Hot take: Every God of War game pre-ascension is a 9. They're awesome action games, captured my imagination growing up, and really helped me through my teens. Ascension is a 7, its fine but clearly rushed, not the same impact. 2018 and Ragnarok are my favorite games period. 10/10 what this franchise means to me, what its become as I became a man is so influential and important to who I am today. Perfect. Also the combat in the norse games is so sick I don't care if its different from what I grew up with. Draupnir spear is the GOAT

These games weren't just superficial experiences; It had powerful stories and innovative gameplay that set new standards in the gaming industry. Overall, giving an excellent review of the new installments without respecting the long history and improvements the series has gone through shows a lack of deep understanding of the series as a whole. It's very easy to praise shiny new things, but it's hard to acknowledge the efforts and challenges developers faced in previous titles that served as the cornerstones of the current titles.

if we're talking about story, the new games are far better. As for gameplay I say they're pretty even. It's all a matter of taste since they play so much differently. One was a button masher and the other is all about combos and parries.

Why people are giving gow 1 so low ranks, that gave was a masterpiece for his era and the reason why we see other gow titles. Kratos was perfectly ruthless and was a killing machine. Even normal enemies are tough to killer in very hard mode.. graphics was outstanding as well for that era.

@@kendavis6826and that my friend is perfectly okay. I started with 2018 on my 18th birthday (born in 2002 so I was late to playing it on release). And I loved it, I knew nothing of the first games, so I was actually quite surprised to see the blades of chaos for the first time. I fuckin love those blades (their lore made me like them but hate their nature) then I played ragnarok and enjoyed that one too, the story is alright but can be stomached. Then I picked up GOW3, it’s jarring and not really for me. But I decided to just sit down and watch the other games, I’d say they’re pretty good, but we all have our preferences. TLDR, I respect your opinion.
