Some people have quested their entire lives attempting to collect the Power 9. Its one of the greatest achievements and represent the origins and nostalgia of the soul of the game. This man... nay... this fucking legend goes to sleep at night knowing he has over 40 sets of Power tucked away in his binder. And that's on top of all the graded stuff and the world's largest position on old school sealed booster boxes or Bazaars. The God book is mind blowing Rudy. I see your love and passion. I really miss seeing these videos of the OG cards in Rudy's stash. I find it really calming to just put on and chill out and see some great pieces of art and in gaming history. It's like watching a museum tour but with MTG cards.

Rudy, It hurts to see the "million dollar binder" full of power with no sleeves.. I know they are ones that aren't worth grading but it's like putting 10 million scoville unit hotsauce on a $1 floppy taco, it's going to burn coming out.

I had a very long conversation yesterday almost the same Rudy is saying, I sat down to purchase a decent sized collection from a person and I told him what he has is more than I was prepared for but I opened strong made decent offers and we agreed to it, I told them that this is going to be a deal that takes weeks to work through and as I can imagine making offers most of it is going to my personal collection and I don’t mind paying up for it, but also there’s things I want to take and sell, which I am fair with those offers as well but as I told them, there’s a chance he sells everything today and tomorrow it’s worth Penny’s last time I was buying duals I was paying less than 130 mid, but yea I am stoked that I was able to meet up with them and get things rolling.

Rudy basically bought most of those at 500$ in 2003, but still buying them at 10000$ in 2024 like a proper DCA. It’s a great teaching how buying and holding is the most important thing. If you’re in this for money, get into real estate. There is no reason to “invest” in such a volatile type of investment when guaranteed ones exist. You are absolutely right, you have to enjoy it. The “reason” vintage magic has value is because a very small amount of people enjoy it and are willing to spend a lot of money on it.

I really wish more mtg collectors could think about collectors items like you. Purchases so be made to appreciate with you eyes, not appreciate in value. If more people thought this, then maybe abduals and other cards playable outside vintage and legacy would escape the reserve list. High-end EDH has truly become brutally expensive.

I can remember going into a card shop around '94 or '95 and seeing a Black Lotus in the case for $80! At the time, I thought it was crazy to spend that much for a card.

As a player since 2011, I've traded into many rl and old cards. I like them, I double sleve them and play them in decks. I love the game, and don't care if cards remain flat or even make a loss, because I sell non rl pieces into spikes and use that money for old or rl pieces, so it doesn't matter.

I would put those cards in a no ring binder, I have had a couple of cards get dented by the metal rings

Personally i collect modern up to 2014 before the border change. The full color border mid era cards are easily the best looking, the most balanced, and stil very accessible. You can collect, for example, 8th edition foils Iike birds of paradise

Can’t ring binders damage cards? I have some older ring binders from the 90s I keep meaning to change them out but I’m too lazy. Plus they are marvel cards so they aren’t worth anything. 😂
