This happened in God of war II too . Perseus wanted to fight so he can revive his dead family , when he attacked kratos and then kratos killed him . Kratos reunited Perseus with his family lol.

Kratos putting Midas on his shoulder may have been the most stupidious thing he has ever done.

Don't pretend Kratos killing Midas was Kratos being merciful. Kratos saw a route forward and took it.

The worst part is since it's implied that he can't die, he's still trapped in the gold.

In case you didn't figure it out, in most of the GoW installments Kratos was less of a hero than he simply was the protagonist.

Honestly midas' powers from a combat perspective are INSANE. He can kill any god, or titan, with one punch, even kratos! Hes just gotta land it, and considering hes a mortal man, being underestimated is a given.

Kratos didn't care about king midas, he just used him so he can walk through or pass through the lava. For those who say that he only killed midas just because he want to end his misery. Kratos is kinda selfish.

I never understood why he had a hard time moving forward with a human body on his shoulders, when literally fighting colossal-sized creatures and gods. Before becoming a god, he already had enormous strength.

It's kind of a shame Kratos didn't cut off Midas' hand and use it as an improvised weapon to turn enemies to gold... I mean that would be in character for Kratos in the classic series.

I kind love the fact that Kratos knows the Midas story, Midas isn't only a means to an end, he is a tangible person in the GoW world, just a little detail that makes the setting feel alive imo.

My favorite part about this is that Kratos really just killed Midas for no reason, like he didn't necessarily know he would need him to make a path, bro just wakes up choosing violence 24/7

The most fucked up thing about the midas encounter is that king midas was praying to the gods to release him from his curse And kratos is the only god who answered

ATREUS: "He named her MariGOLD? Talk about obsessed!" KRATOS: "An obsession that would cost him, for the god that had given him his ability saw his second wish as an act of ingratitude, and changed the rules of it. Instead of turning only the things he wanted into gold, now EVERYTHING that came in contact with him would turn. He could not touch his food or drink without it turning into treasure for his treasury." ATREUS: "But he was still immortal, right? Even if he could not eat or drink, he could never die, right?" KRATOS: "He could still feel the hunger and thirst, and since life loses it's appeal if you can no longer enjoy it's pleasures, the king grew depressed. The only one to comfort was his daughter, who thought she could ease his suffering by feeding him. However, in a thoughtless moment, she cupped his chin in her hand with a loving gesture when trying to give him a drink of water, and was herself turned into a golden statue in front of his very eyes." Guys, this wasn’t like Perseus, nor was this Kratos putting someone out of their misery. Perseus attacked Kratos. He fought for his family, but Kratos still attacked. Midas was minding his own business, suffering all alone, lamenting everything he’s done while his sanity dwindled. Kratos saw an out; that’s all it was.

Most of the famous figures from Greek Mythology that Kratos met attacked him first, so I didn't feel bad when they died. I felt really bad about Midas though, because he wasn't threatening Kratos in any way and he still got killed. You would think Kratos of all people would be able to empathize with a grieving father who lost his daughter...
