God's Kill Count In Genesis

Not for the first time have I seen The Old Testament God described as a God with a ‘dark side’. He is after all responsible for floods, plagues, famines and sometimes just outright genocide. However, according to traditional believers, it’s not so much the case that the Old Testament God is ‘trigger happy’ but that this more violent side is just another part of God, who like us, is multifaceted. Stephen Fry refers to God as ‘mean-minded’, ‘monstrous’ and even as a ‘maniac’ - blasphemous words indeed, but ones that do reflect the opinion those might have on a deity that destroys cities, spreads famine and diseases and at one point drowns the entire world. However, if we were to consult with the traditional believer, they might say that these actions are justified and that these acts are not ‘random vindictiveness’, but rather punishments owed to those who have done wrong.
On that note, in today’s episode, we’ll be analysing each and every time God snuffs someone out of existence and hopefully, we’ll have a more informed sense of what God’s final kill count looks like by the end of Genesis.

Good possibility that there were no ships during this time since the earth's inhabitants were well inland far from any sea as we have on our maps today. There was no rainfall from the sky as of yet. God instructed Noah on exactly how to build a temporary structure, an ark, to sustain the 8 souls and various animals to be protected. Nobody believed Noah's preaching about a pending judgement in the form of a deluge because that idea was so far from human comprehension because the earth was not moistened by falling waters. But on that day in Genesis all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened. Massive deluge from the sky as well as underneath that covered the face of the earth.

I remember that Stephen Fry interview in 2015.He was being interviewed by legendary Irish TV personality Gay Byrne (FYI Byrne was straight, he was just born at time when Gay was an acceptable nickname for his real name, Gabriel. He was an ally though) for an RTE program and Gay asked Stephen what he would do if he met God, to which Stephen responded as such. Subsequently There was talk of Stephen getting into legal trouble due to blasphemy still being a part of Irish law and the Constitution . Luckily it was decided that blasphemy laws were antiquated and they were officially dropped the Constitution in a referendum.

Well, considering that the Bible is mistranslated into the idea that the Bible is only referring to one entity...yes, he would seem kind of mean and vengeful. However, the stories contained in the Bible are not about God. They are about the Elohim; a group of several entities, who ruled over humanity and no, they weren't very nice to us and often competed with each other for territory and power.

You know, I never once considered the population of humans killed during the flood. I didn't even factor in that humans lived for hundreds or even a thousand years before the flood. For some reason, however, I imagined hundreds of millions of humans perishing. Assuming the story is true, of course.

The air was not toxic when people lived for hundreds of years at that time. Which why I believe that man was around at the time of the dinosaur, and when even the bugs were huge, because the air had more oxygen at the time. And there are depictions of men holding on to lions as though they were pets, and those men are huge as giants. Also people were bigger then to, Adam was said to be at least 60 feet tall.

Listen to Paul Wallis and Mauro Biglio. They are scholars and know many languages and can read the ancient original biblical texts. YHWH & El Shaddai was a God of terror and destruction. The gnostic texts and other ancient texts that are not in the current Bible hold the key to understanding that the different personalities described in the Bible are all not one God. There are different entities in the Bible but that was lost as the people who rewrote it consolidated it.

Either way you still have a chance to get to know the Lord, through Christ he experienced human suffering, sin and humiliation. He even made a new covenant with the entire world, willing to forgive you for any sin and save you from what comes next.

@@yakshakingu I don't see anything horrible about the Lord. He gave those men so much time to repent, yet they wished to continue truly being horrible beings. Some of these places would forcibly castrate men and make them do unspeakable things. But he still sent prophets to warn the people ahead of his wrath. I don't see why you're upset they were destroyed, unless you enjoy sin? Perhaps you'd love to live in a place like Sodom where men force themselves upon you daily.

The author should recalibrate his human death calculator a bit in light of one certain Russian lady (Valentina) in the mid 1700s who according to the Guinness Book of World Records gave birth to 69 children, 67 of which reached adulthood. If a woman in the 1700s when the mortality rate was exceptionally high can have 69 children, we can only speculate what women during earth's early years could have produced as it's safe to assume they were even more fertile and producing children even when they were several hundreds of years old. AIG estimates the death toll near 4 Billion!!

The Christian God is actually not the same as the Old Testament god. This is made clear in the Gnostic scriptures which were banned by a committee who decided what should be in the bible and what should not. Propaganda and censoring is not a new thing.

I'm supposing that it's worse now. Consider the amount of people on the planet now vs. then and how many people die daily. All life and death are the will of God. Seek Jesus, find love and understand interconnectedness of life. One may find this through Bhuda and other prophets as well but the fact Jesus died for humanity is key. Daily Dose of Wisdom is an interesting channel on YT to look into. Anyway, you all do you and I guess we will all understand when we take that final dirt nap.

God is like a landlord owing a house for rent. He has rules by which a tenant must live by as long as he is renting the house or apartment. The home is furnished with nice and expensive things that must be taken care of. A nice clean couple moves in and agrees to the rules of the landlord. But then some outsider is allowed to live with them and disregards the contract between the couple and the owner. Soon he corrupts the nice couple and they begin to wreck the place. What does the owner angrily do? He has to evict the couple and the bad association they allowed to live there (1 Cor.15:33). Now they're all out in the cold, they even lost the deposit they put down, there perfection! If you were a landlord owning a lovely home and the same happened to you, What would you do? Say the owner was the very Father of the man. He'd be very sad, and, hurt, and disappointed, regretting what he had to do. But he has other adult children that would like to rent the nice home too. Out of love the owner allows the couple to work for their own home on his expansive land to raise their children in their own home. Rent!, You say? The couple was entitled to live in his Father's home for free! It's his own son and daughter in -law! The ''rent'' we owe as sons to our heavenly Father is our worship to him and our service to his first-born Son, the heir, which is giving our lives to live and enjoy the paradise that will be our home in the new world. Until then, we live and raise our children in this lovely planet God created for us. That out- sider man allowed to live here with us is the Devil, Satan. And he's even got his hooligans and good for nothing corrupting friends with him! They've made a mess of our beautiful home that mankind invited in. Jehovah our God has every right to do as he pleases with his Kingdom, on earth. The tenants must obey the rules of his Kingdom as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9, and those ruining the earth will be evicted and returned to the ground from whence they came and they will be buried with their outside companion. Amen

If I don't like the landlord, I find a different apartment and sign that lease. And the old manager, if he was excessively controlling, can pound sand. God is a landlord that made sure we had no other apartments to go to, then blames us for not liking that stifling arrangement, that is absurd. It's interesting to me that we humans afford eachother more free will than god would ever afford us, like being able to disassociate from contracts in ways that harbor no punishment. Looks like we found the better way on our own after all.

The "Nature" of god, in this case Yahweh, son of Asherah, depends on who is writing the mythology. Yahweh was a Canaanite deity which the Hebrews adopted as the chief deity who was the god of war and weapon making. He was a minor god invoked only in the case of national emergency.
