Just the right video. I too am installing my Onan 4000 shortly on my bus. I have been trying to hunt down a cradle for this, and now I will just build one. Thank you so much.

Glad it helped! Best of luck, don’t break too many drill bits. It’s been 4 years and it’s still holding up great. (The cradle, not the onan😭)

@@parishskoolie Yep! One thing I have noticed about Onans, when they run great its all good, but when something goes janky, its always something of harder to find parts needed. Unlike the common platform generators that failure issues are typical of just fuel, fuel filter, plug, that are easy fix and easy to find parts. I will will build my under cradle a bit larger to accept common style as well, when the time comes.

Awesome idea and build man! I'll be keeping this in mind for the future. I might buy or fabricate some kind of rubber bushings for all the mounting bolts to dampen vibration.

I like propane for fuel for a generator. Much easier to connect a fuel line to the generator

Hey! The generator that was mounted in my van has 2 pipes that connect to the diesel tank? Any idea why mine would have two? I ask because I’m trying to rig the lines it to my diesel heater which only requires one pump. I took the generator out, and I’m trying to avoid having to drop the tank and figure it out 🤣 great video

My buses diesel tank has a supply & return line, I would imagine it’s that. This is for the motor tho, our genny is gas. I added a separate tank! Thanks for watching!! Good luck

look intoo stepdrills , these work pretty good and dont break as eazy........ never mind about the mud : you could just screw some mudflaps to the frame , the stock semi type ones should be big enough to cover the whole side of the frame as for the fill tube : maibe a radiator hose would work you can get those with some pretty sharp bends

might want to just drill pilots and step them up n use oil. maybe not but it might help

Thanks for your input! I did indeed drill pilots and was working on the last sizing and was getting sloppy. That’s why the bit snapped

Do not buy Harbor freight sawzall blades. On about broke my back when one broke. Thay could only cut one bolt

Thanks after using an angle grinder I was considering a sawzall for deep steel straight line cuts. Wasn't sure which to go with or avoid. My fingers and toes thank you :)
