I personally disagree. The fights cutaway way more often, it wastes important thing from the Godzilla lore such as the oxygen destroyer and burning Godzilla and the human characters aren't as good as some other movies

Kotm still has a lot of fight scenes at night time, obscuring the actions. In terms of actions and fights, Godvilla vs Kong hands down the best. Kotm has more epic monsters though despite no kong. King Ghidorah is so awesome

I disagree. It brought some of the worst human characters in the Monsterverse (Other than Legacy of Monsters, which also brought in some of the best characters so 🤷🏻♂️) It doubled down on 2014’s problem with cutting away from all the action just to get back to said humans and even when we do see monster fights their’s just too much visual effect rain and mist and dirt and rubble in the way of all of it so I can’t tell how the fight is actually going down.

KOTM might be the best MonsterVerse film for the hardcore Godzilla Fans who have been following this lizard for years... But for me, I have to give an edge to Godzilla Vs. Kong... Kong's story was the best part for me in this entire cinematic universe.... No hate plz. If you can't handle Kong... Don't even reply to this comment.

That and KOTM also brought in some of the waitstaff characters in the franchise. (Other than Legacy of Monster, which is mixed. The past characters are perfect while the modern ones suck ass.) Like yeah GvK characters aren’t great either but they weren’t as bad as KOTM imo.

The future monsterverse movies need to give more screen time to the monsters because they are the most important characters that are more entertaining than the humans, they should also do the same for other movies like Sonic and Transformers.

We only get 10 minutes of Godzilla and in gxk we only get 7 less than g14 but we get him faster I think it does make sense to have 10 minutes cause of like there on a buget but at least just get rid off all of the other monsters and replace them with Godzilla screen time in the next movie it’s just cause Kong got more screen time then Godzilla in gxk

GXK still earned well over 570 million dollars and now it’s the highest grossing film in the monster verse . Surpassing Kong skull island and GVk. Even tho you thought it was stale it’s still a big win in my book, this was the best year of Godzilla.

We need a break from the crossovers. We need a third solo Godzilla flick. We can’t just keep having more crossovers in a row because people will get tired of them and MonsterVerse would have lower lifespan. We need the MonsterVerse to not get repetitive like MCU, SW, and DCEU/DCU.

Completely disagree and that's okay. GxK beats out GvK because; The human characters are compact in GxK without a mustache twirling villain, this allows a balancing act among the 4 characters as discoverers and not self-improvement mission hoppers like GvK (and KotM for that matter). The theme of home suites both Jia/Illene and Kong/Suko in the story while both reach arcs that actually have substance; Suko learns to love a non abusive King, Jia learns that home is not exclusive to heritage/identity but bonds with those who put your needs first. As for the action, it's constant and showcases Godzilla and Kong beautifully; no cutaways, no human interference, and resolutions caused by the titans. Each fight has purpose to the story whether the fights remind us who's King of the monsters, new abilities acquired, forming alliances, or discovering the intensity of new enemies. The creativity of evolved Godzilla and the beast glove Kong were spectacular additions to each monster's lore. Godzilla, unlike in Gvk, displayed his power from start to finish without looking inferior and infact, made a huge difference in the final battle as he overcame Skar/Shimo in ways Kong couldn't. I love both movies but GvK has too many pointless characters while I like the small amount of characters in GxK. Can't beat the monster scenes in GxK; they truly stand out in the Monsterverse.

We need a break from the crossovers. GXK needs to be treated as the final installment of this series’ “first phase” and we need a third solo Godzilla movie and a second solo Kong film for this continuity as Kong only has had 1 and these 2 crossover event films. The MonsterVerse needs to not get repetitive otherwise it won’t have a longer lifespan and people will eventually grow tired. We need more films besides only crossovers. Like if we had gotten 2 Avengers films in a row after the first one instead of more individual movies.

Why story is not gxk the main story is kong finding his familly which is kongs main goal since he was born.The lore needs to be gxk coz skar and shimo the ice dragon,godzilla fought the apes of skar and trapped them in the other side of hollow earth where shimo was.And shimo started the ice age

Great video! 👍👍 I agree with most what you said. The MonsterVerse needs to tone itself down otherwise it’s gonna outstay it’s welcome just like the MCU and DCEU/DCU. I want the MonsterVerse to improve to allow it a longer lifespan and allow it to grow and continue for at least 10 more years but with better quality films and tv shows and not oversaturate like the MCU and Star Wars have. Also, I think we need some more solo films for Godzilla and Kong respectively and not merely only crossover flicks. And get better writers for their individual films as well. Peter Jackson did a great job with that 2005 King Kong film. Why not get somebody good like him for a solo Kong movie for this continuity? But yeah, really good video as always and look forward to more videos from you. 💪 Eric, you’re the best!

