Thank you brother for these wonderful explanations of the faith. The body of Christ has struggled greatly for so very long with acceptance of God’s unconditional love. This struggle has effected our collective testimony to the world outside of Christian religious organizations and also within them. God loving all of us and redeeming all of us is the answer.

Peter Hiett's approach to the Bible is exemplary.

My favorite Pastor!! I was SO THRILLED when I came across Peter in the DownSide Up videos (a few years back now). I had to hunt to find out who he was, but it didn't take me long. It was, and still is, rare to find someone who sees and understands so much of the scripture in the same way I do. A rare jewel, indeed!! As to the topic here, I couldn't agree more!! We grow up being taught that God creatED man in his own image and likeness from the very beginning, but we fail to see the connection between the creation account in Genesis (which ENDS with man(kind) created in the image of God) and Jesus' words in the NT when he said "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work," indicating that the Father's work (done through Christ, who IS "the image of God," and the one into whose image we are being conformed, through the work that Christ performs "in" us) was not yet "finished." We are not "finished" until "the child" (of God) becomes "the son" (of God)... the one in whom THE "Son of God" can be seen. Come, Lord Jesus! \o/

I love his reading of genesis. this may be the first time that the serpent's offer has made sense to me. Why would it be a bad thing for us to be like God, to know good and bad? I never understood it. But it is the unwillingness to trust God that he will give us his spirit, reveal to us what we need to know that is sin is this story. What a wonderful way to make sense of it! Hallelujah!

When a person lets go of the tension, one loses the message.

Most modern western Christians are prime examples of exegetical extrapolation without encounter. Peter, on the other hand, I can confidently say has allowed his encounter to extrapolate his exegesis.
