Ever since joining your channel my level for flight sim just goes up & up. You put across such passion & professional presentation skills that makes me want to invest & gain a good standard of flight simulation. I would seriously consider this set up but am limited by desk space. I have taken the track ir 5 path thanks to you & the way i now approach this hobby is making it just simply so absorbing & therapeutic for me. I said it before & it needs saying again you are such a valuable addition to this hobby, i thank you.

Froog I'm really glad you reviewed this. I have the throttle quadrant and just bought it for Christmas. I have not set it up and after watching your video I'm excited to check it out. My only regret now is that I did not buy the yoke too. I went with Saitek b/c I wanted the extra buttons and switches. I need to rethink that now.

I've replaced the strings on my CH Product Eclipse yoke. The idea came when I saw a video where you could use rubber bands to 'smooth' the movements, but I used heavy duty springs instead of the default ones. On my throttle quadrant I used a metal strip on each lever to make it a bit harder to move the levers. I also did some other modifications to the yoke and quaddrant to make them heavier in terms of weight. The yoke shaft I filled with lead using a lead casting set I borrowed from a friend which uses it to cast bullets for older (musket) fire arms. I also used solid lead strips to add weight. The added weight really does improve the handling of the yoke. FSUIPC with its axis parabolic curves is ideal to give your yoke some 'power steering'. Very subtle movements near the center (ideal for lining up with a runway), but almost an aileron roll when you turn it sideways.. The money I saved on pricier hardware I have used to buy myself a airbus radio module from OpenCockpit which gives me a COM,NAV and ,ADF radios (ideal when flying on vatsim to change frequencies) and I also bought the 737MPC module from OpenCockpits. Maybe in the future after I won the powerball I will buy a more realistic yoke and throttle systems, but if you replace these two controls, shouldn't you also be replacing your rudder controls?

Excellent review Froogle. I saw an ad for these and came to youtube seeking a review. As usual, you've answered my question before I even asked it. Too bad I missed the offer code on it (expired I guess), but goflight is doing a 20% off their whole store from 15-JUN - 21-JUN for father's day. Maybe I'll splurge. Have a great one and thanks again!

Very impressed with review as usual. Looks like a good product though some of the comments do point out some issues but I can see a to/ga button would be very difficult to include, there will alway be some limitation unless you build a true to life home cockpit but that would limit you to one aircraft and I have several favourites. Not sure if I want to afford it or not but going to check out the offers.

Thanks for the review Froogle! I am thinking of upgrading from my Saitek Pro Yoke. What I hate about my Saitek yoke is the center flat dead spot It has in the elevator axis. Does GF Yoke have such an issue?

I have had the throttle quadrant for just over a year and cannot recommend it at all unfortunately. The build quality is not matched by the price. For me: 1. The plastic sleeves the handles sit in are becoming loose from swapping out the handles. They are a total pain to tighten too. 2. I tried to install the 737 handles (paid extra for, BIG mistake) which were awful and kept dropping down to idle under their own weight. Sent back at large cost, came back tightened before becoming loose again. Decided to go back to the original handles. On removing the 737 handles I could see GoFlight had poorly hot glued a lot of the plastic sheaths inside. A real botch job. 3. The handles do wobble and can scrape the case especially as the sheaths loosen. 4. Without the clamp, the velcro is useless at holding down the quadrant. Had to create a custom pedestal solution to screw it onto. 5. The reverse buttons can be activated when applying full throttle which is a bad design and gets old quickly. I know I sound negative but they are charging a lot and I have been extremely disappointed at the quality. The benefit of having had a year's use shows that my Saiteks (6 years old) are more reliable. Unfortunately Froogle won't have the benefit of using them extensively to really test them. Maybe mine is an isolated situation but their forums suggest otherwise.

Coming in 5 years late but I agree. I bought the version that came with the preinstalled 737 handles and after 6 months, one of the handles broke. Even after an RMA the pots have always been noisy, and have grown worse where its barely usable now. Glad I never grabbed the yoke. Price does not justify the sub par quality for sure on GF. I have there switch panels and they have been fine, but thats about it.

