We got our first chance to check out the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV and came away pretty impressed. If this EV doesn't sell, then there's some bigger problems with EVs in the marketplace.

Looks like a nice car overall. I drive a Hyundai Ioniq5 between Indianapolis and Chicago fairly often and I really have no problem making the entire trip, at least if it’s not subzero temperatures out. I do wish they would pick up on Hyundai’s much more flexible regen settings. Plus, they’re easy to change on the fly with the paddles on the steering wheel. No need to wade in the menus. I don’t think the Google only system would be that hard to adapt to. And Super Cruise would be a huge plus. Definitely would keep one of these on my future shopping list.

My Bolt euv Lt has been flawless: zero problems (the N2.2 and N2.2a LG batteries are the fixed ones). I save a bunch of money charging at home, and after buying the Bolt I sold five gas and diesel vehicles, as I didn't want to drive them anymore. I hope GM makes a Colorado/Canyon sized ev pickup.

I was prepared to hate it, but the price was lower than I anticipated and the range isn't terrible, so I can't really criticize it. I don't think my wife will be trading her SUV for one but it's remarkably competitive to some crossovers she's had in the past.

No frunk because the motor is in the front instead of in the back for rear wheel drive like the Tesla Model 3 which is the preferred location for a singe motor EV. Not sure why GM put it in the front.

They were able to re-use the front drive unit from the LYRIQ/ZDX AWD in this. It’s the smaller of the 2 Permanent Magnet “Ultium” motors. Keeps the engineering cost way down using a drive unit that was already in production. I’m sure they could have made the larger rear drive unit fit (the larger Ultium PM motor) from the Blazer EV RWD/LYRIQ RWD/ZDX RWD but it wouldn’t be this cheap.

I think you were spot on with your assessment. This it what EVs should be. Range is slightly lacking if you take long trips but at least you can slap a quick 75 additional miles on it. Short of taking the family across country, that probably covers most use cases. On a different note, don't think we've forgotten you owe us a golf outing and jog.🤔

I own a GM BEV. I take road trips without any issues. The mapping app works and is spot on. Bio-breaks match the DC fast charging stops and 10-to 15 mins is normal for us while road tripping. The EPA estimate is underrated in my vehicle my numbers run a fair amount more on the mileage. Nightly charging works like a charm. This is a home run as far as family run about everyday driver..

@@cs1992 6 minutes faster is small enough to not matter at all. Most people take longer than that to go in to use the restroom. Plus, with fueling, you must wait until you are done fueling before going in for the restroom or food. You could combine a stop at a restaurant with charging and you could have plenty of miles added for free while you dine.

On one pedal driving, on deceleration, isn’t the accelerator pedal analog, meaning you can control deceleration time on how quickly or slowly you let off the pedal? Also, in sports mode, it doesn’t make the car go faster, it maps the accelerator pedal travel quicker to respond.

Research has shown that majority of American ev adoption happens when 3 metrics are simultaneously reached: over 300 miles of range, 30 minutes or less charging, and a price under $36k. This is the first one to hit all 3 at the same time. And with a bunch of great features, good looks, and as a crossover no less. This thing should be revolutionary. Word needs to get out about them and GM needs to make enough of them.

I think that matters when it's a button on a screen that you need to look at to know you are hitting the right thing. A "hidden" physical switch you can feel and move without looking at it. It's leaps and bounds better than some of the more popular attemps at an affordable EV. $30k is the sweet spot. Their infotainment interface is one of the better ones. Light years better than Ford's ancient looking Sync 4. Toyota's latest infotainment UI feels like something straight out of a 2010 Android tablet. Honda's has the feel of something Garmin would have thrown together in 2008. Hyundai/Kia seem to have defaulted to an old version of Android for their infotainment system. Wow, you are seriously warped in your thinking. Do you really think we have enough oil to continue driving ice vehicles forever. You have to start somewhere to transition to a more sustainable form of transportation. Even if you’re a global warming denier, which I would guess you probably are, you still have to be smart enough to realize that there’s not an infinite supply of oil. Plus, if you ever owned an EV, you probably wouldn’t think gasoline cars are so great anymore. Every time I get in an ice car now it feels like I’m driving a crude piece of junk compared to my EV. As for ecological disaster, my car uses the equivalent energy of a car getting about 120 miles per gallon. Could you tell me what kind what of gasoline car I can buy that is this efficient? The answer would be there isn’t one. Not even close.
