Originally aired March 11, 1965 ever glamorous and glorious Gloria Swanson (about age 67) guest stars as an old flame of William Demarest (!!!!) , a former vaudeville partner whom she tempts into returning to the stage. Don't miss Gloria giving the Norma Desmond regeneration treatment to old Bill as she gets him ready for his closeup! What a shame this was a season or two before the series went to color episodes. Stars Fred MacMurray.

Wow, Gloria Swanson looked amazing. I was born gen X, so really didn't see many of her films or get to appreciate her as an actor. I will definitely look for her films after watching this.

This is one of my favorite old classics!! I really enjoyed the ones they started off with. William Frawley as Bub!! Steve, Mike, Robbie and Chip. Now when Ernie becomes part of the family. Did you know that in real life that Chip and Ernie are brothers in real life.

yes and Barry Livingston wrote an autobiography called "The Importance of Being Ernie" I want to read it. He told how he followed his brother from show to show. Stanley (Chip) had been on Ozzie and Harriet" then after he left, Barry (Ernie) took the spot of the neighbor kid, then after Stanley was on My 3 Sons, Barry came on as Ernie -- leaving him in the prime spot to take the spot of son after Tim Considine left.

A truly emotionally moving comedic/dramatic episode of "My Three Sons"-originally aired in March of 1965-on ABC. William Frawley-who had played "Bub" O'Casey on the series starting on September 29'th, 1960-left the show on the January 7'th, 1965 episode-due to failing health. In the story-and on the aforementioned episode-Bub said goodbye to the Douglas family and flew to Ireland-his ancestral homeland.

Gloria could easily pass for 47 = 20 years younger than her actual age.

I remember reading one time, when Gloria Swanson guested on an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies, she told the entire cast in between takes that sugar was poison to their bodies. Gloria was very health conscious.

Most cereals were high in sugar and have gotten even worse since. These days a bowl of some cereals is no better than giving them a candy bar for breakfast. Then the teacher has to deal with the hyper kids.

Currently, I'm watching "Sunset Boulevard" on Prime Video (with my only reference to this movie being a Carol Burnett skit), and I've recently listened to numerous Audible selections about movie stars from the 20's through 50's, but surprisingly, I've found no audiobooks on Gloria Swanson. So, of course, I KZfaq'd her... and this came up. I loved watching My Three Sons! Thank you for posting!

It is not at all a "shame". All the best episodes and movies were in black and white.

I totally agree with you all the best movies were in black and white, and most of the M3S eps too, but my point is Gloria Swanson was so stunning at 64 or however old she was at the time it would have been a real treat to see her in this glamorous role in color. There's not all that much color footage of her before 1965.

@@terrihooks5443 The Hillbillies episode is in color, very happy about that. A couple of people have it on youtube I believe. It was my first exposure to La Swanson as a preschooler and made her famous to me long before I ever heard of Kate or Bette.

@@manypearls7193 I'm guessing you mean that most of the best MTS eps were B+W, not that most of the TOTAL episodes were B+W, as less than 50% were without color.
