Thank you for making this beautiful video about my pastor. I've attended his church online for four years and he's all the things you say. I also loved the video about Richard Rohr, because I'm tired of watching videos by Christians - both conservative and progressive-wing -about other Christians, making monsters out of pastors, theologians or apologists they disagree with. The above video is the way to go.

Hey brother, I have all of his books and loved all of them but I would say start with “Water To Wine” to get familiar with him as person and if you want to jump straight into his theology “Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God” would be a good start for that. As for the church I have no idea brother you just have to do some digging. I am fortunate enough to live in Denver where Peter Hiett preaches at the Sanctuary which took me some time to figure out myself despite loving his work

Question: How can you possibly take faith seriously? How can anyone in their right mind ask others to believe in the existence of a Deity who makes Mormons so Christians will know how Jews feel, having had their literature hijacked. Nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital & indoctrinating children is criminal. The faith vocabulary causes the user to be avoided like the old woman with too many cats. Faith "comes not with peace, but sword." Faith comes with wolves dressed as sheep & preaching to the choir. Faith trades the last cow for a pocketful of magic beans & then expects everyone's appreciation. Jesus said, it is a wicked generations which seeks signs such as resurrection. Faith is as worthless as fantasyland magic, since you can't tell mountains to move. The only sign in reality is Jonah: A believer murdered by other believers because he is outnumbered. The context is Jesus seeing a gathering crowd.

My brother please be aware that our God is not only love, but our God is also a consuming fire, God has warned us about that. The finish work on the cross by opening salvation gates, Jesus rose from the dead and he appeared to Paul. Act 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. Act 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Act 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Phl 3:18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as ENEMIES of the cross of Christ. Phl 3:19Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.Jhn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.Jhn 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.Jhn 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.Jhn 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. 1Th 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.1Th 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 1Pe 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 1Pe 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 1Pe 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

In the embrace of the Divine, love knows no bounds. God's love is a universal force that transcends borders, religions, and creeds. It is a love that seeks to unite, to heal, and to redeem. In the Christian tradition, Jesus Christ is the embodiment of this love. He came to save humanity from the depths of darkness and separation, to reconcile us to the Divine and to each other. His message of love and forgiveness is a beacon of hope in a world torn apart by division and strife. Yet, this message of love is not exclusive to Christianity. It is a thread that runs through the fabric of all religions, a common theme that binds us together in our quest for meaning and connection. In Islam, the Quran speaks of Allah's mercy and compassion; in Judaism, the Torah teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves; in Hinduism, the Bhagavad Gita reveals the divine love that pervades all existence. Let us celebrate this unity of spirit, this universal love that transcends our differences. Let us recognize that we are all children of the same Divine Source, connected in our humanity and our quest for the Divine. May we come together in love and understanding, may we find peace in the embrace of the Divine, and may we celebrate the unity that makes us one. ❤️💚❤️

"Not just Calvin, but the Catholics, with Jansen," uhh... Jansen was condemned for his Calvinism and his book Augustinus that took the Augustinian predestinationist line you are describing. You'd think that'd get some points for Catholics from you. In fact, the whole Reformation could be seen as the Catholic Church tossing off the hyper-Augustinians, since Martin Luther was an Augustinian monk who wrote "Bondage of the Will" and Erasmus the Catholic countered with "Freedom of the Will," and since Calvin considered himself not teaching a new thing called Calvinism but a traditional Augustinian.

Does anybody have any thoughts about this story from Mark 5?? It bothers me quite a bit and I have never heard any good consistent thoughts about it. I mean, this is incredibly violent and not very "wolf will live with the lamb" like. I have really been struggling with it a lot. It seems to me true compassion and love would spread across all of creation, every single little part of it, even to these nonhumans. The bit I am wrestling with: 11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number (!!!), rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. Honestly, this doesn't sound compassionate or just at all to me. What did the pigs do? It is not like all those pigs were rocks. They were living sentient beings with an ability to feel pain and suffer and Jesus knew this. I mean, does God not care about nonhuman animals? If not, is this really compassionate, especially since these beings were created to have the ability to feel pain? I doubt anybody would call me compassionate if they witnessed me personally drowning thousands of pigs (or puppies, can you imagine!). It would be seen as cruel, as it should be! If the good news does not include ALL of creation, if it is just good news for humans, I don't know that it can actually be called good news, not in the fullest sense, not in a holistic sort of way. I am well aware of this idea that all of creation is being restored, but then there are things like this. It doesn't fit with "Thy Kingdom come". Thoughts?

It is heartbreaking the western church has, despite their good intentions, done more harm than good. A relationship based on fear of eternal torture is not love and it's not the abba I know. The scriptures point more to how lost we truly are and how the father son and holy spirit submit to us and our choices, we are invites to co create and participate in creation. If we truly know abbas heart and we love others as ourselves we see that we have the power to create and we see that most prayers can be answered by face to face relationships and loving others ad ourselves.

