I've never had to pull an axle like that before to do a brake job Bill. You made it look fairly easy.

Oh yeah I remember doing that job before those two nuts came off easy for you. I had to buy a $60 dollar socket to get mine off . Happy holidays

Thanks for sharing your expertise. I recently changed my shoes, drums and some of the springs and had it way less tight than you showed. This was on my 97 suburban c1500. I drove 15 miles to work and one side was smoking a lot. Ever seen the adjusters tighten up to the point that you have to pry the drum off? I have no idea what I did wrong but there was a lot of smoke. I took off the drums and couldn't see anything wrong other than the one side being tight.

Any chance you may have switched the star adjusters' side to side?

I did one side at a time so they should be correct. I pulled it apart and have been watching a bunch of videos. I did have the long shoes in the right place. I think the smoke may have been the shipping protestant I only cleaned the surface that touches the shoes. I loosened them up a bit ad will see how it goes. Thanks. I look forward to watch more of your videos. @@Ruststored

I have never sanded or put any grease on the surfaces where the shoes ride... seems so obvious when you did it...i ll be doing that from now on