I've got the CH yoke and the thing that really bugs me is the roughness of the shaft and how it causes 'stiction' and hence jerky elevator control. Froogle I've think you've answered this question when you said how good you're landings were, but I'd like a bit more detail on the 'feel' of the elevator control was

I tried this yoke at two different flight simulation fares in Europe and I confirm that the feeling to fly with it is really great. I feels like a true airliner yoke, very high end. The only thing, really the only thing which annoys me a little bit is the rather small degree of rotation for banking that this gorgeous yoke offers. If you own a Saitek Pro Flight yoke and you are happy with it, then go for the Go-Flight one because it has the same rotation angle capacity than the Saitek Pro Flight but it feels much much better (beware if you own the Saitek Cessna yoke which has a much wider bank rotation capacity, it may well disturb you because of the big difference). And it has to feel better because it does cost much more too, but once you tried it you'll probably agree that it's really worth it's price. Top notch build quality for this yoke. But that is not what I think of the Go-Pro throttle, I find that it really feels cheap and flimsy. Even if I do believe Go-Pro that it's probably not cheap to build in small quantities, but for me it doesn't even match the Saitek throttle. Maybe it's a matter of taste, but in this case I have a very strong feeling that I don't like this throttle at all.

I have the CH stuff and although it works and I have it set just the way I like it, it is still a cheap plastic toy with some wiring inside. I would pull the trigger in an instant if I didn't have other priorities (i.e TrackIR, more RAM, etc) but this is on my list of upgrades, just not at the top. And I would buy it based on just this review, without even trying it out because of the trust I have in your opinions. Thanks for the great review!

I wonder about that mouse pointer, whether or not ease of use correlates well with mobile phone usage, as that's a thumb-intensive activity (even more so with phones where a keypad or physical keyboard is used to text). If it wasn't $700 I'd say test it on a teenager.

Froogle, another great , informative video, thanks. I am looking at getting a replacement set of yokes/ throttles, when I started flying again after Christmas 15, I bought the Saitek yoke and throttle set. I have since progressed onto bigger more complex aircraft, and would like to have more realistic controls, having just one throttle lever, a mixture lever etc, for a multi engine jet, kinda misses some thing. Its great for light use, but as you get more into it, and serious about it, flying for a Vitrual airline I think the investment into better quality kit is going to be a part of that. but the cost, has to be justified. I think the Saitek kits is good value, but has a life, and I can not currently buy another 3 lever throttle quadrant, to add to the one I already have so I'm considering a better set up. The Go Flight kit might be a good step up. Also cross platform compatibility is important, with both FSX/P3D and X-plane on my system, it needs to be easily configurable. Thanks for the info, and inspiration : )

Hey Froogle. So my question to you is, did you end up buying the GoFlight gear? Personally, I am on the fence about saving up for this. I just (relatively) recently made the switch from a joystick to a yoke and rudder set up (saitek) and I do enjoy them (apart from the yoke being sticky sometimes) but this just looks like it's on a whole other level. I most likely won't be able to use your discount code unfortunately, unless it's a permanent code. But it's something I'm seriously considering.

I am a bit of a saddo who would spend loads of money on sim gear but I'm afraid this does not look worth the money. I would want variable reverse thrust, proper trim switches, some kind of autothrottle disconnection or TO/GA switch and a proper clip on there for that kind of cash. Does it have a PTT trigger on the back like a real 737? If it does that is one thing in its favour. To me this is just a metal Saitek yoke with an enhanced feel. Excellent that you showed it to us though Froogle so thank you.

This is a similar consideration I had in my other simulator hobby - sim racing. Can I justify buying a Fanatec Clubsport wheel system or should I just get a Logitech G27? In the end I went for a Fanatec and I am very happy with it. The Go Flight products look fantastic and they are both on my shopping list. I would be interested in you reviewing some of the other Go Flight modules. Go Flight - Froogle deserves some Christmas gifts!!!

Regarding your comments around 2:10 (hat mini joystick), that looks like it was ripped straight out of a ps3 controller. Anyone who plays consoles will be an expert with that, as that same motion is used in shooter games with the right thumb 100% of the time. However, clicking in on the stick is usually mapped to an auxiliary function, and the fire/mouse click should be a button on the back for this. Or two so you could have both left and right click. You could have the hat center click default be return to center.

Yea. Iris looks really impressive. I am hard pressed to spend this kind of money before someone gives the two a good comparison. I suppose we'll have to wait a bit. iris is still dealing with early production issues. It may be a few months before we get to see in depth reviews of their yoke. But i generally agree. Unless there's something wrong with it, I'd rather pony up more cache and get good control loading. I would imagine that as good as the GoFlight yoke is - it would still leave you with the very unrealistic trim handling that the cheap stuff has. If you cannot feel the forces on the controls you have to stick to the trial and error method of trimming.