The Old Testament doesn't talk about Hell. It talks about Sheol. The New Testament talks about Hell. A lot. And it is mainly Jesus doing the talking. As far as i know the "weeping and gnashing of teeth" was an idiom for coming to see the errors of your ways. Not for unending cries of torture. What good is revenge to God? Is he that petty that he is delighted by seeign those who rejected him in a cosmic torture chamber? Is that his justice? Revenge? Are his love and his justice at odds? Does he want to love but justice forces him to punish? Or does he have a higher view of justice, one that involves transformation and revival of relationship? When the tax collectors repay the people they exploited, is that not a greater justice than if they were punished? When Saul joins the people he persecuted, is that a suspension of justice for the sake of love, or is it actually love and justice in one? Is justice just punishment? Or actly justly, a changing of ways, repentance?

Unfortunately this video downplays the importance of how sin is so dangerous to God and his children. I'll make this real simple to understand. An eternal Holy God can never mix with sin just like oil and water can't mix. One day, you will either exist with God in a sinless eternal heavenly existence or you will be in place that is eternally absent of God and all his awesome attributes: light, warmth, cool, friends, family, etc. This absence was originally for lucifer and his fallen angels. Human souls were never meant to go there. There we see all the attributes that are opposite: lack of light, hot, fire, hatred, anger, destruction, chaos, pain. Today is the day of salvation. Choose Jesus! He will wipe you soul clean so you may cross back over to heaven to live with your Holy Father!

I am NOT saying whether there is or is not eternal punishment in Hell, but here is WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS: Revelation 14:9-11 says, "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath...and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have NO REST, day or night." If they were annihilated out of existence, then the statement "no rest day or night" makes no sense. Revelation 20:10 says, "And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be TORMENTED day and night FOREVER and ever. . .Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if ANYONE"S name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." By the way, the word torment is translated from the Greek word Basanismos, and it means to torture. It absolutely does NOT mean to annihilate and put out of existence. Luke 16:22-24 “The time came when the beggar died, and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.” Notice the rich man is NOT annihilated but rather in torment in flames. He can feel pain, he can see, he can have a rational conversation. How does this in any metaphorical sense point to annihilation?

Any thoughts out there about the Legion story where Jesus let demons enter a herd of pigs (around 2000 of them!!!) and they ALL drown? This does not seem very "God is love" like to me, and something I have been struggling with quite a bit. I mean, what did the pigs do to deserve this, or do you think the point has something to do with the fact large numbers of Roman soldiers were called "legion" in Jesus' day and this didn't literally happen? I mean, it seems to me if Jesus is love, would he not also love these sentient beings, human or not? Also, it is an incredibly violent story. It is not like the pigs were a bunch of rocks sitting there. They were, all 2000ish of them(!), sentient beings. From the story in Mark 5... 11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

Scriptural illiteracy or intentional disinformation are the only explanations for ignoring Christ regarding the adults who mislead children. I his book on salvation Hart simply ignores Jesus. Easy enough to make it up yourself! DBH is another Rick Rubin sand witch- and his complete flip flopping on gnostics is dubious. I’m glad he’s assisting the Orthodox’s ret-conning of Bulgakov into their fake history to reappropriate “Sophiology”. Hart has disparaged the Gnostic texts in many interviews - claiming “there’s nothing there.” Ten years later he’s publishing “Gnostic fiction” with a straight face while the EO rewrites the last century of theological vacuity. In the description of his Gnostic novel for Amazon DBH actually has the audacity to compare himself to Umberto Ecco, PKD, and even Nabokov. He claims to know better than Jesus regarding Tartarus - and he’s also expounding on the miracle of eternity - as if a human mind can come close to comprehending eternity. Then he puts his name on the cover of the New Testament, and in the footnotes notes confirms Jesus is ‘Lucifer’. To do he relies on an erroneous Latin translation from Jerome of Isaiah and a quote from Peter- the disciple Jesus called Satan and who church destroyed the Valentinians texts and followers. What a small dicked insecure joke of a pseudo intellectual huckster. Gotta love the middle name. They all have middle names- these infinite jesters. The question of a father saving his child from their descent after jumping off a building is missing a significantly more important detail. If we're to look at that as an example of God saving us from the consequence of sin, many will just defer to the free will argument. What God is doing through Christ is saving us from what ails us. So in the analogy, the father wouldn't simply be saving their child from falling to their death, but he'd be healing what brought them to that point...if a human father had that power. Fortunately God does have that power, and it is through Christ that God is indeed saving the world from sin(cause) and death(effect).
