Great video mate and great to see you back out again. I’ve never been to Arran. Funnily enough I was watching a TV show the other day about it and thought it needs to be on my list of places to visit. Looks absolutely stunning and you certainly got lucky with the weather for this time of year. Looking forward to the next one 👍😊

Hi Rob. It’s certainly a beautiful place and probably one I’d have overlooked in favour of Loch Lomond or the Cairngorms etc. It was recommended as a good introduction to the Scottish mountains and certainly didn’t disappoint. A lot tougher than you’d expect too with everything starting at sea level. Thanks for watching pal

Looked a really good walk with some magical views. Years ago I wanted to visit and climb Goat Fell but I have never made it to Arran and the thoughts off ascending had long since been forgotten. Now I am retired and my fitness may not be quite sufficient. I keep telling people to do everything while you can. I should listen to myself. Nice video.

We booked that weather especially for you Anthony! Your pronunciations are spot on! It's a lovely wee island and some of the lesser known hills are fantastic especially Cir Mhor. Hope you managed a wee dram of Arran whisky while you were there! Great to see you out again especially in Bonnie Scotland! Cheers Paul

Thanks Paul. Having watched your videos, I had to pay a visit to bonnie Scotland myself. I’m very grateful to the Scottish weather gods for blessing me with amazing weather as those views at the top were fantastic. Even though its only a wee mountain in comparison to other parts of Scotland it was certainly a good test too with a nice bit of scrambling over Stacach. I did see Cir Mhor and it looked fab, but didn’t get chance to walk that one. I did walk Beinn Nuis and. Beinn Tarsuinn which I enjoyed even more than Goatfell. I’ll hopefully get a video up from that next week once I’ve edited it. Can’t wait to return, but probably Loch Lomond next before I attempt the mighty Cairngorms at some point 👍

@@AnthonyJohnson1 Hi Anthony, thank you asking. I had a lot of plans for this year, two weeks in Scotland, a few weeks in wales, one week in Yorkshire, a local 37 mile trail and the second half of the Coast to Coast. However, I don’t want to go into loads of details, but the last 12 months have been terrible, so it’s all gone wrong. I have also picked up a bad foot injury when hiking in wales, so now really struggling. I have planned the second half of the coast to Coast at the end of may, so trying to focus on getting my injury sorted for that. Have been practicing night lapses with the GoPro. I’m dying to get out with the camera again, hopefully soon. I hope your keeping well. Take care, Tony

Lovely video, Anthony. Although Goat Fell gets the lions share of the attention there are plenty of other really dramatic walks on Arran. Good point you made about starting at sea level. Goat Fell is actually a harder climb than many a Munro. People forget that if you are climbing say, Buchaille Etive Mhor, then starting from Rannoch Moor you are already about a thousand feet above sea level. Arran has some beautiful ridge walking. Enjoy.
@AnthonyJohnson1
@AnthonyJohnson1 2 жыл бұрын
It surprised me how tough the ascent was. 4 miles of gradual ascent on mountainous terrain certainly tests the fitness. We also walked a 14 mile route to Beinn Nuis and Beinn Tarsuinn and found that a very tough day. I still need to edit the video from that one, so will post it next week. Thanks very much for watching 👍

Hi Chris. It’s a great island that’s for sure. We also walked Beinn Nuis and Beinn Tarsuinn and they were even more spectacular. I need to plan another Scottish adventure soon, although outside of the biting insect season 😆. I was wearing my Altra Olympus 4’s. I’d highly recommend them as they are max cushioned so really comfortable with the wide toe box too. They seem very durable as they’ve covered about 300 miles so far with no signs of wear. The grip is fantastic too