I honestly felt the same way about Godzilla x Kong. Sure, the monster fight scenes by themselves are awesome and serve as popcorn action fan fare, but every other aspect about the movie just felt like an afterthought that Adam Wingard wanted to rush through as quickly as possible. He clearly wasn't as enthused about GxK as he was with GvK, and that showed in his direction.

Eric, what classic Godzilla villain would you like to see in the Monsterverse? I would love Destoroyah to fight Godzilla. But that should be later down the line. Have you seen Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters? The characters in the past are very good, the present cast are decent, except Kurt Russell who is the star of the show. But there is one character you will absolutely hate like I did.

Basically enough, It is fair that the 2021 film is far more better and improve than the 2024 film, I really hope this new director we already get, can give a tone for this next MV film a focus tone like the G2014 or Skull Island vibes, since those 2 are way better than the later 3 installments.

This video is very accurate. I didn’t care so much about the humans. But the native people in Hollow Earth acted far too modern. And they hired a bunch of Chinese actors and actresses, one won’t stop smiling. The natives were far better in Skull Island. And the fact this man is using Emotional music from the 2005 King Kong Film shows how much Captain Eric LOVES the 2005 film over both of these two monster movies combined. That’s already saying a lot!

Name Correction: Diddy Kong’s Actual Name is Suko (although never mentioned from the movie, it is official) And the Ice Demon Dragon thing is Shimo (which was indeed explained in the movie after the Skar vs Kong first fight but you probably got bored of the human explaining the lore). Also, Skar’s full name is The Skar King. But the nick name Skar does accurately make sense. Hope this helps.

So, to clear some stuff up, the Ice Dragon is named Shimo, and Diddy Kong is named Suko (like Zuko but with an S), though I can understand where the confusion is. Shimo's name is said twice, and Suko's name is never said inside the movie.

While I personally disagree, I can see the points he's making here. I absolutely adore both movies, but the more monster screentime, the more in depth personalities and motives, and the fact they did this with like half of what studios nowadays spend on movies really put GxK on top for me. The only thing that he said that kinda peeved me was his complaints against Windgard with his work in this movie. I think he did a great job. The movies feel similar in direction, and while I can agree that the human stuff in GxK feels really, and mean REALLY out of place in the more serious monsterverse, I feel like GxK is a more fun, and oddly enough deeper movie, at least with the monsters.

That's also impressive. But the final numbers for that film weren't released when I was working on this video. But the point behind discussing the box office was to explain how the director Adam Wingard got to return for the sequel.

I keep fighting between Godzilla (2014) and Godzilla Vs Kong which is my favorite of this Monsterverse. You’re right Godzilla Vs Kong REALLY had a cohesive tone with the decent characters and jus the right amount of wildness and really was a great paced and executed film of this franchise and if they make more movies they REALLY need to do it like GVK did and the inclusion of Mechagodzilla was AWESOME and PERFECT (he’s my fav Kaiju monster and I REALLY love that they brought him in the Monsterverse)! But Godzilla (2014) has a very serious and emotional and weight building tone that we REALLY needed in a Godzilla film one day and it progresses it BEAUTIFULLY and is the only film in the Monsterverse that legit feels like a film with GREAT suspense and characters and story! Either one are SUPER debatable!

First off, Godzilla was clearly dazed, not knocked out. And also how would Kong kill him? By punching him repeatedly? Godzilla’s taken much stronger blows to the head. And besides, what damage would punching Godzilla repeatedly do? Godzilla took Mecha G’s beating and the only visible injury he showed was a black eye. He tanked Kong’s axe which had absorbed not only seconds of atomic breath and as well as Hollow Earth Energy, yet Godzilla was only dazed long enough for Kong to prepare for round 3. Which given that all Kong did was crawl up a building, isn’t saying much. Punching Godzilla isn’t gonna do sh*t. If Kong *did* continue to punch Godzilla, he would’ve only been partially dazed. Godzilla was blood lusted and it’s common knowledge when your blood lusted that you don’t think straight. Godzilla could’ve easily used a nuclear pulse or his tail to get Kong off him.