+cardiel4 Yes, I used to use a CH Products yoke an had similar issues. They advised me to spray the shaft with Electrical grade Silicone which I did and it resolved the issue. I emailed GoFlight and asked if there were any warranty issues using silicone and they advised there were none but to be careful when applying with an aerosol. With this in mind I sprayed onto a cloth and rubbed it on. I'm not sure whether it was this or a combination of use where the springs have 'worn in' but it now handles well. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Do you prefer This throttle or a Saitek dual throttle quadrant?

I preferred this over the Saitek one but there's a video landing on the channel next week with an even better option.

Hi Frooggle,I am due to take my decision in purchasing this quadrant, but some reviews on the web are very negative regarding the following: - Noisy mechanism - USB devise not always detected by Windows while launching- Inflight disconnection of the quadrant requiring unplugging and re-plugging the device - Device not reliable, only few axis still work after one year usage...These reviews are dated in 2013 and 2014...What is your opinion, honestly? Thanks for arguing and advising...CheersBruno

The throttle levers don't look very sturdy. You can see them moving sideways when you touch them. Edit: you addressed that later on in the video. But still, I wish I had one of those. :)

_'it is a very heavy spring'_? So I assume it still doesn't come with force feedback, does it? Not my cup of tea at all then.

..nice review, but I think that for those that are in the market for expensive gear, I assume they are expecting more on the technology/ mechanism inside the box and of course more in depth compression with it's rival the PFC and the new "Kid" the Force Feedback by Iris, after all spending such $$ wil force to stick to those devices for long long time

Hi Froogle, I thoroughly enjoyed this review and as a result i have bought the starter kit that includes TQ6 and yoke. So I wanted to set up the TQ with levers A&B as throttles, C&D as prop control, E&F as mixture, for flying light singles, twins and both the Caravan and F1 King Air. Now that i tried setting them up yesterday I find that the 2 reverse levers only go on B&D!! What a pain as i want them on A&B. So i wrote GoFlight this morning and quickly received a reply from tech support. I asked that they ship me one configured my way, and i would return the one I have. No dice. I can ship in back and they will do that for $75; or they will send me instructions on how to do it, and void the warranty. I am not a happy camper at this point after investing more that $1k.

After 7 years with Saiteks and a very good experience with GF Modules , I had a high expectation ..... got a set and I already regret. Though it is metal it is flimsy contraction Levers way to long they rubbing & scrapping against the sided and kind of rattling Moving the levers up and down is not smooth you actually feel the springs they do not feel solid and ,definitely, not something close to the RW My conclusion: keep your Saiteks wait for Xmass and get yourself PFC set ....

I will say the same as I said to go flight they are to expensive for the level of realism I love the look of the throttle quad and you can buy the 737 handles to go with it too which is great but the flaps are all wrong and for that priced you might as well use a saitek with bolt on look a like handles and pay an 8th of the cost. The reason I say this is because if you compare it to the go flight MCP and EFIS units which I have I got all 3 for 800 dollars the closest MCP was cp flight and for the MCP alone you are looking at 1000 dollars with less functionality than the go flight or for a complete replica cp flights MCP pro at 1400 dollars I thought the go flight had all the functionality I needed and looked great just not a replica compare that to there TQ and go flight are way of on price and realism

Have no ideal on how to get with you Froogle. Still upset with my Saitek Rhino's on getting them set up. Am very upset with their support. Going on three months with no play and a wife that feels that she has screwed me up with my gaming. And I see that there are others in the same boat.

Guardian 75 If you're the same guy that reached out to me before, once again please drop me a private message. Be aware that I do not ever do technical support but if you are the chap that reached out before I'll certainly listen and see if I have any ideas. You can contact me privately with an email at frooglesim@gmail.com - to anyone else reading this, please DO NOT send me a ton of emails asking for help, tips, advice information - I already get over 200 messages a day on here, the forums, Facebook and twitter and you'll probably just get ignored in order to preserve my sanity.

frooglesim Why not? Everyone at that so great a place and other sites haven't helped me either. Need a video worth watching that starts from beging of hows and what works with what. Not just the two little things for a Black Shark set-up. This type of programming has been their mainstay for some time and has not been addressed buy them since they put it out .And none have helped on any of the other forums so I guess I'm screwed.
