Today, my English teacher sang this song with a guitar to us in class, and it made me cry. I was in an awful situation in my other class, I was bullied every single day and it came to a point where I didn't really feel like I needed to live longer, as I was not important to anyone. But I've recently gone to another class and everyone is very nice. All the people in this class sang the loudest they could, without caring about whether you sing nice or bad. Seeing everyone united singing to this and me being a part of it, finally being important to something, made me very happy.

"Reach" was one of two official songs of the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta in 1996. It was written by Gloria Estefan and Diane Warren. The lyrics is about overcoming troubled times and coming back stronger than ever. "Reach" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the ceremony in 1997 but lost out to Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" also written by Diane Warren. SONG HISTORY: "It's about starting over and getting up and moving, so yeah, I can identify very strongly with it. We really wanted the song to be something that everyone could identify with. It was done as a folk song and then, because of the grandness of the Olympics, we threw on the big drums. But it is a song for every culture." -Gloria Estefan talking about the song

This song capped a period that culminated in personal triumph for the singer, having survived, and recovered from serious back injuries sustained in a bus accident in 1990. It's a great Olympic song, but her own very human victory gives her a real edge here; it's not just an ideal she sings about - she lived it.

In 1996, I was on my way to my first year in college 1500 miles away from home, two days of driving. I was doubting my decision to go so far away and contemplating turning around when this song came on the radio. It was as if God Himself was speaking to me through this song, and it gave me the strength to keep going. I ended up doing fine, lovong my college experience and graduating with my Professional degree in my major. Keep fighting, Y’all. It's well worth it!!

I was in my early 20's when this song came out. I wasn't allowed to play any sports due to having a strict dad but knew I could compete at a high level as I felt I was pretty athletic and fast. I work at a financial institution and one of the senior managers was the captain of the track team and asked me to join the team and participate in the 100 and 200 meter dash. This song was so inspiring it pushed me to train hard and at the end I ended coming home with 2 gold medals and a silver medal. On the drive home from the track meet this song came on the radio and I started crying. Even after 25 years it brings me tears of joy.

Timeless classic!!! She should just do a full-orchestral concert coz many of her songs are exquisite and I bet it must be an epic with seas of fan wanna flock by👌 This tune is so upliftling - her vocal projection is so stealth. This particular mtv is incredibly sophisticated as well. Gloria Estefan her own class... it so gentle at the early part of the song and the dynamic got full circle throughout and magical, making it a '90s gem (and she has many of it already!). Kudos to the production team involved - I really love her elegance, poise and it compliment the musical ensemble of the tune

A message for the future generation... *Don't let this song dies*
Some dreams live on in time forever Those dreams, you want with all your heart And I'll do whatever it takes Follow through with the promise I made Put it all on the line What I hoped for at last would be mine If I could reach, higher Just for one moment touch the sky From that one moment in my life I'm gonna be stronger Know that I've tried my very best I'd put my spirit to the test If I could reach Some days are meant to be remembered Those days we rise above the stars So I'll go the distance this time Seeing more the higher I climb That the more I believe All the more that this dream will be mine If I could reach, higher Just for one moment touch the sky From that one moment in my life I'm gonna be stronger Know that I've tried my very best I'd put my spirit to the test If I could reach If I could reach, higher Just for one moment touch the sky That one moment in my life I'm gonna be (be stronger) so much stronger yes I am I'd put my spirit to the test If I could reach higher If I could, If I could If I could reach Reach, I'd reach, I'd reach I'd reach' I'd reach so much higher (Be stronger, know that I've tried my best)

So it looks like I have reached and gone the very last mile in my life with everything that I've been through again including the fact that I've paid off my newly revamped house in full. God Bless you, Brother George, and all the best to you in life. May you CONTINUE TO thrive and be successful. If I may, I’d like to share a little of me with/ you: In a nutshell, I’m a 27-yr old male, trapped in the body of a 54-yr young💚💛💙. In addition… -I’m a veteran, having served my country in the USMC (1987-2002; I was an O-3/Capt. by the time of my honorable medical discharge); -I was married once (1996-1999); divorced, because my wife wanted children AND for me to remain in the Corps (the former, especially, because I was not prepared emotionally to grant her…💔☹️💔; -Not long after our [friendly, mutual, uncontested] divorce, through a friend of my aunt’s from work and church, I met and became attached to, these three kids (a boy and girl-twins (6 yrs old, b. 1993)-from Ukraine 💛🇺🇦💙; and a boy, 4 yrs old, b. 1995, from Poland ❤️🇵🇱🤍). Apparently, my aunt’s friend’s brother and wife back in New England, we’re in the adoption process, but tragically, they were killed in a car crash…💔😢💔!!! Oddly enough, they were in transition, from Germany to Boston, MA, and didn’t know about the accident until they landed @ Logan Int’l.!!! I saw a picture of the kids, and something just…clicked inside me, like God MEANT for me to be a Dad to these kids 🧒🏻 👧🏻 👦🏻. My ex-wife and her new fiance (coincidentally, a fellow Marine officer and good friend), were supportive in my efforts to adopt…provided I agreed to be godfather to THEIR children, when they had them. Seeing as my mother and aunt (twins themselves!!!) and I shared a large house in an upper-middle neighborhood, they were enthusiastic about helping out with/ raising them…😊. Today, all three are all grown up and doing EXTREMELY well in life!!! -After working for the Dept of Defense (1997-2006), Disneyland (1997-2002, for a little extra $$$), and the Longshoremen (2003-2016), I retired in 2016, w/ a nice pension; -In 2022, I married my second wife, after a 2-yr delay due to COVID-19. We became friends in 2005 (when she was still married to her first husband: 2004-2013. Coincidentally, HE divorced HER because she didn’t want to have kids, and because she was scared to, following an abortion from an unplanned pregnancy back in HS!!!). She moved in w/ my kids and I in 2014, we started dating in 2015, and-with a little nudge from my kids-I proposed to her in 2019…💚💛💙. My ex- and her husband even attended our wedding; -My ex- and I still remain good friends to this day, having never really stopped loving each other. She and her husband had a son and two daughters (twins as well). Keeping my promise, I became their godfather, and my ex- and her husband became godparents to mine as well; Since 2005, my kids and I have lived up in the Pacific Northwest (where I also my loving 🥰 wife and “mom” to my kids)… My mother and aunt are retired as well, living happily in Central AZ… In 2019, I learned I was adopted. My real mother was the older sister of my mother and aunt. In addition to the 5 younger siblings I grew up with/ (who still, respectfully, address me as “Big Bro 😎”, and my nephews and nieces who still also respectfully call me “Uncle Euggy”💚💛💙), I also have an older sister as well as two younger half-brothers and two younger half-sisters💚💛💙. So, my Dear Brother George, let us remember THIS song 🎶, and what it represents: Citius (Faster)… Altius (Higher)… Fortius (Stronger)… In short, you might lose some things REACHing for your dream(s), but if you don’t give up, and persevere, you WILL grab that special something worth FAR MORE than a gold, silver, or bronze 🥇🥈🥉… As we used to say @ my old alma mater: FIGHT ON… FIGHT HARD… &…as Judas Priest would put it… ROCK HARD and RIDE FREE… 🫶🏻🙌👍🏻✊🏻✌️🤘🏻💪🏻🙏💚💛💙

I woke up in the middle of the night to come and listen to this song. Was a teen when it came out for the Olympics almost 25 years ago. Such a vibrant and moving song.
