‘God Save the King’ - National Anthem of the United Kingdom

Күн бұрынGod Save the King (Formerly God Save the Queen, may she find peace) is the National Anthem of the United Kingdom and former Anthem of the Kingdom of Great Britain, composed for King George II under the original lyrics of 'God Save our Gracious George!' Although the melody is much older and more widely spread, in French, Prussian, American, Russian songs as well.

He visited my hometown of Hong Kong five times and when he came, he explored the bustling wet markets, checked out quaint local shops, visited the public housing estates built for those who cannot afford their own homes. One particular memory stands out: while at the wet market, he shook hands with a fishmonger who was handling fish with a rather pungent odor. He showed no hesitation and embraced the moment with a genuine, down-to-earth attitude that was truly endearing. His framed photos still hang in some of the shops. It's a time that Hong Kong can never go back to, but those memories will always hold a special place in my heart. God save the king.

Im an American of Irish descent (Sligo on my dad's side, Cork on my mom's, proud member of the Hibernians). Being a History Major with only one course on Irish History I became immersed in British History and Literature with the 1970s ITV miniseries Edward VII on KZfaq starting my deep admiration for the Royal Family. I'll be in Ireland for the first time in August, I'm looking forward to it
