I remember this from 1992 when God, in His purpose and mercy, directed it to me after our only son, Samuel, took his life 3 weeks after his 19th birthday. It turned me again to the God and SAVIOUR who redeemed me in 1971 when I was 21. Studying the Scriptures over the years has brought me to a place of confidence and trust in this "GOD OF MERCY AND GRACE!" If people would only seek the Lord He will make Himself known.....He came to save the lost, not the religious who trust in themselves and religion. Bless His Holy Name!

And, on January 14 this year, my Sweet wife of almost 52 years, passed into our Saviours' presence after her battle with cancer..... she was the love of my life, married May 29, 1971.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Phil 4:4,6-7) Oh my brother, Don't be discouraged, I'm young, only 20 years old, but my hope must be the same as yours, even if much older in age. My hope is the Lord Jesus and the coming of Christ at any moment, please, Look at Him always.

As someone who has had loads of trials back in 2023, listening to this song again has brought me down to tears. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! And to all who are going through trials at the moment. Always pray to the Lord that you may be reminded of his unconditional love, his graciousness, and his generous mercy.

God lead me to this video just now after reading about the hymn writer in the devotional Our Daily Bread. What a blessing! The life transformation of William Cowper and John Newton is absolutely awesome! I also found this beautiful song yesterday after reading my daily devotion from Our Daily Bread and learning of William Cowper's struggles with depression. God Moves in a Mysterious Way....the words lifted me up and blessed my heart and soul.Thank the Lord for inspiring William Cowper and John Newton!!!

With all the storms and trials we, as Believers, go through, most of them turn out so much better than we hoped for or imagined. (Though we worry needlessly.) The only ones that don't are the ones where we turned away from God, & even those lead us back to Him, if we have eyes to see. God is the originator & propagator of Happy Endings. God is truly amazing. After 55 years of knowing Him, He's proved Himself time & time again as FAITHFUL & TRUE. His ways and thoughts are truly miles & miles higher than ours. Never give up. He's better than even we think! ❤

I found this video as I was contemplating how God works in mysterious ways after a severe heart attack that could have ended my life. Since then I have been able to share this hymn with scores of people. It is undoubtably one of His “bright designs” working out! People are greatly impressed by this hymn.

Reading a book called Bible readings for the home...first printed 1915, they wrote about Cowper and then wrote out this wonderful hymn! Thank you. I am blessed by this this evening. 🙏

This brings to mind Isaiah 55:8-9, of God's ways and thoughts....A true believer can find solace and confidence in the conviction that, even in the face of life's uncertainties and challenges, God's divine plan operates in ways that are frequently inscrutable to us but are constantly directed by His flawless wisdom and love. Praising God for your gifts and rendering of this beautiful hymn which can really provoke deep thoughts and contemplation.

Since writing this I discovered I was wrong about pronouncing the last name of Mr William Cowper. His last name is definitely pronounced C”oo”per. Not “Cow”per. I stand corrected & I apologize. It is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. A truly amazing poem with truly amazing singers - Original post •••It sounds like your pronouncing William Cowper as William Co”o”per. Cooper.
