GMC Sierra is built on the Ultium platform, the same as the new Chevrolet Blazer. The Blazer and the Cadillac Lyric are both having problems related to the Ultium platform. Look at the reported problems being reported on GM vehicles.

The problem with this is that GM/ Ford's truck's traditional customers tend to be old fashioned folks who don't care for high tech gadgets such as large touchscreen, complicated software menus, and GM and Ford are bad at software anyways, so instead of using their strengths, they are strenuating their weaknesses trying to compete with Tesla in vain because their customers rather have traditional physical controls, and simple user interface without having to deal with software delays and crashes. They would have made an EV truck with lower cost if they just kept all the controls physical like Toyota does, and will sell more.

As a relatively old guy, I approve of this message. I have a 2018 Bolt and very much appreciate having the physical controls available. It has a decent sized screen but not ridiculously large, and is well built. Basically just the radio and climate system is on the touch screen. I’ve tried a Tesla and it’s definitely nice, but I really do find the physical controls more comfortable and easy to use without having to look away from the road. Funny enough, I have yet to experience a problem with the software in my car, and i think the first generation Bolts have fewer software issues, although to be fair they’re pretty basic functions. GM needs to create an entirely separate division just for EVs similar to what IBM did to make the PC.

Tesla’s screen is to save costs. There’s a lack of buttons because everything is on the screen. It’s a minimalist design.

@@finned958 I absolutely understand that it is to save costs, but personally I’d prefer the physical controls, even if it costs more money. For me it’s a safety concern, and knowing exactly where the controls are and not having to look away from the road is important. I guess if I had self driving it wouldn’t be nearly as much of a concern, but my Bolt doesn’t have that.

@@Tschacki_Quacki not sure, I have only driven a neighbor’s Tesla once for about 2 minutes on a clear dry day, so maybe my concerns are not as valid as I am anticipating, but for people who’ve been driving for 40 years with physical controls it can be hard to change habits. I’m planning a vacation in the new year and will probably rent a Tesla to get a good feel for the car and technology in it, maybe I’ll change my mind. Millions of other drivers don’t have an issue with the computerized controls so obviously it works for them.

For me so far, this is the best EV truck feature/looks wise. However the deal breakers are. Ultium platform with no Apple Car Play (will not consider any vehicle with out it). The Lightning and cybertruck pricing are insane but the price of this Denali makes those trucks seem cheap. Considering Ford will be releasing there new ev truck around the same time as this and Ford is promising cheaper pricing. GM is not going to sell very many of these unless they can get the price down to around half.

The Blazer EV has so many recalls and problems there is no way I would buy a GM vehicle right now. They even stopped sales it was so bad. Very surprising too…

I wonder if people (buyers) think about how LONG it will take to charge a 200kwh battery, even on a fast charger? Even on 50 amps at home, a full charge is probably over 18 hours! Consider an AWD (dual motor) Cybertruck with the extended range pack (50kwh) at $96,000. 470 miles of range on 173Kwh... for $10,000 less. No mid-gate though, that was disappointing...

I want the AT4 trim! How do you not know that it will have an air suspension? Real world testing shows the hummer getting stated range on the highway and I bet Sierra will be similar. Cybertruck will not hit that 340 range at highway speeds I bet

This just proves that the Cybertruck is a superior design aerodynamically which is one of the first principles of EV design. Once the Cybertruck production is ramped up, the EV truck segment will never be the same as the old fashioned brick blocky trucks.

People that need a truck dont care about aerodynamics. They care about being able to do what they need to do with the truck. Also those old fashioned brick blocky trucks have years of accessories that can just be dropped in the bed. The problem with these comment sections is the people commenting usually arent actually truck people. They have opinions on stuff without even understanding the buyer of trucks. A lot of the comments are "I've never owned a truck but..." If you are buying a truck because it looks cool and not because you need a truck you are most likely a douchebag.

Per GM website, the truck will come with some kind of adaptive air suspension. Doesn't give any indication if it has the ability to increase ground clearance for off-road uses.

It’s the same suspension in the hummer and and half of the Escalade they can raise about 4”

Thank you for your replys as a advanced automotive engineer I and doing a study on new technology and it's reliability and part of my finding is that north America has the highest recall rate of about 19 recalls , Australia and New Zealand have about 5 recalls , And the same model vehicle has a different recall in different countries but made in the same factory It will be interesting how all these recalls are handled by diffrent countries road safety organizations And bring balance back in to transport systems .

The biggest stunt by GM and LG is the hyping of the Ultium platform. Just a regular junky drivetrain from GM and LG.

The pick-up truck don't have an engine anymore. Why don't they build the pick-up truck with a cabin forward, allowing to have a much more longer truck bed platform ? Similar to this much more useful style. 👉🚚👈 😃💖⚡️🛻⚡️💖🔋🌞💯👌 😉💖⚡️🌎✌️

A huge battery takes longer to charge. And adds weight. They just aren't catching on to the idea that EV's are fundamentally different from ICE technology. Electric vehicles need to be LIGHT and AERODYNAMIC. Of course, that should probably be true of ICE vehicles too, but since liquid fuel carries a lot more energy than batteries, its less crucial.

I saw them both at an American trade show, and the GMC Sienna Denali looked way better than the Silverado WT. The Silverado interior looked like it was taken right out of a 1980s plastic GM parts bin. However, neither model was as well-built looking as the Rivian.

The question is who will pay who on these. If they have a reasonable chance of making profit at the numbers they actually sell then they matter. Hopefully release date will coincide with NACS launch for GM. For the guy who does not care for the Tesla one screen design this with drivers side display and heads up may be the ticket.

Not sure why this looks great. It looks like every other pickup and every other gas pickup has for the last 50 years. As far as this so called software, it is GM. Do you have any idea what has been going on with the ev blazer. A software which is an operational nightmare. Nevermind software nowhere even close to the oldest tesla model S. Plus you are going to buy a vehicle in 2024 before it even has the nacs plug and hardware and be stuck for years with an already outdated vehicle with CCS on it after almost every oem goes to nacs in 2025. You got to be kidding! Nobody with half a brain should not buy any legacy ev until they get nacs in it which means probably nothing until 2025. Rest in peace traditional oems, Ford/gm etc.

The Silverado/Sierra and F Series trucks are also the most crashed for every 1,000 on the road and have the highest number of fatalities so not too sure if selling the highest numbers of the most deadly vehicles on the road is something to brag about. They sure blew increasing range through better efficiency didn't they. I think the Big Auto "Dinosaurs" should really pay attention to how much truck Telo is offering in a package the size of a Mini. See: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mr6BpNhprNDPoqs.html Still not as good as the 5.1 Miles per kWh you got from the original Nissan Leaf but moving toward more efficient design instead of following the bigger battery to compensate for inefficiency that most others seem to be going with. If GM would give up fifty thousand dollars worth of luxury garbage, they would have a serious work truck most people could afford. They need to concentrate on build quality and reliability. Of course that wouldn't make any money for the investors.

GM is making a huge mistake. I understand that trucks sell the most in the US, however, if they would actually bring to market the Cadillac/GMC Suburban that I saw a few months ago, they would sell thousands of them. The Cadillac SUV ICE version sells for over $100k. Limo companies would buy them for the luxury and lower maintenance costs. Large families that drive luxury suburbans would also buy them. And, there’s no other product like it. The Rivian is much smaller.

I guess you haven’t been watching any U.S. car channels. The auto market is crashing. Dealers are drowning in overpriced vehicles that no one wants to buy. Legacy auto isn’t even producing the affordable cars people want. This monstrosity will be a failure just like the lightning.
