Mimir is the best thing that happened in this game. He's like the awesome grandpa / Uncle / History teacher we never had who's full of stories to tell and is very good at telling them too. I would spend most of my time just listening to Mimir's stories about the lore. I'd put down my controller as soon as he starts saying something interesting and immerse myself.

This Kratos is a pretty nice guy compared to his... uh... youthful days.

I find it cute how Atreus still proceeds to use his knife on the wood despite what Mimir said. You can even still hear him trying to cut it in the background! XD

Despite being tortured for 109 years, Mimir seemed to keep his cool, unlike what Prometheus did when *he* was tortured.

Can we just recognize how good Mimir’s voice actor is when he talks about being tortured? It sounds so genuine.

When Mimir said “he tortured me you know” I felt that shit. Especially since I know about his back story.

Anyone notice Atreus trying to use the knife to cut Mimir free after he heard him say no weapon could free him?

Look closely at Mimir's neck and shoulders where the tree meets his flesh. You'll notice streaks of flowing crimson contrasted against vibrant and thriving moss, running up into the tree. The tree has literally been integrated into Mimir's circulatory system. Even if he were somehow pried free of the tree, or if it were cut off him, it'd spell certain death. I can't imagine how excruciating the process was to begin with. The worst part is that death of natural causes is almost certainly impossible for Mimir. The tree most likely acts as a life support system. Respiratory or circulatory failure won't matter, as the tree will continue to pump and oxygenate his blood. Odin's cruelty knows absolutely no bounds.

One of the best scenes ever for me including films. The voice acting and the music was both very epic and emotional. I love the new approach. Bring on gow2. Can't wait.

What I love about that interaction is that when Kratos implies that death would be the worst outcome, Mimir; instead of trying to barter/convince Kratos or getting upset, calmly explains to him why it's not "Odin himself sees to it personally, and believe me, there is no end to end to his creativity. Every. Single. Day. This. . . this isn't living." "Very well." And I'd like to think that at the end of that at the end of Mimir's confession Kratos sees a bit of his younger self in him, seeing death as an escape after all.

So you're telling me that I can see Helios' head get ripped off in the 3rd, but I can't see this dude get decapitated?

I love how Mimir instantly just connects with Kratos, even if it doesn't look like it.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire game. It truly shows how evil and cold odin can be towards anyone he deems betrayed him. What makes me itch my head is he did this to mirmir, odin accused tyr but in tyr case he is odin son, you'd think tyr would've had a worse punishment but mirmir did

Rewatching this video afterRagnarok is amazing. Its outstanding to see Kratos now respecting Mimir, no longer calling him "head" and easily opening himself to him. He's a "brother" alright.

I like that even in this part of the series Kratos was still a bit tempered. He still hated gods and smashed Freya's doorframe after her small quip.

Never once has someone in this series made me feel for him... and laugh at his death at the same time. I mean, seriously; He is in so much torture that he would rather risk death than live in bondage. But he can be so snarky! Love how you can see the camera pan to Freya's woods when they mention the witch of the woods and using the old magic to reanimate mimirs head. The camera work in this game is sick.

I actually like how they had Mimir in the story to tell them that Jotumheim was the tallest point in the game. Real plot twist at the end that was perfect.

I know I'm late and probably only here because of Ragnarok's release, but I love the detail they give Mimir's head from when he's a literal dead head compared to being magically resurrected. Honestly it wasn't something the devs had to do but it's a nice touch.
