Oh wow, I wasn't expecting you to play this, but I'm very glad you did! Also I'm so glad it wasn't too glitchy haha, I couldn't get enough free time to do any VR testing whoops. I'll probably try and fix that weird button bug too, I must have missed a cooldown setting for activating it like a dungus. If anyone is wondering about the music, I added a link to the workshop description that takes you to a playlist of all the tracks in the map! As for the commentary, you're basically spot on. I really like trying to take pictures of things that I don't think many people pay attention to or even notice. Random buildings that are torn down the week after I take a shot, weird little back rooms that I see during my job as an upholsterer, maybe a picnic bench where you know some guys eat their lunch at. The way I shoot film also lends itself to that vibe you were describing too, I push my film which basically involves underexposing the film and then overdeveloping to compensate. It results in punchier shadows and heavier contrast as well as higher saturation and more prominent grain. That and shooting expired film, which tends to give you some really wonky results as the color layers in the film decay at different rates. Anyways, onto the map itself! So yeah, that concrete maze is a sort of backrooms analog. I just wanted to play around with the sort of weird geometric concrete designs that source seems to lend itself to so well, plus to really mess around with logic and most of all to try and get teleports as seamless as possible. There's actually one thing that isn't telegraphed well at all, but if you go back through that door near the bench that leads to the dark teleportation hallway, every time you walk through it selects a random destination from a list of three. That way if you double back on yourself you end up teleported to a completely different area instead. That's how you get to the weird temple that plays the chill music (called fogline I think), as well as the other weird area. That specific spot actually has some really bizarre scripting if you go all the way into the room at the far end of that hallway. That spooky noise and weird teleporting sequence are actually a little prank trigger I've got in the map, if you attempt to open the no entry door it'll activate a randomized timer countdown that can take anywhere between under a minute to like nine minutes or so. Figure people would forget about the door and just randomly get swept away. I think the routine is called void out or something along those lines. I think it may have gone too fast/you may have been turned away from it, but it drops you in the outside are of that staircase before flashing red lights on the statue in there. Then you get banished to the far corner of the parking lot lmao. I've got a new map in the works that deals mostly with the night photography I really like to do, planning on dabbling with some custom modeling and texturing to make the neon signs I love to get shots of! I'll probably post updates on that at some point in the discord like I did this one. Other than that, if you like the music there's about 450 something tracks on my soundcloud, and at least 10% of them can't be that bad right? Oh also, in that little space in between the weird combine button lift and the TV room/carpet hell, stare into the window near the door behind that glass for a little bit. There's still a handful of little secrets that you missed ;)

Definitely light switches. I've had the recurring dream of being in the dark and none of the lights switches work constantly. But I've definitely had dreams where I can eat or drink. The problem is it doesn't work you still find yourself hungry and thirsty no matter how much water you drink still Thirsty because you actually are once you wake up and get a real drink of water. It fixes everything. It's weird because I can taste it. Feel it in my mouth, but then once I swallow. It's like it disappears before reaching my stomach bizarre but I guess that makes sense. It's the same with peeing on the very rare occasion. You can actually get to a bathroom. I know how much you pay you still feel like you have to go

i dunno why but this map is way darker for me. I saw the beginning of your video and wanted to try it myself but it being so dark made it rather unenjoyable. Not just the flashlight glitch but even the map lighting is super dark for me. I appreciate the walkthrough though. :) The entrance to that red maze is in an area that looked like an attic to me. I forget how i got there. There's a opening in the wall through a pair of beams or whatever that you can walk past on one side.
