From humble beginnings at Rouken Gken then on to The Campsies, it's been onward and upwards ever since. Brilliant video, Peter.

First walked up Goat Fell as a kid in 1970. It seemed dead easy at the time. Tried it again a few years ago and we got tantalisingly close to the summit but just couldn't seem to get round those massive boulders. Couldn't have been more than 30 or 40 feet away but eventually turned round as the light was fading fast. Views from up there are gorgeous. Arran is a very special place. As always, your video was magic!

My favourite way to do this hill is to get the bus to drop me at the foot of the path just before Corrie, head up towards North Goat Fell, along below the ridge to Goat Fell, and then down the "tourist path" back to Brodick. That way you make it a linear walk instead of out-and-back, and you get to stop at the Wineport pub before walking along the beach to the ferry. One of my favourite days out.

Great VID I can run from brodick to top of Goat Fell and back to brodick in 1hr 46mins, you don't see that much that way but it feels really good once you stop

Now thats impressive! I have seen many fell runners up in the highlands and they are super fit and i take my hat off to them. But as you say, No time to hang about and admire the views which is the reason i do it in the first place. Thanks for the comment Lisa, Happy running :) peter.

@@MUNROSnCORBETTS No my running is by, I shouldn't have said 'I can' instead it should be 'I once did'; unfortunately I shattered my pelvis climbing the 'Whispering Grooves' route on the Buachaille Etive Mor ; belay point came adrift when I fell. A nippy one but at least I can still walk, I'll attempt a low level walk this summer to see if I still can..Have a good summer hill walking

@@lisazack6459 Jeezo Lisa!! Sorry to hear that. I can only imagine how that day must have been. Hope you can get back to a certain level of pain free fitness to at least still get to the summits. All the very best and stay safe out there. peter.

Love the video. Was up there last week in similar weather but from Sannox, via cioche na m'oighe could be wrong there. . Would'recommend it if you have head for heights and don't mind a little scrambling. Loved the bit about your dad. I'm 61 and other than the fact that my body disagrees don't feel older than my 40s. Inspired by this I'll think post the video of my day

I havent watched this in ages, I had to scroll through to find out my "Dad" comment LOL! Thank you for taking time out to watch and comment Ian, I have met and been passed by many times by various hillwaking clubs around Scotland and i must admit many are OAP's. Who i must admit are about a million times more energetic than me, So that is a wee inspiration for me. i would like to see your vid Ian and i will keep an eye out if you do post it. Thanks once again, peter.

Why are there so many boulders on the fel?
@MUNROSnCORBETTS
@MUNROSnCORBETTS 10 жыл бұрын
Hi jessie, im not really sure to be honest. I think the boulders are granite, and i would assume that they look bare because of wind and rain erosion maybe? I have noticed similar rock formations on other summits, especialy on cac carn beag(lochnagar), peter.
