"Here's your sign" is my favorite line. Not only is it a double, but it hits on both sides of comparing their minds at once. Kong calls Godzilla stupid (referencing Bill Engvall's famous running bit) and calls himself smart (here's a sign to show I know sign language).

Sorry, but Kong had the best rebuttals and won two of three rounds easy. Godzilla might have won the last round, but it's debatable.

Round 1 is Godzilla 1. KIng Kong 0. Round 2 is Godzilla 1. King Kong 1 Round 3 is Godzilla 2. King Kong 1 But it's narrow, very narrow.

I love when kong came back with a yawned "AAAANYWAYS!" And just dismissed everything godzilla was saying. Godzilla imo was technically more proficient with his wordplay and verse structure, but kong was just rapping solid with some good lines in each verse. And honestly, this was an erb for the hardcore monster movie fans. The references were thick fast and heavy and you needed to be really hard into both characters movie history to get most of the lines beyond the surface meaning.

I mean, kong came in with a sign language punchline that hit on several levels so to me they kinda cancel each other out for pulling something tough and making it work.

That was a deliberate choice on ERB's part. They wanted Godzilla's voice to sound like the voice of someone who has been exposed to nuclear radiation (as Godzilla has, in SPADES), and they did a pretty damn accurate job!

Not exactly. When Nintendo made Donkey Kong, Universal sued them, claiming they plagiarized King Kong to create Donkey Kong, but Nintendo correctly pointed out that King Kong was actually public domain, so Universal never owned it at all. It got so bad that the judge presiding over the case actually questioned why Universal started the lawsuit in the first place. Suffice to say, Universal lost that lawsuit, and then found themselves in ANOTHER lawsuit where Nintendo sued THEM for unfairly suing Nintendo the first time around, and Nintendo won THAT lawsuit as well. So Nintendo completely made an ass out of Universal and made them their bitch, basically.

Apparently Godzilla spoke ONCE in a movie in the 70s, and that’s what they based his voice off of. Also, think he won ‘cause his punches were just a little harder- that Jessie Smullet bar 🤯 ~_~
