🐐 Welcome to our first Summer Grazing Update! 🌱
In today's video, we're excited to share releasing our goats into fresh summer grazing fields. We’ve been prepping the pasture with a mix of brown top millet, pearl millet, and iron and clay cowpeas to ensure the goats have a high-quality and nutrient-dense diet. Come along to see their first bites and learn why we're big advocates of rotational grazing.
🌾 What's Inside This Video:
Letting our goats into the summer grazing fields for the first time
A look at how the brown top millet compares to pearl millet
Insight into what plants the goats prefer and why
Benefits of rotational grazing for the health of our goats and the quality of our pasture
🌿 Why We Do This:
Rotational grazing is essential for sustaining high-quality pasture and providing essential nutrients and proteins to our herd. This practice also helps in soil conservation and promotes healthy, sustainable farming.
👨‍🌾 Our Experiences:
We've tried different types of millet this year, and it’s been a bit of a learning curve. Stick around to hear our reflections on what we'd do differently next year.
📅 Stay Tuned:
This is just the first of our Summer Grazing Updates. We will be documenting our journey, so make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so you don’t miss out on any of our future updates.

This is definitely a different approach to goat farming; actually planting crops specifically for the goats and having rain shelters. Usually people don't spend much time or effort to their goats and let them eat what's available.

That is very true. I tend to have less health issues and can sell them at a little better price compared to locals here. Thanks for watching!
