Don't Forget TO SUBSCRIBE it Free!! The sevice light came on again with a little rough idle and I found that the ECM was giving a trouble code of PO013 which is the Exhaust Cam solenoid circuit open. Also tested with an ohm meter to prove that the solenoid was bad and replaced it.

You're the real MVP. Followed your instructions. Nailed it first try. Sprayed the area with brake cleaner then hit it with the air compressor. Made everything easy to see and kept the debris away. I also used OEM AC DELCO replacements. Once again thank you!

Thanks a bunch my GMC terrain runs so much better ( It would stall when I would turn left into traffic I thought it would get me killed someday ) highly recommend moving the whole exhaust cam solenoid before you try to pop the cap It is so much easier working from the bottom the cap

Resolved the problem immediately ... Check engine light cleared as soon as I started the engine after replacement of part. I had about 96k miles my my 2012 and engine runs as smooth as the day i bought it. I recently replaced spark plugs, recommended maintenance, engine oil and filter and ran some injector cleaner. Engine runs like new .. smooth. The Terrain is a great vehicle. With out this video I would have had to take it to the dealer... that would have been at least a couple hundred bucks. Thank you! I have never replaced anything other than a windshield wiper before. I changed out the part on my 2914 equinox and after two runs around the neighborhood the check engine light finally went off. Thank you so much!!

The white or gray part of the connector is removable, you just have to lift it and then remove it and this is how you can access the tab that releases the connector.

Great tutorial. One added piece that helped me get the engine light to stay off, I disconnected the battery for 30 seconds and it reset all the codes.

We own a 2012 GMC Terrain with this little engine. What I have discovered is that it is good to just plan on changing both cam solenoids every spring when you change the air filter. I guess it's just that with the location of these solenoids, they can't handle the heat maybe. Issue is that these solenoids are so vital to the health of the top end of the engine lubrication that you can't afford for one (intake side especially) to stick in the wrong position when you need to pull out in traffic and the car stalls. I had one fail on this car and was late night 100 miles from home and car would stall when I put it in gear. Since they are very easy to replace and so vital to sufficient lubrication of the cams and all, may as well just plan to replace both every year.

Lack of oil changes causes oil sludge to build up in cam valve actuators. This causes fault codes p0011 p0010 p0013 to set. When you had the valve cover off in your other videos I can tell that the oil wasn't changed very often. This is the number one cause of timing chain noise and cam fault codes. I'm a ASE Master Tech. Good luck on your future endeavors.
