Why Are Premier League Teams Struggling to Play Against Brentford?
Teams that just got promoted to the Premier League are usually top table teams’ favorite places to go. And it is understandable. They don’t have very strong teams and are usually less experienced in the top flight.
But this season, and almost every other Premier League season to be fair, there is one newly-promoted side that plays surprisingly good football and gives big teams a really tough time.
Remember when it was Stoke City about a decade ago? Then Burnley a few years ago. Wolves in 2018. Sheffield United in 2019. Leeds last season… And so far this season, it has been Brentford.
This is Brentford’s first ever season in the English top flight, but they are playing like they have been around the block for years. If there is one word you can use to describe how they play, it is fearless.
An opening fixture in the league coming against a newly-promoted side is usually good news for any top flight club. And perhaps Arsenal thought it was for them until the game actually began. They were outclassed and outplayed.
And with just their first game, Thomas Frank and his energetic Brentford side had already announced themselves to the league they had fought for years to be a part of.
They did not only announce themselves as the new boys, they announced themselves as a team to be very afraid of.
And over the following weeks, they managed to further instill fear in the clubs coming to play them.
