In this acrylic pouring experiment, I use glue and water as my pouring medium, recipe below. I use a large canvas and 11 colors to make this acrylic pour painting using the flip cup technique. I tried this earlier in the week and Julie Cutts gave me some pointers on how I could improve my results. I implement all the suggestions she provided in this attempt. This glue recipe for paint pouring is great for budget fluid art.
CHECK OUT MICHELLE STRINGER's AMAZING VIDEO on FLOCCULATION in ACRYLIC POURING!! • Video
*** 10k give away details coming soon!! For now, LEAVE A COMMENT and get your first entries into the contest!! It is gonna be awesome! ***
Pouring Medium Recipe:
70% Elmer's Glue All
30% water
I mixed paint and pouring medium in different ratios, depending on the consistency of the paint. For thinner paint, such as Master's Touch, I used a 1 to 1 ratio of paint to PM. For the Pebeo Studio Acrylics paints, it was more of a 1 to 1.25 ratio of paint to PM.
Colors Used in the Acrylic Pour Flip Cups: Iridescent Green Blue, Ocean Green (Masters Touch), Terra Rosa, rose gold (decoart), Ivory, Iridescent Gold, Venice Red, portrait pink (liquitex basics), Prussian Blue, Vermillian, Venice Yellow
(Unless noted, paints were by Pebeo Studio Acrylics)

@@JennyPost Its funny when I first saw her videos I felt that she "stole" your technique for your pours..(the way you did the flip cups in the canvas. ) You had a specific way....no one else was doing that and there were only a handful of pouring channels... .that was when you took a leave from YT. I felt as though I was defending you! lol In the year you were gone hundreds of channels sprung up. If you woudl have stayed you would have surpassed all the others that watched people like you! BC of the interest in pouring.

Did it give you a ton more air bubbles? I think it migth be good for starting off, when you are learning the consistency and basics of pouring. Thinking about using it when I teach beginner's workshops so I can keep costs low for students... Gonna try a few variations on the recipe in coming video :-)

I am amazed by all your paintings. Most of your paintings already look like Julie cutts. And this painting was fabulous. I tried using her medium recipe and seriously didn't even come close. But I noticed in the instructions in your video that you put four drops of silicone in an 8 oz paint cup. I put three drops in about 4 oz. I got so many cells. And it looks nothing like Julie cutts sells. I'm thankful that you put those instructions in there because now I'm willing to try it again with a whole lot less silicone. Sometimes it's hard to tell how big her cups are and she said three drops. But they must have been big cups. Wow oh, maybe I might be able to come a little closer now that I know this. Thanks for sharing and I am so sorry about that bug Trail. I would have been heartbroken. I've had that happen many times but not to a painting as gorgeous as yours.

Hey Sherri! You should definitely try it again!! Another thing is to go very light on the torching. I way over torched the first time, and Julie says she thinks torching is key :-) It is surprising that less is more when it comes to silicone, but that is definitely true!! I really appreciate you visiting my channel! Your pours are amazing

@@JennyPost I thought I had to torch a lot because she does for the longest time. So I will try that and less silicone next time. Oh and when my paintings dried they had little pin holes in them. I'm thinking because I didn't torch it enough to get rid of the bubbles. But with this glue all mixture I'm not real sure at all what I'm doing. Thank you Jenny
@JennyPost

@@sherrislife2046 My painting had a lot of pin holes too. I think it is because I mixed and then poured immediately, did not let it sit over night. So many air bubbles it was crazy!! I had a friend (Jenn Neil) who suggested that I strain the paint through a strainer after it is mixed. It pops the air bubbles!! I thought that was a great idea.

@JennyPost 5 жыл бұрын
Well, if you look at Michelle stringers video, which is linked in the video description, you might guess that too much pouring medium is the cause of the granulation. However, I am just not sure. Julie cutts reports that she gets granulation using white and transparent colors together, and I've heard recently that too much water might be the cause of granulation. Something went wrong though. Thank you for watching!