In my opinion: Godzilla X Kong is more of a turn your brain off movie to me. Like a dumb fun popcorn movie that i can enjoy. But i agree with you on this where Godzilla Vs Kong is slightly a better paced film and does make Kong more like a emotional character with the little girl. I can still enjoy both to be honest but have to agree that i think i kinda like Godzilla Vs Kong more. But no contest Godzilla Minus One 10000× times better then both

Godzilla is not a character in GxK or GvK. He’s a plot device who changes his personality and goals on a whim just because the plot requires it. Kong actually has a proper story and evolves as a character across both movies

Sorry, mate, but I still prefer the original Japanese version from 1962. Not the English dub from 1963. As for the Monsterverse, New Empire just looks like a dumb, big-budget toy commercial.

I finally did it. I finally watched the new Empire and then I loved it. It worked really good. I actually really loved it. The final battle was really awesome too. It was much better than the first battle with mecca godzilla But at the same time, both of them were awesome too. And And I felt like it was jumping the shark. A little too much but it was good. I enjoyed it for the first one I gave it in eight out of ten as for the new empire, though I gave it a nine out of ten

The original concept for the final battle of GxK was way better in the artbook (it took place in a burning Moscow and was an allegory for the war in ukraine and nuclea war)

Godzilla vs Kong had better visuals, either in that Day scene of Water ships or Night time with that Neon lights Visuals in new one was yuck for a lot of parts. Only best visual was the Poster for that movie

To be fair i think both godzilla vs kong and godzilla x kong the new empire are both superiors including godzilla king of the monsters 2019 is 3rd superior as well then godzilla 2014 kong skull 2017

G vs K was good but it did nothing with Holo earth!The axe was litteraly thrown in with almost nothing.The gauntlet had an upbuild.The holo earth was so much better in G x K and they really disappointed me with that in G vs K.Also Mecha Godzilla was just there and cool but had not have an great story as Skar king had.In G x K there was sooooo much more going on in the fights!That all makes me like G x K more

Yeah sorry, I disagree with you on this one. I really liked godzilla x kong the new empire. I loved the fights better, well at least some of them. Skar king I like him better than some of the other monster villains in the monsterverse for his personality and character. In terms of strength yes I'll give you that. But it gives him character of a villain, making him a coward, a jerk, always cheating, a conquer etc... I liked that and I liked his expressions. Also kong and godzilla have the right to feel old. I mean they're starting to get there. We'll godzilla at least. Kong his getting there. Also kong and the little kong we're funny. Making them god of war like😂

I didn't give GXKTNE a chance because I didn't like and/or love GVK because it has bad writing in it and too much focus on Kong. Also, Godzilla didn't need to kill Scylla and Tiamat in GXKTNE. GXKTNE is a big disserves to Godzilla's 70th anniversary because it focuses too much on Kong and less on Godzilla.

This is probably why I won't watch Godzilla X Kong, I knew that this film was not gonna be good. And this film was compared unfavorably to Godzilla Minus One, and they're right to do so. Because this film isn't on the same level as some of the Monsterverse films.

Well sorry to say this but I love Godzilla X kong a lot more then Godzilla vs kong and it is not a cash grab like Star Wars and marvel and also mechagodzilla and scar king are both weak in their own way for example it was canon that if legendary Godzilla did not fight kong and was at full power legendary Godzilla would have easily won plus as for scar king yes kong and legendary Godzilla did win easily against in a 1v1 and scar king is kind of a coward who only fights when he needs to but that how tyrants are technically their weapons and army and intelligence is what makes them dangerous not their physical weapons and abilities so while I like both mechagodzilla and scar king I would have to go with scar king also as for toho monsters really Eric center that is up to toho to decide since they own the rights to the characters

It does count. It was over for Godzilla then, but for some reason you guys can’t comprehend this with your small brains: KONG WAS NOT TRYING TO HURT GODZILLA. He needed him to be ready to fight. If he had beaten Godzilla to death there would be no point getting his help because he would no longer be in fighting condition. Also Godzilla did get knocked out. The scene then transitions to him waking up. How do you think kong had enough time to get behind him and start dragging him to the portal? It’s impossible to discuss this movie with anyone because apparently nobody pays attention to what’s happening in said movie 🤦🏻

@@nicholasstensson9699 first of all, chill. Someone disagreeing with u doesn't make them dumb. Second of all, I'm fully aware of that, I watched the movie. Not difficult to understand. Regardless of his intent, kong still lost the fight. Without Mothra, kong would have died. Third of all, my comment was mainly in reference to the Hong kong battle in gvk. That is one fight, there is no Kong winning the second round because the fight was most definitely not over.

God this video makes me so angry, many of the points you made about this movie is just wrong, GXK wasn’t a cash grab it felt like it had passion behind it, the human characters were actually good, not minus one level of characters but still good, I get it it’s your opinion but the many points you made on why GXK is bad are just pathetic, I might actually unsubscribe for this garbage video
