The timestamp 15:19 will take you to routing the cable in the derailleur itself and then setting it up for a ride

One other tip: after cutting the cable to length, lightly file each end down to ensure it's even around the diameter and then use a pick or a filed-off piece of old spoke to ensure the entry and exit holes are fully open/round in profile.

I use heat shrink (the one with adhesive inside) instead of those nasty cable caps. Crimping freys the cable. If the cable cap comes off the cable end if going to frey. With the heat shrink with adhesive the cable stays in tact and the heat shrink doesn't ever come off on its own.

Picked up a gear cable set from ChainReaction, everything for £13 including some beauty little sleeves to prevent frame rub. followed this and was done in less than 10 minutes. Didn't realise replacing the whole cable was so easy.

Thank you thank you thank you. I just got my bike back after a service and the rear shifting was awful even with adjusting the barrel adjuster. Rather than try and arrange to take it back to the shop which is 15 miles away I watched your video. Turns out the cable hadn't been pulled through at the derailleur properly so a wee adjustment and the gears seem to be fine now.

Unfortunately one of the most difficult things is missing: How to replace the outer with internal routing.
@giorgoszamanis6654
@giorgoszamanis6654 2 жыл бұрын
Hope you've already found some relevant video.. If not, just find a way to connect the old and new cable, like electrical tape, and push in the new and pull the old one out of the internal routing, until the new one emerges from the frame. You should also use 20-30 cm of inner wire to make the connection stronger, but it's tricky to find the correct way..
@FlyingFun.
@FlyingFun. 2 жыл бұрын
Trick is to leave the inner cable routed in still and then use that as a guide, once the outer has been fitted you change the inner as usual.

After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working kzfaq.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.

I didn't think I'll replace cable with hydraulics. Hydraulics is expensive and messy, unless you want to keep changing when cable is better. With cable you don't to measure how much to fill the right amount and cleaning up afterwards. I rather stick to cables,than hydraulics.

When you replace an inner cable do you have to replace the outer cable as well ?
@gmbntech
@gmbntech 5 жыл бұрын
Good question! If you can feel friction when you're pulling the old cable out or see rust or corrosion anywhere, then yes. There also shouldn't be any sharp bends in the outer that cause more friction.

Hi Doddy. I work in Bike Shop as a mechanic and I always have this debate with my colleague : Should the outer cable be straight when it goes to the derailleur , or should it be longer and have a hook shape ? I always cut it fit, my colleague always leave a "hook". The debate is for 1x systems and hardtails (XC bikes to be precise ) . So can you please give me your thoughts on this. Thanks in Advance . (Sorry for my bad English hope you understand :D )

Hello there,,just wanna ask,I am using xt rear derailleur, 10s with 11-42 cassete,but I want to upgrade to 11-46 cassete, is it fine to just install my 11-46 ??or do I need to change my derailleur set up,or my chain??please help,thanks.
@kerrermanisNL
@kerrermanisNL 3 жыл бұрын
Should be fine, the distance between each gear should be the same so the derailleur won't complain. However you probably also want to replace your chain since a used one is formed/slackened to the cassette it was used with. Re-using the chain might increase wear on your cassette

@philkism
@philkism 5 жыл бұрын
Silicon spray works great in my opinion. It's more like a dry lube and although it doesn't seem super popular I use it on almost everything other then chains. It attracts way less dust
@GrimYak
@GrimYak 5 жыл бұрын
Id say so yes, its the #1 lube i use for my stanchions on the fork and shock, i also use it to lube the inside of outer cables. It is also great for the linkages in the derailleur to keep them moving smoothly.

Hey Doddy, can you give me a hand? Began setting up Di2 and during Bluetooth initial setup, firmware update bricked my XTR display. Won’t turn on. It’s a light brick. Shimano’s been an awesome company to me before so if it’s a matter of contacting them that’s cool, but if I don’t have to I’d love to take care of it at home. Peace and thanks
@gmbntech
@gmbntech 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcus, most bike shops should have the know-how and gear to be able to sort out your Di2 issues. They can connect into your system, reset the parts if necessary and fix any issues. We'd suggest giving that a try.

Just plug it via USB to your computer (don't use the Bluetooth). Launch the Shimano software on your computer and it should reset it all. If not I've also read that you may need to unplug and then reconnect each detailer to reset them.

HELP! Doddy what cable cutters are you using there, I’ve bought two pairs of pretty expensive guillotine cutters now and my out housing has just chewed them up without even being cut, frayed broken ends and split up plastic casing. Losing my mind
@gmbntech
@gmbntech 4 жыл бұрын
Hi George, anything with a metal inner housing (cable brake outer) should be cut with a pair of sidecutters. For gear outer and cables Doddy is using the Park Tool CN-10 cutter which has been sharp for about 3 years so far! Again hydraulic lines should also be cut with the specific tool for the job!
