Exactly! Go somewhere else! And that goes for both the Etsy complainers and the GoImagine complainers. I’m sick of both sets of complainers. It’s their platforms…don’t like it?? Leave. Personally I think both platforms need to be shown some respect. They are both bound to screw up from time to time but so do we! No human or platform is perfect…leave both platforms alone.

Thank you for the rant. I have seen complaining in the fb group. It makes the seller and the shop ugly after all the ignorance that comes from them. I like the fact that goimagine is not public and that it is handmade and not huge like Etsy. Etsy was new once too.

I LOVE that GoImagine is NOT budging on POD and AI art. So freaking ecstatic. If GoImagine WAS like Etsy, I wouldn't shop there. I agree that there is a place for both platforms, as Tim Holtz says, "There's room for us all"......!! BUT that being said, I need to get busy and finish filling my GoImagine shop listings. I only have one up. :( LOLOL!

This happens with alot of things. I live in a small touristy town. People come here to get away from the big city. They are constantly complaining that we dont have a Starbucks, certain restaurants, things for the kids to do, more big name shopping, on and on. People are strange.

I’ve been looking forward to this rant! I just get so tired of people complaining, if someone has an honest critique that shared respectfully, fine. There’s just soooo much whine whine whine, and I do it too, but I usually warn people before I do “ok, I’m finished” 😉 Going onto someone’s group and start telling them what’s wrong with it sounds like going into someone’s home and saying what you don’t like about it! What?! Go away, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

Usually the people complaining think that because invested some time into starting a business, that they’re automatically entitled to make sales(and if they don’t it has to be someone else’s fault). I don’t think growing a business is easy for anyone. The difference between the people who “make it” compared to those who don’t, is those who make it continuously try to improve things for their business no matter how long it takes, and remain patient.. rather than blaming an outside source.

Kara, I’d never heard of GoImagine before I watched this video- maybe because I live in Australia- but I LOVE this rant! You sum up so much about social media, while using social media to make your point. You’ve helped me so much in growing my Etsy hand made jewellery business. I used to belong to a Facebook group and all they did was complain about Etsy. My one and only comment was "BYE." I was called rude, mean and insensitive .

I learned from a boss a very long time ago that, before you start complaining, figure out some solutions. You can bring up your complaint, but then you can follow it up with some solutions. Not only is it productive, but you'll never come across as a complainer.

It's also peculiar, or not, how some quietly sit on the sidelines just waiting for a negative post to come up so that they can jump on the bandwagon with their own jabs. And then commenting with misinformation and accusations in order to validate their whining. There are FAQ's at the top of the FB page where most of the questions and complaints are addressed. If a subject isn't mentioned, ask about it. There are people there behind and in front of the scene who really care. I mean, really care.

Growing up in a business environment where everyone in my family my dad, mom, uncles, aunties and family friends owned businesses and even the professionals like doctors, attorneys etc ran their practices like businesses, one thing I learned is never to complain about anything because it is a waste of time and energy. Just adjust your sails like a ship in turbulent waters and keep it moving. Whatever happens, shake it off like chickens shake off water from their backs after rainfall and continue foraging. As a former advertising industry insider, I know that it is hard to succeed without advertising. Ebay will advertise your listings for free until you sell for a percentage. As in Rome do as Romans do, whatever Etsy permits you to sell, sell it. Same with Goimagine, Amazon, Ebay etc. If Chinese people sell junk on Ebay, get in there and sell your own junk, roll up your sleeves and outhustle them. Competition is part of life, get over it. 😂😂😂

I am so grateful for this video! I've been considering on line sales for a bit, but none of the platforms were appealing to me. But Goimagine seemed great! But when I looked at reviews there were all these complaints that I didn't understand because I've never sold on line. I'm dedicated to my craft, but I'm fortunate in that I don't need to make much of a profit. But I'm very inexperienced in online sales, and I need customer support! I've sold at some curated art fairs that guarantee goods are actually hand made, and really enjoyed it. I just want someplace I can send people when they ask if I have a website, and to sell some of my things because I'm running out of storage! Your video answered my questions. Goimagine here i come! Thanks!

The problem with Goimagine is that I think most of the traffic is sellers, not buyers. I think it could really take off of they draw in some shoppers.

They do advertise and draw in shoppers, i made a sale on there yesterday. And like I said in the video, sellers need to draw in their own shoppers, that’s just a normal part of doing business.

Yesterday, it arrived back here at my doorstep with markings on it indicating that it was 'UNCLAIMED' and so it came back to me. I've messaged the buyer twice so far and no reply. What would you do here? Thanks 🙂

One of the issues I tend to have is that most of the people giving 1 star reviews to things is their explanation or lack thereof. I think that as we move forward in an AI driven, “bad actor” world, we’ll be able to trust reviews, ratings and critiques even less. This will make us return to having small trusted circles and “professional” critics. I appreciate your detailed explanations and my ability to rely on many of your conclusions to help base my decisions. Thanks.

Hi Kara, I don’t have a shop yet on any site. I have heard that if ETSY sees the same product on another site, that listing gets suspended, but you stated that you sell on Etsy and goimagine. For the listings they've been suspending, it seemd like they're looking at large marketplaces like Aliexpress, Alibaba, Temu, Amazon. I don't know fo sure which ones they use, but you could always use a different photo on each place that you sell to avoid having them take your listings down. I doubt that they're going to go to your website and use that to compare phtoos, they know that you own both of those so of course the photos will eb the same.

Oh my skin is plenty thick enough… you should see the people I block on this KZfaq channel because of their shit posting and i have no time to bother with idiots. But it doesn’t hurt my feelings when i do it.
