 45 Super, 450 S.M.C and 460 Rowland. Nuff said.

I would really like to be able to conceal it, rather than have to change guns for hiking in the woods vs. going to town, etc. But I don't want to sacrifice too much in the way of bear stopping power, either. That's all good and dandy but you can buy the lone wolf barrel for the glock 20 and fix that problem that is why I have the 20 .

I have one of the Model 40. I ordered it before they were in production, it has a very low SN.

I wanted to make sure mine would go through the refrigerator across the street and hit point so I added a 9.5 barrel to it. It hits the mark :-) with a zest.

Have you corno tested both with hot ammo? Bet there isn’t much more than 85 fps difference. Great video

My preferred option is a G20 with an aftermarket 6 inch barrel. The extra weight is good for handling recoil, and the ballistics are identical to the G40 with it's 6 inch barrel. I am a big man (5' 11" and 205 lbs). I laughed when he said the G20 was an inside the waistband carry gun. You have to be kidding. Maybe a G29 is concealable, but not the butt of the G20. The largest gun I carried concealed is a G26 in the winter. Summer in Houston is too hot for even the G26.

Does anyone know if holster availability is less prominent for the 40 vs the 20?

Hoping you would have tried the g40 slide and barrel on the g20 frame. Trying to figure out if the longer g40 slide and barrel length will work on my g20 gen 4 gun. Looking for a gen 40 mos gun in Ca, only can do w a new slide and barrel if they are compatible. G40 not on the Ca roster of allowed firearms.
