Hi Conor. Could you give some kind of insight on the financial reality of lower division football in lesser known leagues/ countries? and do you think that a route through university/college reduces your chances of playing at a higher level? Is it worth it? And finally, does it matter to you that you're not playing in a very well known league (no disrespect intended, i'm a big fan with a ton of respect) and what do you think seperates you from them?

Can definitely make a video on this at some point! The uni route isnt the main route to pro football in Europe, but it's not impossible to go that way. And it doesn't matter to me, because the most important thing to me is improving my performance. The better I get the higher I will play

The worst feeling that I have ever had during a penalty was when I told myself that the taker was going right and then last moment, as he took the penalty, I went left and the shot went right.

Great tips! It's ok to concede from a spot but it's also really annoying when you get a hand on ball but it still goes in or when you save the pen and they score from a rebound. It would be nice to have a rule that forbids rebounds after penalty kick. Like if you don't score then the opposite team's gonna have a goal kick or something.

Great tips Conor. One thing I’ve seen lots of pros (Yann Sommer) do is try and control the situation as the player runs up. Even a slight body feint to one direction or even just pointing can create indecision for the striker. If you can try and make them second-guess themselves, then you’ve got a good chance of ‘guessing’ right yourself!

Great vid as always Con, some points I hadn't considered before. I usually just go with the, don't move too early and try and read their run up. Also what do you think of the new Kaliaares? Any word from Kenny if they will release the Joe Hart model?

Great tips Con. As always 💪 I love penalty kicks. The ultimate duel. It's easy for me because I'm a big guy (in every direction 😂) so I cover a lot of goal and maybe that's why I have high procentage of penalty saves. My metod is simply- no jumping, no waving. Just standing and watching striker with wide smile on my face. I guess that's the way I get to the strikers head. 👍

My penalty tip, I look at the retina of the taker . .. . He'll probably kick to where he looks first or where he looks last before the kick . .. .

I wait till when his foot is about to make contact with the ball, I'll dive where his retina looks at that marie curie X of time . . .😄😄 Though some clever guys pick their spot right before the run up, and where else they look doesn't matter, but they are very few that do that . . .

The goalkeeper in my team has a sneaky trick and has saved 7 out of the last 7 he has faced. He walks up towards the spot and says who's taking it? He then looks at the fence behind the goal, turns to one of his defenders and says can someone get the other side of the fence to save time getting the ball back? The last 5 penalties have been almost straight at him and low!

I've heard on a few other videos that the penalty taker's planted foot when kicking is always pointing to the way they are shooting

Sorry to bother you, but I have one last question: How do you deal mentally with heavy legs? These heavy legs don't have to come, because you haven't had a good regeneration, more like heavy legs, because of being nervous.

Hello Conor, great video, im amazed that there iare tips in this video that i have never heard before in other more famous videos. But i have a question, what do you say to the taker? like exactly i dont know what could you possibly say. Like "i know you will go bottom left" and stuff so that you will mess wit their decision, or like insults like telling them that they cant score and stuff? thanks!

I can give one tip. If the taker takes first step with his right foot its like 70-80% chance that he will shoot to his right and same thing If he takes first step with his left foot

What do you think of during the games? In between actions and during them. Are you just concentrating on the technique - better said the execution or what else? So what do you think during the game? For me it´s a question I unfortunately can`t answer myself, because I couldn´t play regularly without having injuries. I´m working very much mentally, so I can improve also during this hard time. But I´m pretty struggling finding out that. Thankyou for reading and I would very appreciate it, if you answer.

I'm concentrating on the actions I'm doing, or communicating to help my team. But if I feel myself losing concentration I use self talk phrases like 'Each action 1 at a time' to refocus myself!

Hey Conor O'Keefe, I have a question and I was hoping you could leave a comment. I am doing a Major Design Project to get my High School Certificate. The project will concentrate on designing a product that reduces finger, hand, and/or wrist injuries suffered by amateur goalkeepers, while keeping equivalent levels of performance. I would massively appreciate if you could comment some advice regarding the factors you think I need to consider when building this type of product, as well as what Improvements you would want to see in existing finger, hand, and wrist protection products?

I think the one common complaint I hear about gloves with finger save is that it makes the gloves feel too bulky, and that it restricts the mobility of the fingers. The balance between protection & mobility is obviously therefore difficult. Different types of tape are helpful though!!

Connor I’ve got a very difficult decision and I would like some help so there is two clubs one has asked me to come saying I would play every game in the b league tho The second club I’m at currently I’ve been in the b or c team for the past 3 seasons but I feel like there is a high chance I get into the a team they are also a local team but I haven’t been in the a team for them yet also they would probably be in a league and I’m stuck with who I choose

Playing games is the most important thing! It's up to you, weigh up each option, look at the positives & negatives, and consider which one excites you the most!

Went to penalties in a tournament final today. Saved 4/9 taken. My teammate comes up to seal the game and win and makes it, but the referee hadnt blown the whistle. So he goes to take it again and hits the bar and misses. Absolutely gutted but what can you do

Couple of extras: - Maintaining eye contact as they place the ball. Penalty takers often look where they kick first followed by attempts to throw you off. - Utilising your size on your goal-line. The bigger you present yourself the less space they feel like they have, forcing a shot to be focused on precision, increasing a likelihood of messing up. --> Also means a higher likelihood of a shot played with finesse (pen taker's right side if right footed or left side if left footed) - When diving, take an extra step starting with the opposite direction to your dive just before they make contact with the ball. For kick takers that slow their process to view the way keepers dive mid run-up, this deceives them into playing your game. Overall the name of the game in pens is taking advantage of how you can make them go where YOU want. The more you can understand the type of pen takers you face and how they're likely to play it the better chance you have.

@@ConorOKeefe I wasn't very specific about what I mean. I'm 15 and I play in an academy in my town. But unfortunately there are 10 or 15 teams in the league so I know very well where the stricker shoots. However I wait to see where the ball goes but I am ready to go where I know he shoots. Again you are great in your job as a goalkeeper and as a KZfaqr. I wish you luck in everything you do in the future
